By 1973, singer-songwriter Kris Kristofferson had starred in a handful of feature film roles, playing outlaw Billy the Kid in Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid, which also co-starred Bob Dylan. That same year, just after her 14th birthday, Marie Osmond, of the performing Osmond clan, launched her recording career, becoming the youngest female act to hit Number One on the country chart with her song “Paper Roses.”

The Talk Hosts Say Farewell To Season With Special Song

Sadly, they will be coming back together for one more shortened season to give the series its perfect sendoff. The show has been on since 2010, starting with original hosts Sara Gilbert,...

“The Talk” is going silent. CBS is ending the long-running daytime chat show, which will get an abbreviated final season (its 15th) this fall, before signing off for good with what it’s calling a “celebratory sendoff” in December.
Rumors of the show’s end have been swirling for months, but CBS made it official to the show’s cast and crew on Friday morning. The news comes as CBS and the NAACP are developing a new daytime soap opera under their content partnership, “The Gates,” a partnership with P&g Studios, a division of Procter & Gamble. “The Gates,” which “follows the lives of a wealthy Black family in a posh, gated community,” is seen as a potential replacement for “The Talk.”

When John Farrar turned up to a movie set at dawn clutching a demo of his hastily written “emergency song”, he didn’t have high hopes. The call had only come in the previous day, crying out for a last-minute number to plug a hole in the musical score for when the greaser with heart gets the good girl turned bad. Farrar hadn’t exactly been inspired in scratching it together – “desperate is probably the word”, he says. The director took one listen and hated it, but the last-day-of-school shot was already set up and they were all out of options. A choreographer threw together a dance routine on the spot. The original "Grease" stage musical first debuted at the Kingston Mines night club in Chicago in 1971. The book was by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, who also wrote the music and lyrics with John Farrar. Set in the 1950s, "Grease" was a winking, somewhat bawdy anti-nostalgia piece about high school greasers and car nuts falling in love after a significant summer vacation. It banked on the images of squeaky-clean 1950s teeny-bopper movies, but inserted sexuality, a teen pregnancy, gang violence, and themes of class. The main characters were Danny the greaser and Sandy the square. They had a romantic fling in the summer, but may be too embarrassed to date one another during the school year. Their relationship is reconciled when Sandy adopts the clothes and mannerisms of the greasers. "Grease" moved to Broadway in 1972 and played all the way through 1980, making it the longest-running Broadway show at the time.

She said that the was told that that producer screamed at her and told her that “250 people were going to lose their jobs because you can’t keep food out of your fat face.” Marie said she was subsequently spurred on to undergoing a dangerous diet regimen.

Marie Osmond is recalling the time that a Donny & Marie producer body-shamed her. The star opened up about the bad experience she had with a producer on the variety show she hosted with her brother Donny between 1976 and 1979.
“It was on that lot that I was taken out to the back by some head of the studio — and I’m like 5′ 5″ and about 103 pounds — and he basically said, ‘You’re an embarrassment to your family. You’re fat,'” Osmond told Page Six.
Osmond was a teenager when this went down in the 1970s and alleged that the producer told her that “250 people were going to lose their jobs because you can’t keep food out of your fat face.”
Following the comments, Osmond went on a diet and “got down to like 92 pounds,” putting her health at risk.
Osmond continued, “I was in the dressing room, bending over putting on my pantyhose,...

Marie Osmond was barely a teenager when a producer for Donny and Marie berated her for being “fat,” the ’70s icon is now sharing. In a recent interview with Page Six, the singer, actress, and entrepreneur claims that, when she was 15 years old, a producer for the variety show Osmond starred in with her brother Donny Osmond, allegedly took her aside and told her that she was “an embarrassment to her family” because “she was fat.” “It was on that lot that I was taken out to the back by some head of the studio — and I’m like 5′ 5″ and about 103 pounds — and he basically said, ‘You’re an embarrassment to your family. Most documentaries about pioneering musicians are celebrations that exhibit the performer’s greatness right off the bat through electric concert footage and testimonials. Lisa Cortés’ “Little Richard: I Am Everything” does that, of course, with Little Richard ripping it up onstage and on screen, and Mick Jagger, Tom Jones, and John Waters testifying to his power. “He’s everything,” says Mick, in the first of a few nods to the film’s title.
But “Little Richard: I Am Everything” does something else: It gets complicated right off the bat. As part of the opening sequence, we see footage in which latter-day Little Richard tells David Letterman that he came out as gay early in his life, “but God made me know that he made Adam to be with Eve, not Steve.”
That’s the first hint that there’s a thorny side to this rock ‘n’ roll pioneer,...

Media baron Rupert Murdoch is in a relationship with Ann-Lesley Smith, 25 years his junior, less than six months after his “brutal” split from Jerry Hall, it has emerged.
The 91-year-old was pictured holidaying on a beach in Barbados with Smith, 66. The pair were also photographed holding hands at an airport.
They were reportedly being hosted in Barbados by British billionaire and Jcb chairman Anthony Bamford, the Daily Mail reports.
Smith was previously married to country-western musician and business entrepreneur Chester Smith, with whom she recorded an album in 2005, titled Captured by Love. He died in 2008, aged 78.
The Independent understands that Smith and Murdoch met in November before making their debut as a couple at Christmas, when she attended a dinner at Murdoch’s home in Mayfair.

There's random, and then there is stumbling across Richard Pryor bartending in the "Star Wars" universe. If you spend enough time searching "Star Wars" on YouTube, that's exactly what you'll uncover. Unfortunately, we only get a brief glimpse of the colorful Mos Eisley Cantina in "Star Wars: A New Hope," because once Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi affirm that "you will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy," they meet up with Han Solo and get down to business in a dark corner of the tavern.
However, we have Richard Pryor to thank for imagining what it might be like if we had stuck around a while at the Mos Eisley Cantina. A long-forgotten skit on the short-lived NBC variety show dubbed "The Richard Pryor Show" hilariously imagines life as an employee at the "Star Wars Bar."

Famous pornographic actor Harry Reems nearly starred in Grease, alongside John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John.
The late porn star – real name Herbert Streicher and best known for his role in the 1972 adult film Deep Throat – was initially hired for the role of Coach Calhoun, who aids Travolta’s Danny Zuko in his quest to join a sports team to impress Sandy (Newton-John).
“Allan [Carr, the producer] wanted to have the porn star Harry Reems play that part,” director Randal Kleiser revealed on a recent episode of The Hollywood Reporter’s It Happened in Hollywood podcast.
“He actually hired him, and then the studio said, ‘No, no, no. You can’t do that.’ And so they had to fire him,” he added.
After pressure from the studio forced them to drop Reems, comedian Sid Caesar ended up assuming the role as the fan-favourite Rydell High faculty member.

How adorable were Sawyer and Landon?
Of all the holiday love stories, the main characters of A Fiance for Christmas put the Q(t) in quirky with their messy love story where a misunderstanding spiraled out of control.
And Marie Osmond co-starring is the ultimate treat.
Sawyer Ames is the perkiest, quirkiest, most awkward leading lady in one of the holiday films thus far. It's only fitting that the circumstances surrounding how she found love would fall in line with that.
In a sense, she was a classic modern woman lead who lived for her job and was a workaholic. And hey, if you spend the majority of your time delivering babies, there's plenty to adore.
We've reached a point where there is a greater appreciation for work/life balance, and some employers actually encourage it. It's a refreshing take that they've begun normalizing this, even if it did make...

Jerry O’Connell, a favorite among daytime TV fans, is nearing a deal to become a full-time co-host on “The Talk,” a person with knowledge of the conversations told TheWrap. He’ll effectively replace Sharon Osbourne, who left the CBS show in March.
A second individual told us negotiations between O’Connell and the talk show have been on and off since at least May. CBS declined to comment on this story.
O’Connell, a regular guest on the program, would become the show’s first full-time male co-host. Sheryl Underwood, Amanda Kloots and Elaine Welteroth are the remaining co-hosts on “The Talk.” Carrie Ann Inaba has taken a leave of absence from the series.
Previous co-hosts on the long-running talk show include Julie Chen (who now goes by Julie Chen Moonves), Sara Gilbert, Marissa Jaret Winokur, Holly Robinson Peete, Leah Remini, Aisha Tyler and Marie Osmond.
Osbourne departed following an on-air spat with colleague Underwood.

Hollywood is taking to Twitter to pay their respects to beloved sitcom actor Gavin MacLeod, who passed away early Saturday morning at the age of 90.
MacLeod’s roles as Murray Slaughter on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and Captain Merrill Stubing on “The Love Boat” rendered him a mainstay of 1970s and ’80s television, as well as a source of both comedy and comfort for countless viewers.
See how some of MacLeod’s costars, friends and fans are honoring the late TV legend.
Ed Asner, who starred opposite MacLeod on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show,” described the actor as “my brother, my partner in crime (and food) and my comic conspirator.” He also assured MacLeod that he’d see him and the rest of “the gang” in a bit. Asner and Betty White are the classic sitcom’s only living cast members.
Actor Michael McKean replied to Asner’s tweet with his own condolences.

And the Daytime Emmys go to … CBS. The network and the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences said today that they have inked a two-year deal for CBS to air the awards show.
With CBS also set to television the Primetime Emmys this year, it will mark the first time since 2008 that one network will broadcast both trophy shows in the same year. CBS, which will televise this year’s Daytime Emmys for a 15th time — more than any other network — most recently aired both in 2005.
The net and NATAS said additional information about the 48th annual Daytime Emmy Awards broadcast, set for June 25, will be announced in the coming months.
The 2021 Daytime Emmys is produced by NATAS and Associated Television International, which produced the ceremony from 2009-11 and again last year. Adam Sharp and Steve Ulrich are executive producers for NATAS, while David McKenzie is executive producer and director for Ati.
