We love “The Masked Singer” and are thrilled that another set of famous faces is paired up in season 6, disguised this time as Banana Split. In season 4, we had the Snow Owls (who turned out to be husband and wife Clint Black and Lisa Hartman) and in season 5 the Russian Dolls were revealed to be the Hanson brothers.
The duo that is hidden inside the Banana Split costume first performed on the September 29 episode of “The Masked Singer,” made their second appearance on the October 13 episode and returned to compete again on November 3. That last performance earned them a place in the Group B semifinal on November 17 where they edged out Caterpillar and Mallard for a spot in the final. On December 8, they face the Queen of Hearts for a place in the final against the Group A champion, Bull.

Spoiler Alert: Do not read ahead if you have not watched Season 5 Episode 11 of “The Masked Singer,” which aired May 12 on Fox.
Hanson has been mmm-bop’ed off “The Masked Singer.” The pop star brothers were unmasked on Wednesday’s episode as the Russian Dolls.
The trio became the first group to compete on the show; last season, the couple Clint Black and Lisa Hartman performed as a duo under the Snow Owls costume. But the Hanson brothers told Variety they were attracted to the idea of pulling off another “Masked Singer” first. Early on, the show’s panelists couldn’t even figure out how many performers were on stage.
“It was very clear from the beginning they loved the idea of playing the game,” Zac Hanson said. “It was, ‘Hey, let’s play with this idea of how many people are on stage.’ Whenever we could, we tried to keep playing that game.

Popcorn proved she had a voice like butter in her last appearance on “The Masked Singer” on November 11. Back then she made it into the final six competing on December 2 by winning her Smackdown against the Snow Owls. After Popcorn nailed her cover of “(Everything I Do) I Do It for You” by Bryan Adams, the Snow Owls were revealed to be country singer Clint Black and his actress wife Lisa Hartman.
Popcorn was in peril on episode 7 when the four judges were not won over by her cover of “Domino” by Jessie J. That song was not suited to her powerhouse vocals. Popcorn had shone earlier in the competition with her rendition of the Pink chart-topper “What About Us” on the premiere episode and her cover of the Harry Styles ballad “Falling” on episode 3.
We’ve watched all of those performances by Popcorn again as well as her clues videos.

(Warning: This post contains spoilers for Wednesday’s “The Masked Singer.”)
“The Masked Singer” eliminated the Snow Owls tonight, the Fox singing competition’s first-ever two-headed contestant, and unhatched the giant egg the two masked celebs had been performing inside of to reveal husband and wife Clint Black and Lisa Hartman. And while the couple were “honored” be the show’s inaugural duet competitors, Black says he and his wife are fortunate they “didn’t kill each other” while stuck inside that contraption for three episodes.
“This was a big deal for the show, a big move for them, the first time anywhere in the world they’ve done that,” country music singer Black told TheWrap. “So we were thrilled they asked us to do it. After first we laughed and laughed, just the idea of doing the show and then we realized, ‘Oh, we have to do this.’ And...

We’ve seen the celebrities competing in Group A on season 4 of “The Masked Singer” only three times but now more than half of them are gone. Of the four celebrities who sang on the November 11 episode, one of the biggest crowd pleasers was the pair of performers hidden inside the Snow Owls costume.
We’ve been wondering who are the famous face behind that elaborate set of masks ever since they performed on the season 4 premiere. Back then, the wowed, this talented twosome wowed the crowd with “Say Something” by A Great Big World. In week 3 they did the same with their cover of the Meghan Trainor and John Legend duet “Like I’m Gonna Lose You.”
We’ve done some digging and rewatched those two performances as well as their clues videos. We are certain that the judges are wrong that the Snow Owls are Donny and Marie Osmond...

On October 7, the third episode of “The Masked Singer” showcased the four acts from Group A who had won enough votes to stay in the competition after the premiere. They again took to the stage covered completely in cumbersome costumes that disguised them as the Giraffe, Popcorn, Snow Owls and Sun.
As much fun as it is to watch these celebrities sing, we derive even more enjoyment from figuring out who they are. Keep reading for “The Masked Singer” spoilers, including the real name of the pair of celebrities inside the Snow Owls costume. They wowed the crowd and the four judges on September 23 with their cover of “Say Something” by A Great Big World.

It’s been a few years since the film world lost Wes Craven; and while many reach for A Nightmare on Elm Street, or The Hills have Eyes, or Scream, some like to take the time to appreciate the under sung tunes in his catalogue. This is where I enthusiastically raise a mic and start warbling about Deadly Blessing (1981), an intriguing mix of slasher, the supernatural, and religious fanaticism that could only come from the busy, brainy mind of Mr. Craven.
Released in mid-August by United Artists stateside, Deadly Blessing received no favor from critics, but did bring in over $8 million against a $2 million budget; not too bad for Craven during this period, who found himself making (highly enjoyable) TV films to keep the lights on.
Our story opens in an Amish-like farming community called “Our Blessing”; but instead of the Amish, these are Hittites, a group that one person intones,...

There will be no Bewitched pilot at ABC this pilot season but the high-profile reboot centered on an interracial blended family is not dead at the network.
New ABC Entertainment president Karey Burke and her team opted to roll the project to off-cycle development to do more work on the script with the same creative team, which includes Black-ish creator Kenya Barris, in his last sale to ABC before moving to Netflix for a rich overall deal, Black-ish writer/producer Yamara Taylor, ABC Studios; Sony Pictures TV, which has the rights to the title; and Sony-based Davis Entertainment (The Blacklist).
Bewitched was bought by Burke’s predecessor at ABC, Channing Dungey, with a big pilot production commitment which I hear involved a $2 million penalty. It explored casting before ultimately being rolled.

Exclusive: Just before he recently departed ABC Studios to embark on a rich overall deal at Netflix, black-ish creator Kenya Barris sold one last high-profile project to ABC, Bewitched, a single camera, interracial blended family comedy based on the popular 1960’s sitcom of the same name. It took a little while for all the deals to close but the network has given a pilot production commitment to the new take on the classic supernatural sitcom, from Barris and black-ish writer/co-producer Yamara Taylor. The project hails from ABC Studios, Sony Pictures TV, which has the rights to the title, and Sony-based Davis Entertainment (The Blacklist).

Cue the crinkled nose: A Bewitched remake could be flying back to primetime next fall.
Just in time for the 50th anniversary of the Elizabeth Montgomery fantasy-comedy, NBC is developing a new take on the old story about a pretty witch and her very mortal husband, People has confirmed.
The new iteration from Abby Kohn and Marc Silverstein (The Vow) fast-forwards the tale to focus on Samantha's granddaughter Daphne, a single twentysomething who, just like the women in her family, uses magic to get through life. But it can't conjure up love!

Exactly one week after news broke that a Bewitched remake was in the works from Sony Pictures TV, NBC has given the comedy a pilot production commitment, our sister site Deadline reports.

One of Wes Craven's less prominent early movies makes its Blu-ray debut. Here's Ryan's review of the 1981 horror, Deadly Blessing...
In the early 1970s, Wes Craven made the leap from academic to filmmaker, working at the sleazier end of the movie industry with director and producer Sean S Cunningham on films with titles like Together, Honey Pie and Hot Cookies. It was with his horror films The Last House On The Left (1972) and The Hills Have Eyes (1977) that Craven became recognised as a director in his own right, and their shocking subject matter and violence gained him a considerable amount of notoriety among critics and censors.
Although Craven continued to dabble in exploitation cinema after The Hills Have Eyes (he served as cinematographer on The Evolution Of Snuff in 1978), the end of the 70s saw him gradually shuffle towards the mainstream; 1978's Stranger In Our House...

Deadline reported this week that Grimm writers are already working on the show's second season, which might be premiering sooner than expected, in August. Here is the synopsis for tonight's episode:
Nick (David Giuntoli) and Hank (Russell Hornsby) are called to investigate the mysterious death of a wealthy matriarch, after her stepdaughter loses everything in a Ponzi scheme. Here at AfterElton.com, people aren't shy about naming their TV crushes, whether it's a sometimes-brooding, sometimes-happy-go-lucky roguish time traveler, a gruff, strong-willed police officer or a cable TV decorator stud. But there had to be someone who started it all for each of us. The one who first made our young selves one day notice that there was more to these TV shows than just the spaceships, cartoons, and things blowing up. Someone who made our pulse race and previously non-tingly parts go all tingly.
That was the hot topic of conversations at the AfterElton break room this week: Who was your first TV crush?
The responses we got varied quite a bit. Some people remembered the teen idols of their youth, some people remembered a character who didn't make the wardrobe department work very hard, while others remembered someone who ... surprised us.
But we don't want to just hear from Ae writers.

The beach movie has come a long way from the days of Frankie & Annette, Gidget and The Ghost in the Invisible Bikini.
On second thought, maybe it hasn't changed at all. They've always been about the same things: babes, beefcake, and trying to get laid without getting sand in your nether regions.
Of course, the beach films of yesteryear could only hint at it, but you knew that beneath the Aquanet and Brylcreem, those kids were waiting to sexually explode (in between having to dodge all those giant radioactive insects so prominent in that era).
The beach films of recent times don't have to hint at anything, and can be as blatantly sexual and nuded up as they want. And they don't have to tiptoe around the "love that dare not speak its name" either, although if you read between the lines of those 60's films, we were always there,...

Summer is turning to autumn but for some celebrity babies, spring is forever in the air. “There’s nothing sweeter or more feminine than an old-fashioned flower name for a girl, and celebrities — along with other baby namers — are looking at lists of botanical choices for inspiration,” according to nameberry.com co-founder Linda Rosenkrantz. “Lately, an interesting variety of flower names has been sprouting across the celebrity landscape, both old favorites and some that have rarely been used before.”

I've had my iPod Touch for a month, and I've discovered an alarming trend: Anytime David Archuleta's "Crush" comes on — which is apparently often, since it's on my Top 25 Most Played — I hit the little tab on the upper right of the screen to hide his photo. Why? Because I can't chance that someone might see his face in the 45 seconds it takes for the screen to go dark — and just turning the iPod over doesn't seem quite safe enough. Is this something everyone does — flipping the screen to reveal the tiny track title only on the embarrassing tunes — or just me? If you are a flipper, on what songs? After the jump, my (alleged) Top 25 Most Played List, which includes three more flips. 1. "More Like Her" by Miranda Lambert 2. "You're an Angel, and I'm Gonna Cry" by Chris Thile 3. It was a tween scream in SurroundSound Thursday night when Miley Cyrus breezed down the red carpet in a one-shouldered floral chiffon Missoni frock at the Nashville premiere of Hannah Montana: The Movie. Flashing her 100-watt smile, the Disney star, 16, paused and posed for the hundreds of camera-wielding, squealing adolescent fans jamming the walkway all the way to the rails of the parking garage next to the theater. Children were the must-have accessories for the cavalcade of Music City Vips who preceded Miley/Hannah down the carpet.
