Cinephiles glaze over when it comes to a Hallmark Channel movie.
For some, that crisp, red Hallmark banner promises aspirational storytelling with subtle double entendres, great bankable chemistry between actors, and a cozy Nancy Meyers aesthetic, whether it be for thrillers like “Mystery 101” and “Curious Caterer” or the beloved (and now iconic) Countdown to Christmas banner, which celebrates its 15th anniversary this year.
For other, more cynical film fans, Hallmark content can easily be written off as a made-for-tv movie — never mind that some of the most iconic smaller productions in decades past started as made-for-tv films. And Hallmark, much like “Law and Order,” has been a rite of passage for actors, with a fair share of famous alums ranging from Sarah Paulson to Carrie Fisher.
But what about the staple Hallmark stars synonymous with the brand itself after a decade of leading dozens of features per year? Does...

Confession: I’ve never cared much for “Like a Virgin.” Madonna’s 1984 hit may be the first, if not the, signature song of her career, but it’s a trifle—a novelty, really—with its plucky, noncommittal guitar licks, sub-“Billie Jean” bassline, and the singer’s helium squeak of a voice.
That last, integral element in particular has always irked me, as, from “Express Yourself” to “Don’t Tell Me,” Madonna has proven she’s capable of some deep, soulful performances. Of course, the vocals on “Like a Virgin” were allegedly employed by design, sped up to render Madonna’s voice more childlike and “virginal.”
I’m in fairly good company, though, since both producer Nile Rodgers and Madonna herself aren’t particularly fond of “Like a Virgin” either, and she’s chosen to completely reinvent the song in masterful ways nearly every time she’s performed it. The...

This year, Tinashe notched her first Hot 100 entry in eight years with the sexy, propulsive song “Nasty,” which started climbing up the charts in June. Around the same time, a TikTok video of dancer Nate Di Winer went viral: In the clip, the nerdy-looking white boy winds his hips to the song’s chorus, inspiring memes that helped make Tinashe’s line “match my freak” part of the cultural lexicon.

Pop star Christina Aguilera posted photos of an extra-tight costume in honor of Halloween.
Dressed in a revealing orange and black bodysuit, posed around her house, Aguilera showed off her Halloween-themed tree and Nightmare Before Christmas decorations. Her photo carousel also featured a picture of her alongside her longtime fiancé Matthew Cutler. Cutler wore a plain black suit, as Aguilera must have been unable to convince him to participate in the holiday festivities.
Comments on the Instagram post reignited previous speculation about Aguilera’s weight. Earlier this year, Aguilera’s weight loss prompted rumors that she was using the drug Ozempic.

Los Angeles Haunted Hayride — the sprawling attraction that packs a spooky patch of Griffith Park with ghouls, goblins and eerie attractions — has never closed for a private party. Not for the Obamas, the Beckhams, Christina Aguilera or any of the VIPs that have flocked to the pop-up during the Halloween season in its 16 years of existence. That changed on Oct. 10, when the public exited the area known as Midnight Falls to make way for host Janelle Monáe and nearly 100 of her nearest and dearest.
As zombie-like “scare actors” bobbed and booed their way through a crowd of her guests including Zola filmmaker Janicza Bravo and Insecure star Kendrick Sampson, a DJ in a skull mask pressed pause on Rockwell’s “Somebody’s Watching Me” to make way for Monáe’s grand — and completely method — entrance, as she cut through the fog with a chainsaw and sprinted toward the stage. While sometimes controversial, the Grammy Award for Best New Artist is easily the biggest award a breakthrough musician can get, signifying the industry’s support for its own budding talent. It has gone to a wide range of industry favorites like Adele, The Beatles and Billie Eilish. This year the race is packed with mainstream chart breakouts and critically-acclaimed indies all battling for spots among the eight final nominees.
SEESabrina Carpenter Grammy submissions: ‘Espresso’ to Record of the Year, ‘Please Please Please’ to Song of the Year
Let’s start with the most obvious contenders. Sabrina Carpenter is one of two front-runners to win the award. She has arguably been the pop star of 2024 with the success of her chart-topping album “Short n’ Sweet,” which includes the top-five hits “Espresso” and “Taste” and the Hot 100 number-one hit “Please Please Please.” This success puts her in a strong position a win,...

When it comes to fashion, there’s a saying that clothes don’t make the person; the person makes the clothes. And does Sabrina Carpenter embody this philosophy? Of course, yes. Her recent performances on the Short N’ Sweet tour have been nothing short of a fashion showcase, featuring a breathtaking array of outfits. With her signature looks—think short dresses, mini skirts, corsets, and platform boots—Carpenter is not just turning heads; she’s setting a new standard in pop fashion.

Christina Aguilera’s “sexy” look has reportedly come with a cost. An insider says the “Lady Marmalade” singer’s focus on her “hot body” is taking a toll on her and fiancé Matt Rutler’s relationship. While it’s said to be “doing a number” on Rutler, the former judge on The Voice “doesn’t seem to think it’s a problem.”
Aguilera’s ‘sexy’ look is a problem in her relationship with Matt Rutler
Aguilera, 43, is “all about looking as sexy as she can these days,” an insider told Life & Style. “She’s constantly showing off her body and parading around in skin-tight clothes. Most people probably assume she’s got a hot sex life to go with her hot body, but it’s actually the total opposite. Apparently, she and Matt used to have a way better sex life. But these days it’s Doa [dead on arrival] because she’s just never in the mood.

Whoopi Goldberg fired back at Donald Trump after he told supporters at a recent rally that he would “never hire” Goldberg because her comedy act is “filthy dirty” and “disgusting” (via Entertainment Weekly). Goldberg and her co-hosts on “The View” trolled Trump by walking out during the Oct. 10 episode of their daytime talk show to Christina Aguilera’s hit song “Dirrty.”
“So, we walked out to ‘Dirrty’ by Christina Aguilera, because it’s one of the words that You-Know-Who used when he was talking about me, in particular, but he was talking about us at his rallies,” Goldberg said.
Trump was at a campaign event in Reading, Pa. when he called “The View” hosts “really dumb people.” The show recently welcomed Kamala Harris as an interview guest. Trump then remembered hiring Goldberg once for a comedy event at one of his casinos, but he criticized her act for being “filthy dirty” and “disgusting.

The hosts of The View wasted no time in responding to Donald Trump‘s latest comments about them. On Thursday’s (October 10) episode, the quintet — Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, and Alyssa Farah Griffin — walked out to the tune of Christina Aguilera’s “Dirrty” for a very specific reason. Goldberg immediately took the liberty of explaining that song choice by saying, “It’s one of the words that You Know Who used when he was talking about me in particular.” She was referencing Trump’s comments at a Pennsylvania rally on Wednesday in which he claimed he’d hired Goldberg to perform stand-up comedy, but her routine was “filthy, dirty, disgusting.” He’d previously referred to the cohosts of The View as “dumb women on the show” after they hosted Kamala Harris earlier in the week. “As it turns out, I was filthy and stand on that,...

The new book Disney High gives a dark look at what once was a bright time for the Disney Channel!
Before the 2000s, the Disney Channel was an interesting network. Obviously, the focus was on Disney shows, yet it showed more original fare and specials, and the nighttime programming was more skewed toward adult viewers than just the kids. There were bits like a new Mickey Mouse Club that introduced future stars like Ryan Gosling, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and others, yet Disney didn't go for the "Tween" market.
That all changed in the 2000s with a focus on shows targeted at that trend, mostly comedies. It transformed the Disney Channel forever while launching the careers of scores of stars like Selena Gomez, Zendaya, Zac Efron, the Jonas Brothers, and many more. It still continues with new shows as Disney made these teen stars huge.

Amanda Seyfried fully supports fans who suggest Sabrina Carpenter play her onscreen daughter in Mamma Mia 3.
The Emmy-winning actress spoke with ABC News’ Will Ganss, during which he asked her about a possible third film in the franchise. While she noted that “everybody says it’s gonna happen,” she hasn’t seen a script yet.
The reporter then brought up that Carpenter has been singing “Mamma Mia” at some of the stops on her Short ‘N Sweet tour, including at Madison Square Garden over the weekend, during the surprise cover part of her setlist.
“Because we know age is sort of a forgettable construct in the Mmcu, the Mamma Mia Cinematic Universe. So people are saying, could Sabrina play Sophie’s daughter?” Ganss told Seyfriend, to which she replied seemingly uncertainly, “It’s…eh…. It’s…. Technically she could.”

Sabrina Carpenter studied and earned a master’s degree at the pop star school of Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears. The singer’s navigation of her breakout moment this year has put those lessons to good use. It shows in the autonomy present across her equally heartbroken and horny album Short n’ Sweet, but also in her handling of the criticism that has come with her unabashed embrace of her sexuality. Aguilera and Spears weathered similar storms, though that hasn’t spared her from receiving the same backlash.

Christina Aguilera fans are concerned for the singer following a recent update from her on social media. So, what is it about this recent update that has her fanbase so worried?
Christina Aguilera Continues To Celebrate Her Debut Album

The Grammy for Best New Artist has gone to some of music history’s biggest and most influential names, from Carly Simon to Adele. While the award is often the subject of controversy, including questionable eligibility guidelines and many winners not even really being new artists, it is still the most prestigious honor a newcomer can achieve in the industry. Winning the award often comes down to a combination of factors. Let’s consider how success, acclaim, and other industry shenanigans often coincide to pick the artist who takes the coveted award.
Commercial success is thought to be a main factor in winning the award, and looking at the history of winners, it’s not hard to see why. The award’s very first recipient, Bobby Darin, was a huge star with his signature hit, “Mack the Knife,” and a couple other top-10s in his debut year. Ever since,...

With 25 seasons under its belt, The Voice has seen its fair share of coaching rotations, especially because multiple seasons of the singing competition show air per year. It took American Idol twice the amount of time to reach 20 seasons, but so far, those two singing competition shows haven’t overlapped in terms of judges and coaches. The original four figures to shape the show’s trajectory were country singer Blake Shelton, Maroon 5 front man Adam Levine, “Fighter” singer Christina Aguilera and “Forget You” singer CeeLo Green.
Other celebrities with music backgrounds have cycled through the four red spinning chairs since the show began in 2011. The singers who have judged have also covered a wide range of genres from pop to country to rap and more.
Season 26’s panel has been established as Reba McEntire, who has been with the show since Season 24, veteran coach Gwen Stefani and newcomers Snoop Dogg and Michael Bublé.

Awards season will be in full swing at the Emmys on Sunday, and with it comes a new wave of heightened speculation about who got suddenly skinny for the red carpet — and whether they used Ozempic to get there.
The pressure on celebrities about their looks is nothing new and neither are medical methods to improve them. But the popularity of Ozempic and the rapid, dramatic results it creates has fueled a debate over a kind of reverse body-shaming — did she or didn’t she Ozempic? — and some are pushing back.

She parted ways with her longtime sponsor Weight Watchers after revealing she was using an unspecified weight-loss drug. “Let’s stop the shaming and blaming. There’s no place for it.”

MTV doesn’t air as many music videos as they used to, but the MTV Video Music Awards are still one of the most anticipated music events of each year. However, while the Grammys are voted on by the industry insiders who make up the Recording Academy, the VMAs have been decided by fans since 2006 (except for below-the-line professional categories like Best Direction and Best Cinematography). So who are the biggest winners of all time at these awards? Scroll down to see the most honored artists in history.

This year marked the 40th anniversary of the first MTV Video Music Awards, a milestone that’s somewhat blunted by the realization that this isn’t your mother’s VMAs. The network handed over the reins to viewers beginning in 2006, letting them pick the winners in all of the main categories. And in recent years, the VMAs have moved even further away from the “video” designation of its name, doling out moonmen for Song of the Year and Song of the Summer.
One thing that hasn’t changed about the VMAs, however, is the opportunity for show-stopping performances, something MTV acknowledged this year with a new Most Iconic Performance category. The winner in that race, Katy Perry, was also bestowed with the semi-annual Video Vanguard award. From Perry flying through the air like a, uh, firework to Madonna rolling around in a wedding dress at the inaugural VMAs in 1984, we...

That famous 2003 MTV Video Music Awards performance featuring Madonna, Britney Spears, and Christina Aguilera originally looked different. In what way? Jennifer Lopez was slated to be part of the trio and not Aguilera. Ahead, what Lopez said about not being able to perform at the 2003 VMAs. Plus, when she later took the VMA stage by storm and how Aguilera felt following the now-iconic performance.
Filming kept Lopez from performing with Madonna and Spears at the VMAs
20 years after Spears, Aguilera, and Madonna sang a medley of “Like a Virgin” and “Hollywood” and famously kissed onstage at the 2003 VMAs, Lopez told E! News that she was originally slated to be there.
Filming for a movie, however, dominated her schedule at the time.
“I was filming a movie in Canada, and we had met—me, her [Madonna], and Britney—to do it at her home,” Lopez recalled. “And then I just couldn’t get off the film.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the MTV Video Music Awards. The inaugural ceremony, held at Radio City Music Hall and hosted by Dan Aykroyd and Bette Midler in 1984, saw the Cars taking home video of the year their groundbreaking clip for “You Might Think.”
Since then, the VMAs have doled out 39 more trophies for their top prize, with only a small handful of acts joining the club of repeat winners. Taylor Swift has racked up four wins while Eminem, Rihanna, and Beyoncé have notched two a piece (both Swift and Eminem have a shot at adding to their totals again this year).
Despite MTV handing over the choice to viewers in 2006, the quality of the winners in the category has remained surprisingly consistent, with only a few total duds or headscratchers. To celebrate the VMAs’ ruby anniversary, we ranked all 40 video of the year winners from worst to best.
