Timothée Chalamet recreates one of Bob Dylan’s most famous songs and visuals with a version of “Subterranean Homesick Blues” for the upcoming biopic, A Complete Unknown.
Chalamet’s new recording of the 1965 classic is the fullest offering yet of the actor’s take on Dylan’s singular singing voice. The previously released trailer for a Complete Unknown just included snippets of his renditions of songs like “Girl from the North Country” and “Like a Rolling Stone.”
The visual, meanwhile, appears to incorporate some scenes from the upcoming biopic, plus some behind-the-scenes footage.

Searchlight Pictures released its latest marketing video for James Mangold’s upcoming Bob Dylan movie “A Complete Unknown,” again focusing on how star Timothee Chalamet mimics the legendary singer-songwriter in the forthcoming film.
In the new featurette, Chalamet as Dylan sings “Subterranean Homesick Blues” and partially recreates Dylan’s famous video for the song where he flips through placards emblazoned with the track’s lyrics.
Here’s the official synopsis for the film from Searchlight:
New York, early 1960s. Against the backdrop of a vibrant music scene and tumultuous cultural upheaval, an enigmatic 19-year-old from Minnesota arrives in the West Village with his guitar and revolutionary talent, destined to change the course of American music. As he forms his most intimate relationships during his rise to fame, he grows restless with the folk movement and, refusing to be defined, makes a controversial choice that culturally reverberates worldwide. While the unrefined masses were out impersonating Timothée Chalamet, Chalamet himself was becoming possessed by the spirit of Bob Dylan. At least, that's what the marketing for James Mangold's Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown wants you to think, and frankly, it's not unconvincing. There's a passing physical resemblance between...

Exclusive: Andrew Lloyd Webber has unveiled his new West End and Broadway musical: a magical romance called The Illusionist, directed by Sunset Boulevard’s Jamie Lloyd.
During a private audience at his penthouse office adjacent to the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, one of six theatres controlled through his Lw Theatres group, the legendary composer of Phantom of the Opera and Evita gave Deadline an exclusive preview of three of the several numbers he has so far scored.
The impresario says Oscar-winning screenwriter Chris Terrio (Argo) “has done the book very much with me, but he’s the scriptwriter.” British songwriter Bruno Major is also attached.
Lloyd Webber performed an early draft of his score to Lloyd earlier this year as they began preparing to open Sunset Boulevard, starring Nicole Scherzinger and Tom Francis, on Broadway. The show premiered at the St. James Theater on October 20 to ecstatic notices from the majority of critics.

Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy was celebrated on Thursday not for having one of the biggest movies of the year, but for his philanthropy alongside wife Serena.
The couple were honored at the A Sense of Home Gala, benefitting the non-profit that aims to prevent homelessness by creating first-ever homes and a community for youth aging out of foster care. Ted Sarandos and Nicole Avant hosted the event at their Los Angeles home, with a guest list that included Jason Bateman, Tobey Maguire, Edward Norton, Michelle Rodriguez, Terry Crews, Emile Hirsch, Scott Stuber and Molly Sims, Mayor Karen Bass and L.A. County Supervisor Holly Mitchell.
“We both got interested in the work that was being done when we started thinking about the connection between aged-out foster youth and homelessness in this city — a complicated problem with a seemingly simple answer,” Sarandos said of himself and Avant during the event.

Despite their long careers as comedy superstars, Robin Williams and Danny DeVito only got to work together once, in the DeVito-directed Death to Smoochy. “Robin Williams is funnier than he's ever been in any movie he's ever done,” said DeVito while shilling for the film. How funny? The comedian was so hilarious that the director claims working with Williams nearly led to Death to DeVito.
Williams starred as “Rainbow” Randolph Smiley, a disgraced children’s television host who vows revenge on Edward Norton’s eponymous Smoochy, the lovable rhino character who replaces him. The comedy earned the title of Roger Ebert’s worst movie of the year for 2002: “Only enormously talented people could have made Death to Smoochy. Those with lesser gifts would have lacked the nerve to make a film so bad, so miscalculated, so lacking any connection with any possible audience.”
So the movie wasn’t a winner.

It’s time to talk about Fight Club.
This month marks 25 years since David Fincher’s influential film arrived in theaters, and to celebrate, the filmmaker is overseeing a new 4K Ultra HD remaster of the New Regency and 20th Century Fox film. Fincher is also planning a theatrical re-release early next year, though details — such as a date or the number of theaters — are being kept under wraps.
In addition, Fincher will release a 25th anniversary art book, including new interviews, rare behind-the-scenes material and unearthed visuals. The book arrives via Insight Editions and New Regency.
Fight Club was considered a box office disappointment, earning $100 million, but it quickly grew into a cult hit. It helped cement Fincher as a defining director of his generation and helped 1999 become considered one of the great years in movie history.

"It was important for me to sing and play on set because it was in the spirit of the movie to do it live." Searchlight Pictures has revealed a new behind-the-scenes featurette for the film A Complete Unknown, opening in theaters this December. We also featured the official trailer a few weeks ago as they begin their big marketing push for the release. The film is about the early days of maestro musician Bob Dylan's life. At the Newport Folk Festival in 1965, a young Bob Dylan shakes up his act on the folk music scene by going electric and siring rock as the voice of a generation - defining one of the most transformative moments in 20th century music. Timothée Chalamet stars as a young Bob Dylan in this film written and directed by James Mangold, coming off of his work on the Indiana Jones movie. It also stars Edward Norton as Pete Seeger,...

Timothée Chalamet looks and sounds eerily like the young Bob Dylan in “A Complete Unknown.” In this new featurette from Searchlight, he talks about taking on this demanding role, which required him to play the guitar and harmonica while singing such classic tunes as “Blowin’ in the Wind” and “Like a Rolling Stone.” As the Oscar nominee notes,”Bob wouldn’t let himself be boxed in, which for me as a young artist is the most inspiring.”
The film, which is out on Christmas Day, chronicles the rise to fame of Dylan. The Minnesota native was just 19 when he moved to New York’s Greenwich Village in 1961. He soon cracked the folk music scene and rocked his fans in 1965 with his electric rock and roll performance at the Newport Folk Festival.
“A Complete Unknown” director James Mangold weighs in on the decision to record all the musical performances in real-time.

Everyone knows the first (and second) rule of “Fight Club”: You do not talk about fight club. But do you remember the seventh rule? Miles has invited several of his closest friends to engage in a sealed-off murder mystery game wherein he will pretend to be murdered, and then playfully ask his friends to solve an elaborate whodunnit of his devising. Blanc is there so Bron can prove his mystery can flummox an actual detective. Naturally, Blanc solves the case in a matter of minutes.
There is also a larger scheme at work, one that involves Janelle Monáe, but that is all I shall reveal here.
The first "Knives Out" was a huge hit in 2019, making $312 million on a budget of $40 million. It was widely praised, and was even nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. "Glass Onion...

Welcome to Oscar Experts Typing, a weekly column in which Gold Derby editors and Experts Joyce Eng and Christopher Rosen discuss the Oscar race — via Slack, of course. This week, we discuss Best Supporting Actor, which ostensibly has one open slot.
Christopher Rosen: Hello, Joyce! The Mets are on the brink, the Yankees are hateful, and we’re here to type about Best Supporting Actor. This race has felt top heavy since the summer, when many had Samuel L. Jackson walking away with his first competitive Oscar for “The Piano Lesson.” That feels… unlikely now and it’s very easy to imagine Jackson missing out altogether. So what we’re left with is a group of newcomers to the Oscars stage, one massive movie star, and a couple of “Succession” Emmy winners. Let’s start there, with your favorite Roy son, Kieran Culkin. Luca Guadagnino is getting ready to explore a fresh take on Patrick Bateman.
The filmmaker is in negotiations to helm a new film adaptation for Lionsgate of the 1991 novel American Psycho by author Bret Easton Ellis. The book was previously adapted into a film from director Mary Herron that starred Christian Bale as lead character Bateman, with Lionsgate releasing it in theaters in 2000.
Scott Z. Burns is writing the script for the project that is produced by Frenesy Films and is said to not be a remake of the first adaptation but rather a new take on the novel. Sam Pressman of Pressman Films — whose father, Edward R. Pressman, produced the 2000 movie — is executive producing the new version.
“We are thrilled to add another elite filmmaker to our upcoming slate,” said Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair Adam Fogelson in a statement. “Luca is a brilliant artist, and the perfect visionary...

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been dominating the Hollywood landscape for over 15 years and it shows no signs of slowing down. Though the Marvel Studios franchise has taken a number of hits in recent years, it's still drawing millions of people to the movie theaters, breaking box office records, and producing some of the most anticipated movies of each year.
From 2008's Iron Man to 2024's Deadpool and Wolverine (and beyond), there is plenty of entertainment to be found in the MCU franchise. That's one of the many reasons that fans find it so hard to rank which of the films are the very best in the series. The Multiverse Saga isn't as consistent as the Infinity Saga, but there have been some gems in there that can go toe-to-toe with the heavy-hitters. But when your heavy-hitters are plentiful, how do you choose which ones are the best?
It's all subjective,...
