Jennie Garth, star of Beverly Hills, 90210, actually didn’t love returning for The CW’s reboot years later.
The actress, who reprised her role as Kelly Taylor in 90210, which ran from 2008 to 2013, shared that she regretted participating in the remake during a recent panel at ’90s Con in Florida. “I wish I hadn’t done it. No offense to them,” she said, via People.
“The producer was a friend of a friend, and I remember he came over in my living room, sat me down, [billed it as] this chance of a lifetime. He asked me to do it and I didn’t know how to say no then,” Garth added. “But the people were very nice and all the best to them.”
Garth, Shannen Doherty and Tori Spelling were the only original actors to return for 90210, which starred Shenae Grimes-Beech and AnnaLynne McCord and followed wealthy kids at West Beverly Hills High School.

For super-producer Aaron Spelling, the man behind such preposterously entertaining television series as "Charlie's Angels," "The Love Boat," and "Dynasty," the best case scenario for the high school drama "Beverly Hills 90210" was that it would be a Thursday night counterprogramming hit. It certainly wasn't going to win its 9 Pm time slot. Though NBC was experimenting with its 9:30 spot (it eventually found a fairly decent fit in "Seinfeld"), "Cheers," the top-rated show on television, had the front end of the slot on lockdown. But, hey, perhaps Spelling and the show's young creator, Darren Star, could siphon off enough young viewers to convince Fox to give it a second season, preferably on a different night.
The show was barely a blip on the pop culture radar, giving Fox an easy excuse to blow millions on another hour-long block of cannon fodder to...

Following the news that Shannen Doherty died on Saturday after a nine-year cancer battle at age 53, her Beverly Hills, 90210 co-stars are paying tribute to their late friend on social media.
The 1988 cult classic Heathers gave Doherty her first major role. But it was 90210 that turned her into a star. She was cast on Aaron Spelling’s teen drama in 1990 as Brenda Walsh and remained on the show until 1994.
While friction with her castmates amid her divorce from Ashley Hamilton is partially what caused her exit from the series, her former co-stars detailed their decades-long friendship with Doherty following her passing, shedding light into their dynamic with the actress during her final years.
Jennie Garth described her late friend as “one of the strongest people I have ever known.” She also detailed how strong their bond was despite the fan and media-created rivalry between them during the show. “We...

Jason Priestley, Jennie Garth, Tori Spelling, Brian Austin Green, Kevin Smith, Rose McGowan, Alyssa Milano, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Olivia Munn and more in Hollywood are mourning the loss of Shannen Doherty.
Doherty, known for her starring roles on Beverly Hills, 90210 and Charmed, died Saturday. She was first diagnosed with breast cancer in March 2015; after treatment and several surgeries, she announced in April 2017 that she was in remission. In February 2020, she tearfully revealed on Good Morning America, “I’m stage 4 — my cancer came back,” then said in June 2023 that cancer had spread to her brain.
“I am absolutely heartbroken over the passing of Shannen Doherty,” Munn wrote in an Instagram Story on Sunday morning. Earlier this year, Munn shared she was a breast cancer survivor, and had undergone a double mastectomy. This weekend, the actress wrote that she had grown close with Doherty, connecting over their shared experience.

Alyssa Milano has paid tribute to her “Charmed” co-star Shannen Doherty, who died Saturday at age 53.
“It’s no secret that Shannen and I had a complicated relationship, but at its core was someone I deeply respected and was in awe of,” Milano said in a statement provided to Variety. “She was a talented actress, beloved by many and the world is less without her. My condolences to all who loved her.”
Milano and Doherty starred alongside Holly Marie Combs in “Charmed,” in which they played a trio of magical sisters from 1998 until 2001 when Doherty’s character, Prue Halliwell, was killed off in the Season 3 finale. The show would air its eighth and final season in 2006.

And then her line delivery, with her forceful, at times awkward cadence, made viewers lean in to listen. Doherty frequently looked pissed; it was easy to think that perhaps she was pissed.
Generation X lost an icon this weekend with Doherty’s death at age 53. She’s the second member of the “Beverly Hills, 90210” cast to die, after Luke Perry died of a stroke in 2019 at age 52. That’s two too many, of course, but devoted listeners of Doherty’s “Let’s Be Clear” podcast, and I am one of them, may be feeling especially confused today, and bereft. I...

Canadian procedural Wild Cards is coming back for a second season on The CW.
The renewal news came this morning as originating broadcaster CBC renewed the show and unveiled it at its Upfronts.
It marks a bit of good news for The CW, which canceled Walker earlier this week, while Canadian drama The Spencer Sisters, which it also aired, was canceled at CTV.
The show, stars Grey’s Anatomy’s Giacomo Gianniotti, Riverdale’s Vanessa Morgan and Jason Priestley, has been one of The CW’s stronger performers over the last year.
Earlier this month, The CW’s President of Entertainment Brad Schwartz told Deadline that he was keen to bring back the show for more episodes.

Canadian procedural Wild Cards has been one of The CW’s stronger performers over the last twelve months.
It was somewhat surprising, then, that the show which stars Grey’s Anatomy’s Giacomo Gianniotti, Riverdale’s Vanessa Morgan and Jason Priestley, hasn’t been quickly snapped up for a second season.
The CW’s President of Entertainment Brad Schwartz told Deadline in February that the network was in conversations with Blink49 Studios about more episodes coming to the network.
Those talks are still ongoing, but the suggestion is very much that it will continue on The CW.
“You’ll probably be hearing more announcements from us very soon,” he told Deadline this morning. “That show did great. It grew 10% versus what The Flash did in the same spot the year before. So, here we are beating shows that everyone’s very romantic about. We’d very much like to renew that one.

The series about the lives of high school students ran for exactly ten years – from 1990 to 2000. The most successful seasons of Beverly Hills, 90210 were watched by 14.5 million viewers in the US alone, and by the same number of fans around the world.
During this time, the main characters evolved from shallow high school students to complex personalities, dealing not only with common teenage problems, but also with more serious issues such as alcoholism and domestic violence.
Despite the fact that the main characters became world famous, Beverly Hills, 90210 was the first and last major project for most of the cast.

Jason Priestley has been able to embrace his love of hockey through his recent projects including Börje: The Journey of a Legend. The six-episode biopic series on Viaplay centers on the late Hall of Famer Börje Salming (Valter Skarsgård) and his fish-out-of-water journey. Brad Pitt’s character ‘One Punch’ Mickey in the film Snatch had to be dirty, smelly, and scruffy and the actor was willing to go the extra mile for the demands of the character. The character was part of a gypsy-like group of Irish travelers and Pitt decided not to wash himself to get into the skin of his character. Interestingly, old habits die hard for Pitt, who reportedly found a way around having to wash himself regularly.

Viaplay’s streaming service — specializing in award-winning Scandinavian series and films — is now available as an add-on subscription on Amazon’s Prime Video Channels in the United States.
Starting Wednesday, Prime members in the U.S. will be able to sign up for Viaplay for $5.99 per month (with a seven-day free trial available for eligible customers) through Prime Video Channels.
In February, Viaplay shut down its own app and direct-to-consumer streaming service in the U.S. and Canada, and the company has now focused its international distribution strategy in building growth via partnerships. Viaplay shut its direct-to-consumer service in February, but the Scandi streamer is still active in the U.S.
The platform has struck a deal to launch a subscription channel on Prime Video Channels, offering originals such as Börje – The Journey of a Legend, Furia and Gold Run.
The channel launches on Prime Video Channels today, offering access to Viaplay for $5.99 a month, with a free seven-day trial.
The development comes after Viaplay closed its subscription streaming app in North America after a turbulent 2023 in which the Sweden-based company made 25% of its staff redundant and restructured around a package of sports rights and unscripted content. Expensive scripted shows were axed and sold, and the streamer has since pulled out of North America and the UK.
Exits from the Baltics and Poland are also coming, with Group President and CEO Jørgen Madsen Lindemann telling shareholders the company “will be different” in its annual report last month.

Cannes stood up for Daniel Brühl, as his new Disney+ show “Becoming Karl Lagerfeld” earned a 3-minute standing ovation on Sunday.
Premiering out of competition, it captures the late German designer before morphing into the instantly recognizable figure that took pop culture by storm. And, courted by young Jacques de Bascher (Théodore Pellerin), finally opening up for love.
Local viewers enjoyed the spectacle, laughing at Lagerfeld’s awkwardness or at Yves Saint Laurent’s (Arnaud Valois) clumsy attempts at romancing de Bascher. The verdict? A “fun” and “entertaining” new show, declared Canneseries audience members, happy to share their enthusiasm with Variety even despite the language barrier: “C’est genial!”
The screening, which started with a joyful fashion show similar to Lagerfeld’s collection for Chloé in the 1970s – spotlighted in the first episode – attracted just about every celebrity in town. Including “Beverly Hills, 90210” alumni Jason Priestley and “Riverdale’s” Vanessa Morgan,...

Shannen Doherty is opening up about a scuffle she had with Jennie Garth on the set of Beverly Hills, 90210 — one that required two of their co-stars to step in to prevent the situation from escalating.
As Doherty explains in the March 4 episode of her Let’s Be Clear podcast, Garth was doing something called “Pants-Down Day, where she would pull the pants [of] some of the crew members in a funny way.” But according to Doherty, “some of them were getting pretty annoyed” by Garth’s prank, inspiring Doherty to pull one of her own.

For this month’s installment of “TV Terrors” we revisit Showtime’s “Masters of Horror,” which was created by Mick Garris and aired for two seasons between 2005 and 2007.
