Giving this a 5 due to,mixed emotions over season.
Was excited for the continuation, but sadly those feelings left.
The stories felt weak, forced & unsure of direction.
Watched season one, twice due to story & character development.
This season characters kind of were annoying, even ones liked originally.
Season one had quirky & small town charm, with serious moments.
Unfortunately season two felt, like it was trying too hard & making the stories overdone.
Got sick of the Jack,Charmaine & baby parts.
With Mel & Jack it was like, just figure things out & move forward.
Hope for a season three to finish out any unresolved storylines, otherwise wasted my time.
Especially need closure with Doc,Jack & even Preacher.
The cinematography & music, although was done right.
Season 4: After waiting.. Forever! We finally had it air & honestly, although the 12 episodes went fast the season felt underwhelming.
Was actually surprised they didn't drag out,Mel's pregnancy dilemmas or despite Charmaine finally looking pregnant(the question on everyone's mind)are the babies Jacks until after the birth.
Although Hope had a TBI she came off more annoying, than portrayed in other seasons.
The other characters although add something, more times than anything are background fluff because otherwise Mel & Jack's overall storyline would run out rather quick.
Did anyone feel that Mel,became annoying once pregnant? .. She was treating Jack suddenly like a kid,as though all he was doing wasn't right.
Not sure what season 5 will bring beyond a few expanded story elements introduced in season 4,like the grandson or the fact who Jo Ellen's husband is related to.
Feel they did a weird character arch with Brady, especially once Brie told him about a past situation.. It made him lose his characters edge not saying people can't mature, but it seemed a little dramatic.
But thinking what is left? Except,Mel having the baby & a wedding.
Sure many could wonder will Ricky come back & so forth, but again.. Filler stories.
Was nice seeing Paige return even if briefly, but ready for closure on that story too.
On a side note: Did anyone feel the only thing they could overall do for episodes was giving some kind of medical issues to people, seemed like at every corner it was one health crisis after another.
Season 5: Actually upset!
Eventually the truth of the twins would come out,but honestly talk about milking a storyline.. Birth those twins & leave for good! You deserve who impregnated you.
Than why have Mel get pregnant after her previous history, over several seasons just for her to lose that baby?
Basically feel Paige used Preacher.. Yes it was horrible what she endured, but once it was over she left him in the dust.. He invested and lost so much, talk about false gratitude.
Didn't care about Bri and her drama or that she won in court, felt she was beyond quick to just end things with Brady talk about my way or the highway.
Many other things could be further discussed such as,Mel & Jack felt like secondary characters.
The scene with Preacher and the female firefighter,in the bar was just oddly awkward.
Oh and of course another pregnancy needs to be added,to stories that have been almost overdone with said topic.
The most exciting part? The wildfire! How sad, right?
Will be watching how things plays out after previews towards end of episode 10,after being invested for this long but feel time to wrap the series up.
