Tiger King (2020–2021)
The film has value even though the cast is trash
11 April 2020
I can see why people are divided on this show , some hate it and some love it.

Based on the cast and content I'd give minus stars if I can. This a depiction of a bunch of society bottom feeders who only care about money and themselves. It is absolutely disgusting and mind numbing to watch. Even the so called pro animal rights activist Carol Baskin is a complete low life.

All of these people who partake in exploiting animals even if it's a quick picture or petting them are low life and ignorant scum of society.

But then basing my rating on the message, delivery, cinematography , directing and editing I have to give this a 10. I really hope a lot of people recognize the correct message in this piece and I hope people see the metaphor.

And if you have not gotten it yet - wild life does not belong in captivity regardless of how well you feed it or clean after it.

Very Very good

I just finished the last episode and I don't know what to do with myself. This was so so good. The acting, the story, the dialogue, the emotion.... absolutely outstanding.

At first I was not happy with the main two female characters at all , but boy what a character development especially for Kim DaMi's character. This is the best female character I've seen in a korean drama. So uniquely badass....

The rest of the cast was amazing, I loved the Tony character and the fact that the show addressed some tabu (for conservative Korea) topics ...

Congrats to everyone involved in making this, i hope it wins big

I am not much of a sci-fi fan. I like the real-life dramas portrayed in a real way with no plot holes , however this was so highly rated and I was out of dramas to watch at the moment so I gave it a go. And It was decent....

I have to say the main actor is very well cast, he is so handsome he looks like out of this world like an alien. I think i have a new crush. And he even did a cameo in "Crash Landing on you" I didn't even know!!

The main actress is absolutely gorgeous and adorable. I loved her acting , she is my new favorite Korean actress now. Need to see her filmography

The rest of the cast are all good looking and act well...

The story is 10 episodes too long and stretched out. Ending was kind of confusing but I guess okay. You could watch up to the 8th episode then skip to ep 15 and continue watching .. you wont miss match of the plot. Some of the story especially the interaction with the bad guy in a very soapy style, like dramatic eye contacts , dramatic pauses, 30fps, evil laughs and so on ... that was cheesy and I didn't like , but the romance story was good , wish it was more of it....

Season 1 very good
18 March 2020
I have been avoiding this show since the title did not appeal to me. I figured, me a 40 something, would not enjoy a show about 20 something year olds but boy was I wrong...

I have a few k- dramas under my belt and I definitely like the more mature, lusty scripts , but this ... this was real.. not some soupy lovey dovey story... I think the music had to do a lot to enhance the important scenes ... loved the music

I cried, I smiled, I cringed, I was at the edge of my seat, my heart fluttered and I cried some more... and cried again.. Actually I found myself crying each episode... wth ... 'Something in the rain' and 'Crash Landing on you' were the only k-dramas that had made me cry before... but this is different

I saw my younger self in some of these girls and I imagined my daughter in the future.

The life situations depicted here were real, raw and importation to know and be aware of.

I enjoyed Season 1 a lot ... now starting Season 2 but the main character actress is changed.. we'll see how it goes

I was expecting better
16 March 2020
This is so cheesy it's a little hard to watch. The only thing that is keeping me still interested is the love story and the chemistry between the main characters which is undeniable.

The rest of the story is a total mess and cringe fest. The fictional country is a terrible idea. What the heck is it? Muslim/arab country with orthodox churches in it? I was so confused. Also how is the military base in a half ruined church?! This whole military/doctor story could have been done better the concept is solid, execution poor.

There are also so many politically incorrect scenes, discriminatory dialog .. I get it it's Korean thing but still it takes away from the story. Plot hole galore.

Song Hye-kyo is her pouty stone cold self in this one too. Very one dimensional.

The male lead ..Song Joon ki .. oh geez .. sooo handsome and good acting. Totally convinced me he was in love with her

edit: Just wanna say I wrote this review amidst the Covid-19 outbreak and ep 11 where they deal with virus outbreak... A little close to home

Couldn't even stand the first 30 minutes. This drama is shot in like 30fps or some weird format it's like I was watching a soap opera. I am a fan of Sung DongIl from the Reply series and Lee Kwang Soo they are funny, but The female I saw in Chocolate and was not impressed.

Park Seo-Joon ....
13 March 2020
I am so impressed with this guy... what role can he not play?! I started watching Itaewon class and while waiting for the episodes each week I saw this drama and "What's wrong with secretary Kim" and Seo-joon is really growing on me. I didn't find him sexy or attractive just good actor but in this drama... gulp.... wow. He may surpass my one and only love Woo Do-hwan.

Such different range of roles which he is pulling off so well. The story is good, gets a little weak after the 11th episode but I do like the romantic parts as well.. I felt the humor was a little bit lost in translation but they executed well without too much cringe lol. I like that the story is lighthearted and the actors don't take themselves too serious.

The female lead is so good, acts so well, the female lead in "What's wrong with secretary Kim" was also good, but his female leads in Itaewon class ... ai ai ai .. terrible especially the older googling eyed one ... anyway

I enjoyed this show very much

Too funny
19 February 2020
This was too funny! Unexpectedly funny. I did not expect to like it all as it is silly humor. Had it been an American show I would've hated it but this type of humor work here. The actors are so good!

I am sure a lot of it was lost in translation but still almost every episode was hilarious. I totally lost it on the Interview episode -hilarious

Netflix where is season 2!!!?? Edit: I found the continuation of this show but it's under a different title/show and new cast , which is not as funny as the original boooo :(

How is this rated so high
12 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This was good in the first 10 episodes when the female lead was trying to get her life together and the interaction with the supporting male lead played by Wi Ha-joon. He was funny and handsome, and there was a bit of chemistry between them

The main male lead cannot convince me he like girls at all lol, and there was zero chemistry between the leads. The romance was not believable at all... terrible, ditzy, fake

I almost abandoned this multiple times...

The story is somewhat okay but i like to see solid romance in a romantic k-drama.

Crash Landing on You (2019–2020)

Outstanding!
8 February 2020
Love love love this so far....

The story is very well written and unique, having grow up in a communist country I was having flashbacks in a good way .. almost nostalgic.. from power cuts, to the school kids with the red scarfs around theirs necks .. too funny

The cinematography and color grade of the film are outstanding. Setting (Sets) is outstanding too

The cast ... all of the cast .. are absolutely outstanding. Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin are the darlings of the k drama world and not without merit. kim jung hyun is so handsome , and the four guys playing Ri's subordinates are hilarious. Actually this is the first korean romantic comedy I've seen where the humor is not lost in translation and I was able to get it.

Netflix is up to the 13th episode now and I hope the ending is good because this far it's a total gem

Just okay
3 February 2020
I was excited to see this because i have a massive crush on Woo Do-Hwan but .... it was a bit of a let down. I get it , the series is about young love and it's target demographic is definitely not the mature crowd but I couldn't help but thinking his talent was wasted on this script.

The female lead was cute and I did feel she acted good at times, but most of the time she was not believable and really ditzy (not sure if that was on purpose). The other female lead (the mean girl) was tiring to watch constantly angry or pouting. The story was good ,a bit drawn out which is the case with most k-dramas but after the 10th episode I was losing interest. Only Woo Do-Hwan kept me watching..., I guess it was a fun project for him and he is trying to appeal to the young female crowds.

I would love however to see him in more mature love story ... maybe something similar to "Something in the Rain" with a more experienced/older female lead.

lasting impression
31 January 2020
I binged this a few weeks ago and I cannot get over on how good it was. The music, story, acting, overall production.... i loved it.

At first I was confused with the soundtrack but it quickly grew on me.

The fight scenes were well done (although they never seemed to die no matter how many times stabbed lol) costumes, acting ... oh the acting .. these young actors did an outstanding job in portraying the drama, the conflict, the love, the hate, the pain....

I am totally in love with Woo Do-hwan he is a star , Seolhyun is so beautiful she will be a great actress, and Yang Sejong oh gosh such a young actor and so so good.

I am totally hooked on k cinema... oh and I am a 40 yr American/European lol ...

Decent

Can't help but juxtapose this drama with Something in the Rain because it has a very similar feel and 60% of the cast of Something in the Rain is in this drama as well.

I didn't think this matched the melodrama and frustration level of Something in the Rain. As another reviewer pointed out it didn't provide the range of emotions Hae-In elicit in Something in the Rain, maybe because his character in this drama was supposed to be more mature? In any case there is something about him that is very captivating.

I found the female lead very likable, but her character lacked in many ways to develop or show any depth. I wish they did better with her. I really liked the actress.

Ending was not memorable at all, I loved how Something in the Rain unfolded in the last two episodes and exploded in the end into something beautiful yet mysterious... there was none of that in this drama just gradually slow with predictable ending. Don't get me wrong I do not dislike happy endings just wished to be rewarded with some more loving scenes.

First review ever .... only to say wow
24 February 2019
Been using imdb for years to check on movie reviews this movie made me jump through all the hoops of registering to give it a 10 stars. Finally after all these years a true classic was made. For a while there I thought Hollywood was dead but they brought back it with this one!
