There was a lot of potential here. As other have noted, it's visually well done but the material is meh and unoriginal. Every element is recognizable from another well known movie, tv show, or book.
Also: someone should really explain to Zack Snyder that slow motion is meant to be used for dramatic effect, not for the beginning of every single motion of every single character in every single action scene. The constant use of slo-mo into normal speed for each action movement oooooover and oooooover and ooooover again makes this almost unwatchable. It probably extends the movie 15 minutes.
The acting isn't terrible but the actors are not served with a smart script or smart editing. I went in with an open mind and can usually find something to appreciate to some degree in most sci fi. Passable for a watch through but not a rewatch and I won't be waiting on the edge of my seat waiting for part 2.
