Black Summer (2019)
Has some tense moments, but characters act unrealistically.
Black Summer is watchable, and does have tense moments. But, the characters seem cliche and not able to think/reason.
I'm a fan of the Walking Dead, even though their storylines/seasons are a mixed bag. That being said......... Black Summer needs better writing for it's characters.
I couldn't get past the 1st episode of Zombie Nation for the same reason.
Gung ho characters, stupid characters, characters who don't pay attention to their surroundings, and character who don't know to search everywhere they pass thru for weapons, bug the hell out of me.
Then, the characters automatically know how to use the mix of firearms suddenly in their hands, but are too ignorant to fire single shots to conserve ammo.
I'm not a full on survivalist, but I have better than average critical thinking skills. Plus I was raised by combat vets and was taught how to handle firearms, and camp out without amenities.
There are many Americans/households that have at least one firearm. There would be plenty of places to pickup a firearm.
Any halfway intelligent person would know not to just stand out in the open, and/or yell to attract attention.
All those vehicles in the streets, many probably full or half full of gas, yet no one thinks to grab a heavy 4x4 and siphon gas from all the cars?
Not one character has to be shown how to use their firearm?
At least the Walking Dead's characters had quicker learning curves and more realistic common sense.
Oh, I'll still keep watching Black Summer. It's more entertaining than not, and better than Zombie Nation.
I give it a 5 and a half.
The Walking Dead: The Key (2018)
once my favorite show, but characters never seem to learn from mistakes
Okay, I've been a fan of TWD since day one.
I love how it's gritty, dramatic, doesn't have an all "Guess model" cast.
However, the characters never seem to learn how to deal with possible threats of groups of bad people.
Rick and the rest of the group have never done proactive against threats, and looked at it from an "Art of War" or military campaign type of thinking.
I'm not even talking about Navy SEAL, Special Forces or Elite group tactics.
Basic hunting style traps and military history book inspired planning would suffice.
Why arent they using better or more active scouts with decent signaling?
When the Saviours or other groups arrive at the front door demanding entry, why don't they have better defenses, booby traps, or explosive placed in the area where threats arrive from.
You don't have to be Rambo or special forces to finally figure out how to protect yourselves from bad guys.
i mean, how many groups of bad guys do you need to almost be killed by to finally learn?
After suffering heinously at the hands of sick individuals leading groups of heavily armed goons, even people not normally prone to killing would be hardened by now.
I don't miss Carl, as his character got on my nerves.
Rick is surprisingly bad at accuracy for someone who has spent years placing head shots in zombies.
So many chances to shoot Neegan and EVERYONE screws up or wusses out?
Come on now. One of Neegans own people would have probably fragged him by now in a power grab. That's the realism that needs to be brought back into the show.
I still like the show, but it has gone down hill, and the script writers and character progression is severely lacking this season.
The preacher should just die already. There is no reason to mix religion into the show.
I give this episode a 6/10. Some episodes still get an 8, and some as low as 4.
AfterThought (2007)
Crap movie with D actors
These actors are horrible.
Why do directors/casting use obvious 25-30year old, and try to make us believe they are in high school?
They would have been better off using 17 year old.
they would probably have had better acting skills than these "adult" actors.
The script is all over the place.
Who came up with the stiff dialog?
I couldn't get through this movie, and it takes a lot to make me stop watching a film.
At least I didn't pay to see it.
Northern Exposure (1990)
Still a favorite of mine. I loved Janine Turner(Maggie).
One of the best shows to come out in the 1990's. Every episode was entertaining and never failed to pull me in and keep me coming back for more. Maggie was very hot with a sexy girl-next-door/outdoorsy look and personality. She made me wish I was Joel Fleissman! The actress playing her(Janine Turner), is still very sexy. Ed was a cool character, acting slow and weird but essentially a good natured film buff. I enjoyed the native American characters. They brought a natural/spiritual, zen-like feel to the show. Is there really a town like this anywhere? Somebody please let me know so I can see it for myself. I don't know why they ended the series. The show would have been fine if they didn't have Fleismann go back to New York. I think the show revolved too much around his character. Definitely worth buying all the seasons on DVD.
