Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (2023)
Not bad but not good
This movie is no where as good as the first, but it isn't bad.
I feel like there were obviously scenes with Amber Heard that were cut but shouldn't have been. Especially considering she has two brief scenes in the fight for their son back. The lack of her fighting scenes is frustrating because I found her the most interesting to watch in the first movie.
I don't know who was in charge of the editing but the random slow motion has to go. The script is horrendous. It's like every line is trying to be that standout one liner. The plot is fairly predictable.
This movie had the potential but just kept falling short.
Matilda: The Musical (2022)
I didn't want it to end
This was utter perfection, like complete and utter perfection. The casting choices were perfect. Alisha was perfectly witty as Matilda and Lashana was an amazing Miss Honey. Oh and her voice was absolutely fabulous, I wish she had sung more. Emma was completely unrecognizable as Trunchbull and I did not know that she could sing. The ensemble were insanely talented, like where the heck did they find so many little kids who could dance and sing? The choreography was great along with the songs. I kinda wish they included Telly but I can understand why it was left out. I know they also left out Matilda's brother but I didn't mind at all. In all it was great!
The Flash: Duet (2017)
Has absolutely nothing to add to the shows plot but...
I love this episode. It's so fun and surprisingly well done for a CW musical episode. Though I guess that makes sense considering much of the case has a musical theatre background, which really is the whole point of this episode; it exists as an excuse to have them all sing. Unlike other CW musical episodes *cough cough riverdale* this one has minimal auto tune and is actually well done. It's all happy and fun, and the guest star is fantastic if you're a fan of Glee. Other than that, it is an episode that can be easily skipped as it is a one episode plot line (though it gets some couples back together)
Resident Evil (2022)
I hate cliffhangers so please give me a season two
Though I understand it's not very accurate to the game, it's still a very good show. The writing and the acting were all very good and I quite liked the cast, though I'm used to the actress who played Jade having an English accent so I was a bit thrown off each time she spoke. I'm sad that it was canceled, especially since it left us hanging. Like at least give us a second season to tie it all up, or give us some idea to what it may of looked like. Overall, it was a good show in its own right, with a strong cast and pretty good writing. Oh, and the soundtrack was excellent, it really added to the show.
Bridgerton (2020)
2nd Season
Usually I find myself disappointed by second seasons of shows, especially when the first is so good, and as such did not have the highest of hopes heading into season 2. Having recently completed it I can confidently say that it's better than season one. What about it made it better I cannot say, though I am a sucker for forbidden romance and the removal of those awful sideburns made Anthony 10x hotter. The second season is a must watch with a thrilling slow burn and an incising story. I cannot wait to see how this show plays out and stand witness to each Bridgerton siblings season and the pages of gossip it will bring.
Cinderella (2021)
Rather funny
I don't understand how, but I found this movie to be hilarious. Perhaps it was how the songs were seemingly ironically chosen or all of the jokes I may of not picked up on if I were younger. Idina Menzel was fabulous as always and Camilla Cabello was rather wonderful, she really excelled in emotional scenes. Overall I'd say this is the perfect to watch maybe with a younger sibling or child, they'll enjoy it and you'll get the jokes that fly over their ends.
What If...? (2021)
Cool new perspective
I quite enjoyed the first episode. I loved seeing Peggy and Steve in this new way and seeing all the ripple effects Peggy taking the serum would cause. I don't understand why people are rating this one star, especially when they complain about it being "woke-ism". Peggy taking the serum isn't Marvels attempt at being "woke", it's them exploring different timelines and showing the fans how one choice can change everything. My one complaint for the show would be that the words didn't always line up with the lips of the characters, which I understand is difficult to do with animating but nevertheless it still bugged me. Overall I enjoyed the first episode and am excited to see what different paths "What if" will take us down.
October Faction (2020)
Gets better
I check IMDb before I watched so my hopes were not high, but as a Shadow Hunters fan I was willing to give it a try as two actress from it are in this. It's started at slow and kind of confusing, but as each episode progressed it became more interesting. The writers do not assume you know the characters and instead build up an interesting backstory. Some of the characters are definitely annoying, Vic is mainly angry most of the time, her character lacks depth and dimension. Fred, her father, annoys me for some unknown reason. Alice is by far the most interesting character. Episode 5 and onwards is when the show really kicks off, and episode 8 is by far my favourite. It's a show worth getting in to, and with only ten episodes it won't take up too much time.
Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn (2020)
Overall an enjoyable film
So I love Harley Quinn and was so excited to see this film and went it to it with high hopes. It did not disappoint.
The cast was incredible, each portrayed their character so well, with a great deliverance on lines. Margot Robbie was absolutely hilarious, a truly entertaining Harley. Whoever played the villain did a fantastic job. The actress who played Dinah though is the one who really stood out to me well watching, Full House fans may recognize her as she appeared on the show as a child. The movie was a joy to watch and full of laugh, from the jokes, to the awesome fight scene the movie was overall enjoyable.
What Keeps it from being great though is the fact that it's all over the place, which may be intentional since it's Harley who's telling the story, along with the fact that it's not exactly true to the comics but then again how often do comic adaptations stay true? Despite the movie being all over the place it was still quite easy to follow.
If you're looking for a funny, girl power sort of movie I'd check it out.
Pandora (2019)
It gets better if you give it a chance
The first episode was crap but what shows first episode isn't. It slowly starts to get better though with each episode.
Charmed (2018)
Not bad, give it a chance
I honestly hate it when people compare the reboot to the original. It's not going to be the same and that's ok. Everyone who's complaining about it and how it's different, well what do you expect? Topics they cover will no longer be the same and your no longer a teenager so some of the drama may no longer appeal to you. I for one am a fan of the original and this reboot. Each are different in their own good way.
Quantico (2015)
Started off good
The first season was good and I really enjoyed it, the second season was ok, but the third is where it started to go downhill. I stopped watching the show for whatever reason in the middle of the second season, but after hearing that the show had been canceled I was curious to why. I re watched the first season and enjoyed it as much as I did the first time and then skipped to where I was in the second season. After starting the third season I could see why it had been canceled. There was no one big problem to solve, every episode was a new bad guy, nothing connected like it once had. There was one episode I watched that really confused me because it didn't have a clear mini time jump and because they randomly killed off one of the supporting characters. It also just because to hard to follow along. In saying all this I am not yet done with the third season and am hoping that there is a recovery sometime along the way. But in all yes I would recommend the show, or at least the first two seasons.
