We're the Millers (2013)
Terrible script
All the funny jokes of this could be listed in a small passage. Guess it's for people who like Aniston. The script is the worst thing in this :( Please don't watch.
Bodyguard (2018)
Good production value with blatant spit-your-face propaganda
Had to give it a 1 to give my share of getting the average down. Well made, written, acted, edited, but man, what year are we living in to endure so much propaganda? Ministers sincerely believing in taking away constitutional freedoms for security? :D Secret service having a high moral code and trying to get more power to fight organised crime? :D Not shooting someone because there is an innocent civilian nearby? :D As always, it was not a systemic problem in the end, just some scattered rogue elements.. And of course, the muslims deserved it :)
It was an exciting watch, but utterly horrible propaganda :(
Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit (2014)
Propaganda at its best!
The production quality of this movie is not the worst. Even ms. Nightley's supermodel-like performance (3 types of the blue steel) was not the problem.
The problem was with the screenplay and the idea conveyed to millions around the world who saw this movie that Russia is capable of damaging the US economy and the Russian government wants to do it on principle.
Nothing can be further from the truth: 1. Russia could never hurt the US economy - the scale is simply too different, 2. the Russian government is in the pocket of the owners of the US and that tightly knit maffia would never even think about something like that for 0,2 seconds.
It's really sad that this kind of lies can be so easily be planted in the heads of the audience. The bottomline is we are in another cold war that will benefit no-one else but the owners of the world.
Bespredel (1989)
A much deeper topic than a simple jailhouse number
This movie portrays the eternal struggle of the free-spirited against the 'natural order of things in society'.
There are two main groups - the sheep and the wolfs - the controlled and prayed upon and those in power. But then there is that very slim layer of society that deeply understands the injustice of this order and also the fact that it'd be so easy to turn things around and get rid of that injustice, if only a significant portion of those sheep realised how much force they were yielding in comparison to the wolfs.
The movie portrays brilliantly that idealistic endeavour via 2-3 main characters. And also that fundamental flaw of human nature that get from our animal beginnings to save ourselves at the expense of the wellbeing of the group. This flick shows what strength of character can mean even in the environment where only brute force seems to matter. And then it shows just how hard it is for the good to organise and act for the greater good. How society demolishes those few that raise their heads to go against injustice.
I recommend this movie to everyone over 30 or who has grown over the age of viewing this as an action movie. This is a very accurate portrayal of our society even if the setup is different in terms of decorations.
