The Bikeriders (2023)
feel miss something
Despite came up with a really great narrator story telling style, it kinda feel miss something about direction of the story. It tell something about this group while at the same times it loose the way of focusing to provide some core story.
I dont if it's because there's some side or background stories that i think it's not really necessary.
Honestly i need time to accept accent from a couple of characters in the movie, i don't really know if was used to it while watching or its getting better suiting the the set. All of character seems do their part really well delivery an excellent act.
Overall, good movie.
Civil War (2024)
as a person who doesn't watch that much
I like this one, came from a person who doesn't have much reference for war movie with this setting (civil war) this one sure make me have a standard from now on.
The main characters do a great job delivery each of their background. So we all kinda have a clue who they are.
I love how each movie section offered a different vibe, it was like we been invited to roller coaster emotion, sometimes it really tense and the other can make u smile.
But at the end it almost feel the next part is already expected. Since they doing the pattern for entire movie. But its still quite fun for me personally.
A very good job on plot.
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (2024)
almost feel the same
We all here for that titan fight that we promised will get right? Well if its that stuff we talking about, than this movie already doing their job. With outstanding way? No really, but its pretty good.
Despite all the gigantic fight and the all out war, we kinda see through what the last fight are going to be. That's because this one really put obvious step by step fight process which i really can't tell was it good thing or the oposite.
The rest, you gonna pretty much realize that the effort mostly go to the big guys, so the "ground" scene its self its hanging on the tip of "what in the world do they plan to with the stories?"
The Equalizer 3 (2023)
the curse of the third movie
Compare to the other movie, this start to feel that we already knew the formula. The sequence. Become a little bit predictable.
I was only waiting for the scene that i already knew will coming, rather than excited to see what's going to happened. They do something about the phase of the story so we can build more emotion. Personally for me "the equalizer" that i expected is already there, but as a new movie this one doesn't really held the expectation from this huge sequel.
Overall this entire movie was kinda carried by denzel alone, he's doing all the works. Some of protagonist characters have great performance but the rest was simply pretty normal.
Air (2023)
is either matt damon or the story
For me personally, Matt Damon play a huge part on this movie so it can become this solid. Damon really put his self to be absorb to the character with not too much kind a way.
With this line up, its really hard just to deliver a good performance to stand out, its has to be great. And Matt damon really do it perfectly.
The story it self was really have a good phase, although from the middle it start to feel a little rush, but with they take times with the starting and background, they can speed up with no issue about the story.
It doesn't have breathtaking ending, but its good enough to be a great way to closed a story. Good movie, easy to watch.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023)
Did it again, 3 times this time
This Sequel Amazingly consistent with the way it deliver the story. It's pretty rare to see this kind of consistency on today movies.
The romance, Comedy, Actions, from all aspect such writing, scene, the change of layout resolution. Genius. Really Genius.
They did the story justice to make gamora decide what she had to do in the last part. Thats a good story right there.
The closing, it was really warm and thoughtful. They really wrap it all with such solid ending. I think with that kind of ending, we all will be happy for whatever this franchise decide to GOTG next decision.
I think this series is one of the greatest sequel marvel ever had.
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts (2023)
7 from me, 8 for people give bad comment cause the 'side' factors
Saw a lot of comments saying about the mc doesn't really 'represent' what they expect. Pfff, it's their problem.. been seeing all transformers movie and i can tell you this wasn't that big of a problem.
Cheesy script? Agree on that,
Lame story? Maybe,
bad CGI? To be fair, yes for some of the scene.
But if i stand as a man, especially as a boy who grow up with beastwar, man this movie somehow meet the expectation. With a little more budget, it will get there.
The maximals, dude that crew really bring some good memories. I got really upset about how the interaction going on, but i mean this movie doesn't suppose to be that serious either.
Well done for the fight scene. Not over, pretty solid. I think i don't really excited about the cross over, i just hope they really make this franchise more serious. Because for some of us, transformers will always have that special place on our childhood.
The Covenant (2023)
Commitment on point
First of all, Solid. A lot of value we can learn here
Great performance from main character, Jake Gyllenhall really delivered some of his great performance. With additional a couple great line, his character were really strong. Same goes with Dar Salim delvered Ahmed.
Despite the accuracy of the actual fact, the whole movie really execute each part of story really good. Straight to the point, and didn't really waste any scene. Fast introduction to main story line, didn't rush, give audience cooling down moment before go back to action. Thats pretty wise move.
Its war movie, i know some cgi will feel off. But its still great movie.
A Man Called Otto (2022)
An Easier one to understand
Seen a couple of film with concept lately, and for those who search for an easy yet still very touching one. You might one pick this one.
Personally for me the dialog is really on point, Otto character really have solid foundation. With that so much light on him, this movie still can gave the other character their own spotlight. Quite tricky in term of portion i think.
The story it self its not really that new fresh kind of stories. But deliver in a really great way, with that the story have its power again.
Some of the cat scene can be much better thought, just need to have a little bit more effort to it. But overall, its an light great warm movie.
Black Adam (2022)
Great fight, don't expect stories
It depend of what you expect.
Is it gonna be a strong super heroes stories? Not really from i recall. DC didn't really bother to make something really great with the stories for the past couple of movies. So does this one.
But the fight scene was pretty they thing, black adam its not going to tell you what is this and what is that. It just gonna show you some cool super heroes funny great scene.
And for those who set lower expectation its going to be really fun. I must admit.
I dont really know if this going to have a huge impact on the whole dc universe, but this one as stand alone movie so far its really fun.
Im Westen nichts Neues (2022)
Beautiful
Yes it was a film that i expected, both story and the message they try to deliver.
But i didn't know they will bring this with a really beautiful way. This movie bring all the things that we know a war will bring, with a touch of really amazing scene.
Great performance, the simple story from the main character really bring something that sew every message that try to tell, the connection was warm, sad, and again beautifully told along with all bitter reality about the war.
Loved the phase, the cut, the way their try to showed how different each situation is perfectly done. With so much amazing shoots in it
Great job.
Nope (2022)
I can see the ambition
It feels like this one have a great vision to achieve something complex. Unfortunately, it been swallow by it own goals.
Because u got that plot twist kind a movie, with good start and a couple of miss shoot in it. Loved the script, performance, fun and weird on the great balance. But somehow the story got off little by little from the un-expected element that this movie try to bring.
But the intention was there, and personally i can feel it. Overall it was a funny chaos movie (in a good way). If u seek for fun and killing time, i think this one has no problem at all.
You can always try the new formula, but like the other formula, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, and sometimes u just not sure.
Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
Almost that "fun"
I think I get it, it's feel like stand alone movie. Taika really expand his own universe, try a lot of stuff. Which for some pov, it's great. Become something totally fresh.
But on the other hand people follow this franchise for a reason. It's stay for this long for a reason, people loved the formula
To be fair, the scenery have some beautiful scene ever on marvel, loved the music too, brave writing also.
But I feel like it's being hold to secure something, if it meant to be all out just don't hold anything. With that the movie will either totally loved or hated. But I think that situation worth to try.
The Gray Man (2022)
Not bad, and not special
The drone shot was new. I loved the stories, but something off at the end of this movie. Idk if its because the kid or somethings else.
The actors do a great job. Somehow i think this movie can be much good than this one. Idk, just a feeling tho.
Beurokeo (2022)
Its a pretty great stories
One of the thing that i like about this kind of stories is they take their time, not rushed into the main story. Finally it deliver a really strong story line.
Some of the shot really have a great cinematography potential. I'm not sure why they didn't push this factor.
Overall its pretty solid movie. Not great, but solid.
Tenki no ko (2019)
Less complex
In terms of detail? Nothing change, in fact this one seems show a great improvement. More than happy if this anime was 2 hours duration. Makes my eye healthier hhaha.
From the story it self this one doesn't really put audience to really focus about whats going on, its pretty light for me personally. The drama that this one provide is on point on that normal level. I liked it, not that great but overall its still one of makoto shinkai best animation.
Prey (2022)
A new start
This can be a great start to re write the entire franchise reputation so far.
Great stories, doesn't scare to step back and take it's time. Produced a solid background for that. Even thought it kinda feel miss a couple things but well build stories overall.
Personally doesn't really fan for the decision for taabe character at the end, for the shake of character dev, i know but still doesn't like it hhaha
overall great fighting scene, love all naru style and the way she close the fight. I hope a great sequel can came from this start.
Zhou (2022)
a intens refershment for this genre. finally
I think the last time this kind of movie can really make me feel terrified is when the first Paranormal activity came out. Like this one, it feel new, fresh, so we pretty much didnt know what to expect. And that's really good for a horror movie.
It takes something to make a horror movie without showing the main ''evil'' of the stories on the most of the movie. For me this one was doing an excellent job.
Kinda feel there would be a second movie. Hhehe.
Hustle (2022)
Been a while since a good sport movie
The first thing i can noticed is how Adam Sandlers really have the chemistry on this role, i can feel how he personally love this game.
The story doesn't spend too much unnecessary side story, great portion.
All the role has a good performance despite all the athlete background, beautiful light sport movie.
22 July (2018)
shocked
A view from a person who doesn't heard about this tragedy.
I can really see what this movie want to bring from the start. They do a great job the way the story being told.
The act was amazing. Incredible delivery.
Jurassic World Dominion (2022)
What is this? Fast to Furious Jurassic World?
What is this? Is it Chris pratt that too expensive so you abandoned anything else? Or what? What is it that make it so worth to deliver this kind of quality movie with so much memories on everyone hearth?
Cheesy script, ruined so much iconic scene, poor act. Tbh didn't which effect the other one.
Trying so hard to shift Jurassic franchise vision, and forget what this movie all about?
I'm a big fan, Dr. Alan Grant was my super heroes as a kid. And u guys successfully ruined his character up.
The only thing that stop me for giving a 4 is a new kind of dinosaur in here.
The Black Phone (2021)
Ethan hawks shoulder this movie quite hard hhaha
I'm fan of crime movie, and just enjoyed horror movie.
Turns out both of those genres can be this balance on
the right hand.
The background was quite fast, I think that's because
they chase a certain duration. But for me that's
"pretty" enough for foundation of this movie.
The movie doesn't spend too much time for doing a
great start, they let their viewers to get in the point
fast. Which is pretty good for me. Doesn't really offer
that much complex crime story.
The Sea Beast (2022)
Came from a deep ocean lover
I love this kind of animation theme. Always love it. When i first saw The Sea Beast, my expectation was this movie will have the same energy as moana and show so much beautiful ocean scene. And i was wrong, i was stun each time they amazingly succeed to catch deep ocean moment point of view. That scene have a really great detail in term of feeling.
Also love the whole conversation with unique and fun term of words using. It's another set bar movie for me. Great job.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)
Long way ahead
I see that MCU want to make this new phase with a different vibes, darker maybe? They still got a lot things to catch up. Compare to all the movie that has been up until this, off course people put a lot of expectation. And this one surely can't meet that i guess.
But for me, this is the first step again. It's quite messy. Idk why they seems in a hurry to build this second phase (ex: eternal)
give them a time.
Uncharted (2022)
Didn't play the game
They sure make tom do a lot of gymnastic coreo a lot, i mean some of it doesn't even feel right. I know that this has to be 'the game' thing, but at least put a little story on that movement.
I feel like there's a lot of good line, but also a lot of 'nah' line all the way till the end. So it covered up the good one.
I have big expectation, since a movie that came from a game was a big thing. But i think we still don't get what we want till now does it? Hhaha.
