The Lucky One (2012)
I am usually a fan of Nicolas Sparks but I can't let go of Marines being called "Soldiers"
Not only did I make an effort to watch the movie but I also attempted to read the book. I couldn't accomplish either.
It wasn't the story. I didn't even get that far. It was the authors lack of simple research that killed it for me. It isn't hard to figure out that a Marine is a Marine, or a jarhead or some other nickname, but NEVER a "Soldier!" I got halfway through chapter two, and about 15 minutes into the movie, but there were too many screw ups pertaining to this characters Military Service.
I should also point out, that I am a female civilian. I have NO military affiliation at all. I don't have any military family or anything of the sort, yet I manage to keep Marines, Seaman, Soldiers, and Airmen in their own proper buckets. Using those terms incorrectly is just very unprofessional to me
Speed (1994)
I was 10 years old when I first watched Speed & rewatched it yesterday
I was indeed 10 in 1994. Even back then I loved watching action movies with my Dad. Actually just recently my Father & I watched The John Wick movies (also great).
Being 10 there's a lot of things you don't notice... like how mind boggling gorgeous Keanu Reeves was! WHEW. I'll be rewatching Speed a lot more often now that this has been brought to my attention.
The movie itself is a nail biter. Even as an adult I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. It was also very realistic. Not counting a few very minor screw ups, I was actually impressed with the special effects and stunts in the movie. Oftentimes if I watch a movie that old, i end up asking myself how I ever believed such a horrendous performance but that isn't the case with Speed. It still keeps up with today's action movies as if it were released yesterday.
I'd give it 11 stars if I could find a poster of Keanu's 1994 arms.
Good Time (2017)
Face paced, frantic, weird and disappointing all at once.
It was a little difficult for me to get used to Rob in this movie. I wasn't sure what to expect, especially since his character is so unlike the typical pretty-boy Vampires and billionaires he usually plays.
The movie starts off fast, and grabs your attention. A very odd series of events will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout the movie too. The disappointing part didn't happen until the end for me. It was like
GO!GO! GO! (For an hour) and then "aw. Wtf just happened?! It's over!! That's CRAP!"
The end just has zero closure to it, and it's ceerainly not a happy ending. Other than the end, I thought it was pretty great. Rob is Very talented: and the weird things he had to do in this film, are great for showing off his abilities as an actor.
Fear & Shame (2017)
Very interesting & the most entertaining 3 minutes of my life.atx
I didn't see the Twilight Movies until this year. I guess all the talks of how stupid sparkly vampires were, turned me off. Then Netflix decided I was going to watch it anyway. I ended up loving all the Twilight movies but I never realized until just this moment when I watched this short, that this was thee Robert Pattinson. I don't know how that happened, probably because I saw this video, before I ever saw Twilight, so it didn't actually hit me until I just now watched this short again.
Either way; I find it to be brilliant, hilarious, creative & completely worthy of 3 minutes out of your day. That's at least what I'm supposed to say, I think. The reality is, I think it actually means more than that, but it will likely go over most people's heads. People without anxiety will never understand it, until they have to deal with it. I can't imagine having people in my face with cameras all day. I would have a train of ongoing panic attacks constantly. I hate leaving my house now, and nobody cares If I do. If one day people did actually care that I walked outside, or changed my clothes, I would likely lock myself away, and be forced to resort to hot dogs myself. I hate hot dogs. I can't tell if Robert is saying he actually likes hot dogs. Or if he hides himself away from his fame and the crazy people outside so much... that he was hungry enough for the hot dog to look good.
I suppose I look at things slightly differently because of my work with Veterans of the Armed Forces as well as Active Duty Troops. It took awhile but eventually I learned that the uniform doesn't make anyone a good person, despite their bravery and sacrifice for our country, they're still only human and have feelings just like anyone else. They're trained to act like robots and in turn are treated like machinery. We (America's society) do something similar to famous people here that I can't understand myself. People are people to me. Some of them have a ton more money than I do, but that doesn't make anyone a better person, or more important than the homeless Vietnam vet on the street in my opinion. I believe this was part of the point Pattinson was trying to make.
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 (2012)
100% improvement over the first Twilight.
Even though I loved the movies, there were some really awkward moments in the first one. I'm glad that was cleared up. I only rated this 9 stars bc it's my least favorite of them all. I hate that Edward leaves. I've watched all of the Twilight movies at least 15 times a piece. When it comes to this one, I basically fast-forward through the entire middle/Jacob parts, and to the end when Edward comes back. Jacob (as an actor) doesn't show the same chemistry that Edward does with Bella, and it made me despise the middle 60 minutes. Lol
Twilight (2008)
This is awkward...
I never had any desire to watch Twilight at all. It's 2018, and I still hadn't seen any of the Twilight movies. I accidentally ended up watching the first Twilight because Netflix just randomly rolled into that, after I watched Chicago Fire. Not sure how Netflix got from point A to point B, but whatever.
The awareness comes from the fact that I actually LOVE Twilight, and the other movies in the saga... but I also agree completely with the people pointing out the embarrassing dialog and awkward moments throughout the movie. I think this one is still my favorite of the Twilight movie, but it's worth pointing out that this is the only one with all the weird awkward moments. The other Twilight movies don't have that issue. The dialog improves 100%, you can tell the actors are more comfortable and for Gods Sake... the way that the Vampires do their pouncing, irrational long-flying-type-jumps... are so much better after this movie. Just the way Edward looked when he jumped a far distance, was almost enough for me to turn it off.
Hopefully other people who hated this one because of the dialogue, were still brave enough to watch the other movies in the saga because they truly are much better.
