Put any political stuff aside
6 June 2024
Put aside all the clear ideological views forced on you by this show, it's just bad even if you like that stuff. At least so far.

I was a fan growing up. Watched the movies, read a ton of books, and just know way too much about this fake universe in general. But I was a loyal fan. Willing to actually spend money on it.

Not anymore, I'm done. It's not like they can't make a good Star Wars show that long time fans love and that makes new fans.

Andor is a terrific show. They just seem to not want to. They hate fans like me and it shows.

But we don't have to wonder because they say as much in interviews.

It's a little sad to lose Star Wars, but I just don't care anymore. I'm over it. They can run it into the ground if they want.

It's fine.
18 March 2024
I was a big fan of Guy Ritchie because of his first couple of movies and his Sherlock Holmes movies.

I grew up in the criminal underworld and spent some time involved in it as a young adult.

His first films were gritty and authentic. His characters seems like people I actually knew. Albeit, a little exaggerated, but not far from what real criminals are like. The movies just felt like they could be real. For whatever reason, he was in touch with the realworld criminal element.

But then he just started making movies with outlandish criminal types that only exist in the minds of people who have never even met a criminal.

That is what this show is. And the movie.

Which is fine, it's just not why I liked his movies, or why I placed value on anything that had his name on it.

This show is also fine. It's entertaining enough and I'm sure people will like it, but it's just like any other out of touch criminal story. Which, in my opinion, makes it average and having the Guy Ritchie name attached to it no longer means anything to me.

Why happened to Guy Ritchie?
21 April 2023
Guy Ritchie used to be in touch with the streets and criminal life. His movies felt authentic and kind of gritty. I don't want to totally rip the guy for 1 or 2 bad movies but it seems like the magic is gone. Did he get too popular or something?

This story felt like it was written by a person that never met a criminal but, in the fantasy land of their mind, this is what they think they're like. It was just silly.

His older movies do have a light hearted and comedic take on the criminal life, but the core of the characters always felt authentic. You could watch and think, "yeah, I know people like that," and they were believable.

These characters were ridiculously silly, and just dumb. Like he's out of touch and trying too hard.

It was entertaining enough to watch the whole thing, though.

What...?
23 January 2023
What was that? Bill Burr is funny as hell. I would think he has great taste in comedy too, but this was horrible.

I came across this on Netflix. I didn't know what it was, or who the comics were, but just seeing "Bill Burr" and that it's a show with comics that he likes made me think I it was going to be hilarious.

It wasn't. It wasn't even funny.

What happened? Is he messing with us?

He came out and did an intro. Not very funny but, okay. Then he introduces the first comic. Michelle Wolf! One of the least funny comics in existence!

I don't know. Maybe he needed the money. Maybe he wanted to mess with Netflix.

Maybe they held his family hostage and forced him.

Who knows, but I can't believe I wasted my time with this garbage.

Great Characters
20 December 2022
This show has two of the most likable main characters I've seen in a while. It also has the most unlikable characters too. Not because it's bad writing, but because it's great writing. You're supposed to hate them.

It does a good job at giving to a bunch of puzzle pieces and you try to put them all together but get some wrong and it helps you fit them in correctly as the story goes. If that even makes sense.

People don't understand how brutal the world was not too long ago, this show doesn't hide that.

Nothing woke either. So that's good. Just a good story with great characters living in a very brutal world.

Pleasantly Surprised
10 November 2022
I thought the days of good Star Wars shows/ movies were over. I didn't think it was possible for Disney to make a good show without jamming some political view down my throat, but here we are, a great show with great characters.

It's a good story. We all know it. The massive undefeatable Empire doing whatever they want, and the idealistic rebels ready to give their lives to fight it. Whether you know the Left are becoming authoritarian or think it's the Right, you can watch this show and feel a rush of emotion subconsciously connecting your particular political ideology to the story.

However, the thing that I like the most about the show are the characters. Very well done. Not too much back story, and not too little.

Great acting too.

Wow
10 September 2022
I can't believe just how bad this was. I didn't expect it to be great, but I didn't think it would be this bad.

Christian Bale was good, but it seemed out of place because the rest was so bad.

More often than not I agree with the User Review Rating, plus or minus a star. It's currently at 6.6, but I think a 3 is generous.

It made me chuckle a few times but they kept using the same jokes over again.

Thor seemed dummer than usual, which is a plus for me because I think he's supposed to be.

It was also woke, of course, and this made a horrible script worse. It also seemed cheaply made. Like the special effects and layout of all the scenes had a B movie feel.

Power of the Dog??
2 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I thought this was going to be a movie about dogs taking over the world, but I don't think I seen a single dog.

Instead we get some guy, who only wears chaps, being forced to make a rope because he got caught masturbating into a dead guys scarf or something.

There's also some weird side stories about a future serial killer dissecting animals, and a woman that marries some fat guy and becomes an alcoholic because she so upset about sucking at playing the piano.

What the...
3 August 2021
Do people actually enjoy watching this?

I seen one review say "We liked the insight into what it is like to be black in America."

You look to LeBron James for insight into what it's like to be black in America?

That is one of the most insane things I've ever heard. The dude is out of touch with not only black America but all of America.

How in the world could anyone not know that.

Some people insanely think that a man like LeBron has more in common with a poor black kid from the intercity than a poor white kid from the intercity does, simply because they have the same skin color.

How is it possible for people not to see how crazy that is.

We live in a crazy world and I am just dumbfounded by the level of idiocy.

Loved it
10 July 2021
I loved the movie. It kept me interested. It made me laugh. It gave me all the right emotions for each part of the film. It made me get to know and like the characters it was supposed to and made me hate the characters I was supposed to. The fact that I know the Manson story made it more suspenseful and the ending more satisfying.

Ummmm...okay
2 May 2021
So the commander of the most effective SEAL team is a 50lb woman that looks like a strong gust of wind would blow her over?

There currently aren't any women SEALs but, okay, it's possible. So, I can live with that, but to have someone that looks like they'd lose hand to hand combat with a 10 year old is too much.

I could have even looked past that if the movie was good, but it wasn't really. I was pretty excited about it and thought Micheal B Jordan was going to be great in this. He wasn't, but I think that's more the writers fault.

The book is an excellent story, they should have just went with that or at least something remotely similar.

It really makes no sense that they use the name but not the story.

Kevin Bacon is Jackie Rohr
26 April 2021
The first season was good. I thought the second season wouldn't be as good because J. Tucker wasn't coming back, but Kevin Bacon is superb.

He is so good as Jackie Rohr that I will forever see him as this character.

He makes the show fun to watch.

The rest of the cast is great, but he steals the show.

I was so looking forward to this movie, but it was so bad. More cringe then laughs. When the prince started to sing I just couldn't take anymore and shut it off.

Talented artist but also a great human being
2 March 2021
I'm not an expert on the genre, but imo, Biggie Smalls is the most talented rapper every.

The documentary was good. Nostalgic for me.

A lot of video that I've never seen.

But I just want to mention something else and you can read it if you want or skip it.

When I was young the two best rappers were Biggie and 2 Pac.

2 Pac was also massively talented, too. However, Biggie was also a good person and 2 Pac wasn't.

Biggie actually lived the life of a street hustler, but when he made it big he wanted to leave that nonsense behind, and not only that, he also took all his friends with him. Got all them off of the street too. Just a great human being. The world is a worse place without him.

Now, 2 Pac didn't really live that life before he started making money. When he made it big the only thing he wanted to do was try to become a gangster. And he more or less accomplished it by hooking up with some of the biggest scumbags he could find and becoming the worst possible person he could be.

When he was in NYC he tried connecting with criminals and rolled around the city like he was a gangster but he wasn't. So, some real gangsters decided to rob him and his I guess his pride got hurt. So, he ran to the West like a little girl and started all that dumb East vs West nonsense that he made up.

You could say it sold more records but I don't think so. The records would have sold anyway because the music was good.

In summary, Biggie was an actual hustler that made it big and got out of the life because he was a good person and actually knew what it was like to have nothing and to have to hustle to eat. He knew how horrible that life can be.

2 Pac was a wannabe gangster and a scumbag.

Dinklage was great as usual
20 February 2021
Dinklage was great as usual and it started off good. I hated the main character and was rooting for her downfall like any non-sociopath would, but then it seemed as though she was supposed to be the hero and the plot just took a downturn. The last min of the movie was good, though, but not enough to save it.

So much wasted potential
9 February 2021
I saw the negative user reviews and thought, "They could be wrong. I like the actors; I like the genre. This must be better than they're saying" Nope. They were right. So much wasted potential. It's watchable but the way they tell the story isn't that great and neither is the ending.

Very close to my experience. Rewatch for the sequel.
7 February 2021
I know some people have said this movie is unrealistic, but it was more or less pretty similar to my experience. It's been over a decade since I lived that life, but it brought back some painful memories and reminded me how lucky I am. I thought the movie did a great job of portraying what most days are like for a addict. I have been all of these characters wrap into one. Most days are the same as the day before. So, if you want to see the sequel, just rewatch this movie. Side note: Seems as though no matter where you live the dope man takes forever. Every addict has the same experience. "I'm 5 min away.... No go here instead, I'm 15 min away... I'm coming over the bridge I'm 10 min away" Just goes to show, they sell drugs for a reason. Because they're horrible businessmen.

24 December 2020
I'm in the middle of season 4 and I just can't watch the rest. I enjoyed the first 3 seasons but Dan Levy's character is making it in unwatchable now. He's a horrible actor and his story line is very boring but season 4 is mostly him.

Really? That's how you ended it?
30 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I thought this was good up until the last bit of it. The ending was boring. No real twist or anything. The way it built up I was expecting some crazy twist, and was very disappointed that it ended without one. Just a "yeah, he did it." Also, just as a side note, the kid hides the murder weapon, cleans all the evidence off of it because he didn't want his dad to get in trouble, but then all of a sudden he's shocked to find out his dad killed someone?

19 June 2020
I'm not an art critic. When I watch a movie I just want to be entertained. It's very simple for me. So, maybe this is some great artistic work, but I don't know anything about that.

In my opinion, everything about this movie was great except for the story. It was scattered, random, and just went nowhere.

Underrated
6 May 2019
I think this movie is a classic. Very underrated. I don't like watching a movie over and over, but I've seen this one many times and always enjoy watching it.

From looking at the polarized ratings, I think it's safe to say that you can't know if you'll like this movie from the ratings. You have to watch it yourself.

At first when it ended I thought, "Well, that ending sucked." I was angry and it felt like there was no resolution. However, after some thought I realized that that's the point, to make you feel how the characters felt. It worked.

What are they teaching these kids?
7 August 2018
The people that are the most vocal about helping African- American students succeed are the same ones that are harming their chances the most. This documentary shows some of the reasons why. For example, the mentality that they are instilling in them.
