Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty (2022–2023)

Cancelled even before reaching the peak?

The decision to cancel the show is still mindbogglng to me. I thought they received positive reviews from critics and fans.

Anyway, I really enjoyed the show. I might be biased as I'm a big Lakers' fan. But I think the combinaton of well established stars (Reilly, Brody, Clarke) and the least known ones did work. I really like Quincy Isaiah acting as Magic, it's perfect. The different pace between first and second season might be confusing but it's not a major flaw. The cinematography is also very good and it fits the narrative of the show. It's Lakers, 1980's Lakers, the showtime.

Again, I'm still annoyed with the show cancellation. I thought there could be more saucy stories or plots to be developed in the following seasons.

Wilderness (2023)

Incoherent slow burning mess

I was actually looking forward to watching this series after seeing the trailers. I thought this could be fun with all the twists and unexpected plots. But, at the end, it was painful to watch. Quite an insult to the viewers' intelligence. And it was really unnecessary long.

The only thriller it provides is trying to know what in the world the writers were trying to do with the plot and characters. It was confusing and incoherent. The characters are so gullible and annoying. Who would keep naked pictures of your mistress in the drawer of the bed? That's just one of the.worst plots I have ever seen.

There are so many holes in the storyline. How did the police find out it was not accident? How did they miss the rain jacket in the first place? The writers are just too lazy to come up with better plots.

And lastly, the acting was just bad. There is no chemistry between the actors. They are probably not bad actors, but they just had terrible acting jobs with this series.

John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023)

Unnecessarily long with silly action scenes

Not sure why they had to make the movie just under 3 hour long. The story line is just simple but they had to make the action scenes unnecessarily long. This could easily take just 2 hours max.

The first 2 movies are pretty good with some realistic plots and actions. This time it was just ridiculously unrealistic. The scene at Arc de Triomphe was just silly. So were the other action scenes. The fight coreography was not bad though.

I'm glad they finished off the franchise. Not sure how they would milk it any longer. I like the John Wick character but seems like the writers just run out of good ideas.

Season1 was pretty good, and then comes the Season 2

I quite enjoyed the Season 1 and I was excited when Season 2 finally aired but boy what a huge disappointment ...

Season 2 is just very silly and messy. I don't know what was in the writers mind. It was so slow and full of cheesy conversation and unrealistic plots. They were trying to exploit personal drama from each character but the acting are so bad that makes the whole season painful to watch.

The new characters introduced in Season 2 are pretty much useless and didn't offer any expansion of drama or plot. The introduction of new misteries are just the way to make sure they can get another season.

Oh well, another show with wasted potential ..

The Lost City (2022)

Flat, uninspiring chick flick

This is just a waste of talents. You have Pitt, Bullock, Radcliffe and yet the movie came out pretty dull and unfunny. Channing Tatum is not a good actor and that's why there was absolutely no chemistry between him and the other actors.

The idea of the movie should give them a good opportuntiy to provide exciting adventour movie like Indiana Jones or Romancing the Stone. Well, basically, this is similar to Romancing the Stone but Bullock-Tatum were in no way providing such a duet performance like Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner.

The movie itself is so flat. Half way of the movie, no real excitement, just dull unfunny dialogues and uninspiring comedy.

Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre (2023)

Shallow. Silly. Flat. And confusing

I'm confused about what category this move falls into. Is it a comedy? Parody? Or just a bad movie?

If they intended to make it a comedy movie, it falls badly. The comedy was flat. They were trying to make it witty with unfunny banters but it was just terrible. The action is just flat as well. Nothing new to offer. I'm not sure if this is because they didn't have enough budget or something.

The cast is not bad but the movie failed to use the talents properly. The silly dialogues just ruined the potential chemistry between the cast. I was quite surprised considering.

Based on the title, they probably are eyeing a sequel. That'd be terrible idea.

Peppermint (2018)

A really stupid movie

I don't know what the point of making this movie is. The storyline is predictable but doesn't make sense. Just typical an ordinary woman turned hero storyline with nothing new to offer. No thrill, no subtlety in the story progression.

Overall, this is just a waste of the main actor talent. The other actors are just subpar performers. The acting were just bad and it just made the movie even worse.

It's just funny that they set the ending in a way that there could be a possibility for a sequel. I hope the producers or the studio didn't read the reviews here and think that the positive reviews on imdb are reliable.

The Undoing (2020)

Too many plot holes and confusion

I didn't really enjoy the series. The actors were great especially Hugh Grant. Even the kid actors were excellent.

The premise of the series offers great opportunity to produce real drama especially given they had 6 episodes. But at the end they missed it. The failed to exploit the narrative that the wife failed to recognize what the husband really is or what he is capable of. What a shame, especially when they had great cast like that.

Too many plot holes and unanswered questions. I will not mention here as it could be a spoiler. They are just annoying and at the end it feels like they were just thrown in to confuse people and at the same time maintain the suspense.

No Escape (I) (2015)

Absolute garbage

I don't know what the point of making this movie is. It's just a waste of talent of the actors. Low budget should not make a movie looks cheap.

Anyway, the storyline is unrealistic and yet predictable. There are no moral stories being offered. The obsession of the bad guys on killing the family is just laughable. A typical cheap thriller movie. The suspense scenes becomes comedic most of the time. And the constant stupidity of the main character is just really annoying. All just to make the movie more suspenful.

I can understand why one of the country banned this movie. This is just savage portrayal of the people in the region.

House of the Dragon (2022– )

A high budget glorified soap opera

I lost my patience now after 5 episodes. I know this is not Game of Throne but does it have to be this bad? The pace is so slow that it feels that they just wanted to make sure there will be a second season. The first 5 episodes could have been packaged into 1 or 2 episodes.

The casts of GoT have increased the bar so high that I feel sorry for the actors in this show. But in all fairness, the acting is really subpar for the hype. There is no chemistry whatsoever.

I'm not sure where this is going. Maybe I'm not patient enough but the show has reached the mid season and I failed to see the direction of the storyline. For now, it feels like it's just a meaningless soap opera. I hope I'm wrong.

Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)

A whacky chaotic absurd and beautiful love story

I know that this movie will not be everyone's cup of tea. If you are not an Asian growing up in an Asian household or know the Asian culture really well, it might be difficult for you to understand the issues presented in the movie. The words from Evelyn to Joy about she's getting fat might be harsh but it happens a lot and it's actually coming out of love. I know that doesn't make it right but it's how it is in the culture.

The movie can be chaotic but that's what the point of the storyline is all about. The world is chaotic. Our life is chaotic. Even the ever expanding universe is chaotic. It can be exhausting to watch the movie with that crazy pace. But isn't life is just like that?

This movie is a love story. Between man and woman. Between parents and their kids. Between friends. Even between strangers. The messages might be cheesy but they are always true and they can always be applied to the life and relationship. It was wrapped in absurdity and outrageous scenes. And that is life. Even in the crazy world we are living now, the messages will always be true. That kindness, understanding will always the right way to deal with chaotic life. Some of the lines really hit home for me personally. That 'I would have really liked just doing laundry' or 'that's how I fight' are so poignant.

I really like Michelle Yeoh and Jamie Lee Curtis. I was excited to see them in one movie. And what a treat for me to watch them in this movie. The other actors are also amazing. Playing a character in a movie with this kind of storyline and mix of several different genres are surely not easy.

I do genuinely love this movie. It will be one of those movies that leave everlasting message to me personally. In a crazy world like this where we are bombarded with terrible movies, it's nice to still be able to find gems like this. I hope this is not the last.

The Big C (2010–2013)

Great way to view a tragedy in ife

Having had close family and friends struggling and losing life to cancer, I can relate to the main characters including the family members of Cathy Jamison.

Many reviewers mentioned about Cathy's selfishness and apparent self centered attitude. But they failed to put themselves in her position. She had to put up with her childish husband, her confused teenager son, an ever animated brother and her as****** father. It would be already a lot to take for someone even without having to deal with terminal illness. We all know that everyone will die no matter what. Our body is literally dying. It's a fact of life. But it's stil a tough issue to deal with let alone facing death due a cancer. I also like the character arc of her husband and her brother. Their journey from being manchilds to the responsible adults they are supposed to be. Sometimes it takes a tragedy in life to remind us what the most important things in life are.

The acting from the actors are superb even the guest stars such Susan Sarandon, Cynthia Nixon. Without them, the series would lose sparks and interest from viewers.

Moonfall (2022)

Tired old script, dull acting, cheesy action flick

This movie is really stupid and pointless.

Same old cheesy storyline. A typical hero coming from broken marriage with rebel kids having problems with the authorities. A conspiracy theorist coming from nowhere to save the world. Haven't we seen this kind of thing before?

Lazy writing relying on CGI, unfunny lines, dull acting. That's all you got. I hope they are not trying to make the sequel.

Gangs of London (2020– )

Dull acting and too many plot holes and not believable storyline

The show has promising storyline and first couple of episodes were great. Somehow, the writting has become lazy. There were no character development which made the storyline convincing. Too many sub-stories that are not developed well enough and they just made the main plot even confusing.

The acting from most of the actors did not help either. Sean has potential to be a cultish character but it's confusing to guess where the direction of the character that the writers wanted to take. So, this might not be the fault of the actors. That's more on the shallowness of the writting.

I'm not sure what to expect from Season 2 but I'm not really looking forward to it (and it turns out the Season 2 is even worse).

When will the movie industry realize that people don't want this type of politically correctness to be spoon fed non stop? I'm all for social justice but I don't it to be forced on me when all I wanted is just an entertainment.

Very well made and well acted

I have watched this movie millions of time but never got bored even though I know how it ends. This is due to the dark nature of the movie but at the same time I love the attention to details. And the performance from those 4 main actors (Freeman, Pitt, Paltrow and Spacey) were superb, especially Pitt. I almost didn't feel sorry for his misery at the end of the movie.

Seriously, what is the point of this movie? It's just sick and disgusting. This is just a movie for the twisted minds. And yes, there are some people who will enjoy it. Just look at the people who still gives this garbage some stars.

Humans are getting dumber and dumber each day. This movie is just one of the proof for that.

I don't understand why people need to keep slaughtering classic movies like Annie. The original one in 1980s is pure gem. This version is just a poor attempt and half-heartedly made. Everything is just not right. It just didn't work.

Rambo: Last Blood (2019)

I do like First Blood and Rambo. This - I don't even know what this is - just ruined it. Bad acting, ridiculous storyline and unrealistic plot (A mexican cartel took the war to the american soil just like that?).

The theme is just so not original. The overused theme from the movie Taken with overused 'Mexican cartel' flavour.

I don't know what the point of this really. Other than milking more money from the fans of Rambo.
