The Mandalorian: Chapter 19: The Convert (2023)
100% "AS IF." Spoilers yep, But read anyway, save 50 mins of your life.
Pointless, inane.
Let me walk you through it. And (again) reading, 5 minutes will save you 50 minutes you will never get back.
From the start, and how "Din and Bo" returning from Mandalore, are suddenly attacked, by a whole squadron of Tie Intercepts, and bombers, where did they come from? How did they find them? None of this explained.
As if.
And then specifically sending bombers, to level her palace. For no cogent reason, (other than to further the absurd plot) when there is only her living there.
Super coincidentally, forcing her have to run with him. Bringing on the "BIG, As If" as if at the end.
As if
Here we switch to the super boring 80% of the episode, of Dr Pershing. The Imperial guy who experimented on, and then tried so save baby Yoda in the first season.
(This is a small as if.) But-- He is Super intelligent, and yet doesn't guess, doesn't even have a suspicion, even with all the signs, that he's being set up. When every single viewer is saying "it's a set up."
As if.
Now a BIG, totally unexplained one.
Why wasn't the person he is with, when they are arrested.. Also arrested?
They are both in the amnesty program. Both caught where they are not permitted to be. Both running, from the scene of a crime. With the stolen items.
So, in the Star Wars universe, when there's a crime, they only arrest the one holding the "swag??!" really.
Why was that bloke let off scot-free??
As if.
And then that same person is allowed to go in and watch, when Pershing is being punished? And is even complimented on being a "good example in the program."
As if.
And then..
SUPER "AS IF!"
That same unpunished criminal, not a doctor, not even a member of the medical staff, and still in "the program," --is left totally alone.
While Dr Pershing is going through "the treatment," that has to be finely regulated, so as not to totally wipe his brain clean.
And the other "unpunished" criminal is watching from... An observation room.. nooo. A corridor.. nooo.
The co-criminal- (who is totally not blamed at all,) -is in THE control room, where there is a huge (almost cartoonish) turn dial, that can just be, well, "turned," to destroy "the patients" mind.
And get ready for it........
ALL the staff, just walk out.
And I do mean ALL the staff. Both in that "control room," and in the area where old Pershing, is being treated.
Dear reader.. "That really happens, In all medical procedures, operations, etc... When the hazardous, intricate, delicate part starts, and the patient is in desperate need of staff present, to make totally sure nothing goes wrong.. They always all walk out.".. sigh.
AS IF!!
And then the final insult.
Bo Katan, is constantly removing her helmet. Every time she flying her ship, walking, you name it. And ridiculing the 'cult' that keeps em on all the time.
But for reasons passing understanding, she doesn't, take hers off, for that One and Only hyperspace flight?
And then, she just happened to have "bathed in the waters.. bla bla." (which in itself was super convenient, why she even went into the pool.) So, waters + Helmet not taken off, she can now join their happy company.
AS IF..
And AS IF.. she would want too. A lifetime of calling them zealots. And, Just like that, she's now an "I won't take my helmet off again, Naaa, its ok, it's no biggie, In the last 30 seconds decided, I want to live in it."
AS.. freakin.. IF.
What an aberration of an episode.
Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
Why?
Seriously...
The number one question is why?
Why was this "movie" not only made, but even thought up?
It is "political pushing propaganda," disguised as a movie.
So many awesome MCU and DC movies, from Spider-man no way home, to Jack Schneider Justice League, Wonder Woman, . I even enjoyed the eternals. Because it didn't go OTT.
For example, Doctor Strange, was FANTASTIC, whereas Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, was.. (be nice) yep... not good.
Hollywood, Disney, they know what people want, and yet they
continue to push (let's keep it easy, so the review is accepted.) "politics."
Or rather "their politics" into fantasy movies..?
Why can't they just stay with what brings in the BIG BUCKS!
Look at the HUGE movies, that rake it all in.
Again. Why?
It is a mystery.
Batman and Superman: Battle of the Super Sons (2022)
Without doubt, the best DC animated movie in years.
There have been so may DC animated movies in recent years, that were either "meh" or just horrible, or shoehorned politics for the sake of it.
Leaving us yearning for the "good old days."
Then along came this.
The story, acting, humour, art, animation.
Utterly superb, in every way.
Simply LOVED the interplay, between the "super sons."
No gore, profanity, or "political nonsense."
Seriously if you have been waiting for a real "DC all round adults and kids movie." Since the likes of, War, DOOM, Apocalypse, Public Enemies, etc...
Give this a go, you won't be disappointed.
I really hope they make a second one.
Halo (2022)
How this show has a score of 7 is utterly beyond me.
Is this another case of deleting any 1 star reviews?
Because they mention topics / buzz words, even though 'said topics' are in the show itself.
Halo.=
-- The Chief NEVER takes his helmet off.
-- The chief, and all of the Spartans are "human" machines. In that, they live for the military code. Spec Ops, killers. Not "bleeding heart baby sitters."
-- The Mjölnir armour is like a walking tank, some "tag along kid" would be dead in seconds.
Decades we have been waiting for Halo live action, and we get this (I wont mention any "trigger words") so as my review gets deleted.
Lets leave it at. This 100% none canon trash.
If you like Halo the games, do yourself a favour and skip this.
No way its a score of 7. More like a 3.5 to 4 tops.
The Letter for the King (2020)
The last episode utterly ruins this show.
As my first realistic review was not allowed, Ill try again with a more "acceptable" approach.
The show was fun, and enjoyable. The main actor/character "Tiuri" is a really likeable kid. And there are some great characters. As well as sets, armour, effects.
But the last episode, had to have two of the main boys suddenly kissing.
For no reason, than shoving the old "PC agender" once more into a show.
As well a having a ridiculously weak, and hurried ending.
When will this shoehorned Wokeness in every show end.

All American (2018)
So erm.... questions.. questions questions?
1. Why would every single teenage in high-school, avoid an absolutely beautiful girl, that looks like a cover glamour model... (When she would in reality, be beating them off with a stick.) But in this, she has to sit / eat all alone. Because "she has a hiccup in life." Even her own brother parents dont try to intercede.. sigh.. What nonsense.
2. They live in a HUGE mansion in the heart of Beverly hills, that must have cost 10 million dollars. <- no joke. Its incredible.
He is a "high school coach."... lol.. Oh but... She- (his wife.) -who is "YET" another woman, that could win Miss World. No exaggeration. She (like everyone else) is "Utterly flawlessly amazing looking."
But, back to the their mansion, cars, riches etc, <-- These are all explained by, and I quote.. "Shes a lawyer." (Like all Lawers live in homes that Movie Stars live in.
BUT...
And heres the really absurd part... (as if it wasn't already.)
When does she work?? Answer.. she doesn't... She is at home, not working, always dressed, hair, clothes, makeup, like she's going into the aforementioned "beauty pageant." Morning, daytime, and night...? Erm..-- (shakes head) --to afford that place, and lifestyle, in that location... She (as a lawyer) would be working 120 hours a week... Even if she owned the firm.
3. Everyone in the show White and Black are all gorgeous, I mean like men's health men. And beauty queen gorges women, tall, slim, toned, (no boobs mind you, which is ridiculous considering its plastic L.A high society.) But everything else, rippling muscles, and every other type of cosmetic surgery.
Where are all the fat people in LA, even in the street, or on the beaches.. everywhere?
4. The acting is good, and I have always liked Taye Diggs.
But as for the super ticks every box of wokeness, unreality of it... sigh.. another CW ("rubbish writing".. but the word that starts with C, for rubbish) Fiasco.
Wonder Woman: Bloodlines (2019)
I honestly could not believe this "movie."
We are all... (Okay 99.9% of the human population.) Sick to the back teeth, of this "woke, sjw, pc" nonsense. That Hollywood, the media, are hosing us with every day, in every movie, and every TV show.
We are not against women, we love women. But this asinine new "women are everything in every show/movie. While men are stupid, evil or none entities, is even annoying real women.
But..... this "movie" took it to a whole new level.
There is.. And I am not exaggerating 1 - "ONE" male character in the WHOLE MOVIE!
Apart from a 15 second scene of some "bad MEN," attacking.. you guessed it, a "woman." And when WW takes them down, she says (verbatim) "I'm sorry- (to the woman being attracted.) -these MEN.... (Not villains, or thugs, or bad guys,) No no... "MEN hampered your day."
Apart form that one single scene. Everyone else is a woman.
Obviously there is WW. But then there's the "obligatory lesbian" friend of Steve Trevor. (the only man in the movie.)
Who,- (his female friend) -at one point actually says... "No woman's land." Not "no man's land."
Then theres the professor (a main character.) is female. Her child(another main character) is female.
There are (up until I turned it off at about 50 minutes.) FOUR super villains, and EVERY SINGLE ONE is female.
WW didn't have to leave themyscira to be in a "world of solely women." In this inane movie the whole world is just women.
Just look at the cast on IMDB. Oh and "lead bandit" had 1 3 second line.
And "Ferdinand, has one 5 second line, he repeats (no spoilers) 3 times, and he is in the movies for about 10 seconds total.)
When... when will this woke madness in movies, and TV shows that we... (normal 99.9% of people male, and female ...want to enjoy)... When will it end?
Tomorrowland (2015)
For a kids movie. LOADS of blasphemy, and language.
So whoever the potty mouth who wrote this was, they could not resist including language.- (Especially the blasphemy for us) -that offends.
Not everyone. But still millions of adults who are either religious. Or just decent when it comes to language.
As well as all the parents who do not want their children growing up using these expletive.
Have a look at "Parents guide first. See what I mean. Someone has listed the amount of needless, profanities.
And by needless, people who dont mind would not miss it in the slightest.
People who do, turn it off. Or just dont watch.
Shame it could have been an enjoyable movie.
FBI (2018)
Well folks now we all know that the FBI is actually just 4 people.
1.Big Jubal AKA captain shouter. 2. A pretty black girl who makes NASA scientists look like imbeciles. (and I kid you not, this woman finds missing people, & solves IT crimes, in LITERALLY 5 minutes. Shouting Jubal gives her 5 minutes and before then shes done it.) 3. Then theres OA, whose a cool guy, doesn't do everything.. <--Well hes a man after all. And like shouting Jubal they have now super-powers.
4.... And then there is the utterly ridiculous pretty white woman. Who ... and again Im not kidding does EVERYTHING!! Her crime solving prowess make Sherlock homes look like an idiot. She heads up breaching teams, <-(While they all wear full body armour, she wears a bikini-kevlar vest.) She is the chief hostage negotiator in the whole on NYC. She is a world expert in every crime known to man. Kidnapping, homicide, GTA, Blue collar, and white collar crime. undercover...cattle rustling.. you name it. Oh and if anyone is needed to impersonate to infiltrate, yep shes the one.
They have hundreds of "extras" milling about in the "FBI office." BUT...What the hell these people are doing is anyone's guess.
This show could be good. As the actors, ( And that includes the two "normal" men, and two, as usual in this age, = super powered women.) Or at least the actors and actresses who play the parts. The sets. The costumes, etc, are all great.
However.. the writing utterly sucks.
The Mandalorian (2019)
So far disgusted. Blasphemy in Star Wars? And unnecessary gross cruelty.
There are no spoilers in the following text. I was really looking forward to this.
It starts very promising. The sets, costumes, the whole vibe of the opening is very "vintage Star Wars."
Remembering that Originally "Star Wars" is (was) a "space opera" Google the definition. <-- So not a political statement, nor a an exercise in all things PC, as was the absurd "The Last Jedi."
So the Mandalorian starts great. But after about 5 minutes one of the characters blasphemes, not once but multiple times in a row..
BLASPHEMY ...in Star Wars.... Really? .... Seriously? Just why?
I gritted my teeth and continued watching, hoping it would be a one off occurrence, as the character was not main.
Then after another 10 minutes.
(no spoilers)
There is a vile, cruel, completely out of place, and unnecessary shot. (for a "Star Wars" title.)
You see a close up of a Kowakian monkey-lizard. (The little creature that as in Jabba Palace.) Who in Star Wars canon, are not only sentient, but intelligent beings. On a spit being roasted over a fire.
Kathleen Kennedy, and her Rian Johnson, who made The aberation that is "the Last Jedi." Included a similar vile, and almost as disgusting thing as this in TLJ, with the sweet little porgs. (Who also have an intelligence.)
And you would have thought that was vile enough. But even they tried to lessen that horrible scene as having the other Porgs cry for their friend, and Chewie, look contrite, and sorry.
(But then TLJ was trash from start to finish.) You would think they would learn. rank cruelty has no place in SW.
But what makes the shot, in the Mandalorian, even worse. Both disturbing, and quite nauseating, is that about 3 feet away, (and the shot lingers on this.) There is another Kowakian monkey-lizard, in a tiny cage. Staring in fear and dread, at his friend / prior cage mate being cooked, and turned over the fire.
Knowing he/shes next, grasping the bars, while mewling pitifully.
Remembering that we the audience know these creatures are fully cognizant.
Its just horrible.
Yes this is "fantasy," but its just the same as if it was a Jawa, an Ewok etc.
We are watching a SCIFi show, immersing ourselves, and believing that all of these people, and creatures exist.
There was no need for this "horror-esque" repugnant scene to have been in this type of program.
Even more so, there is utterly NO NEED at all, and against canon for blasphemy to be in Star Wars.
Honestly, does every single program from Hollywood now have to have blasphemy, or horror, or gore, or be "woke" politically themed.
The Personal History of David Copperfield (2019)
Why?
Love Dickens.
Love Dev Patel.
Like most of the actors, and actresses in the movie.
This.... However was an...
Utter waist of source material. / Miss casting. / (Comedy... really?)
And talent / money, that should have been poured into a project. That would have reaped the rewards, and accolades, it could have earned..
Colditz (2005)
What the Hell!!!
There is no way to spoil this show with spoilers.
Because just reading the "3 line synopsis" on IMDB tells you what happens in the end. One person is killed, Two are recaptured And one escapes. It then tells you the bloke name who escaped.
Why the hell would anyone....ANYONE want to watch an "escape movie, series, mini-series" where you have been told what the end is? Way to ruin a show!
Six (2017)
Ridiculous, and unnecessary amount of Blasphemous expletives.
I realise this wont bother the vast majority of people.
But for those who it does offend, BE WARNED!
After watching and loving both seasons of "SEAL TEAM" I really wanted to enjoy Six.
But within the first 14 minutes of the pilot, there is more blasphemous language. (mostly from the main character "Rip.")
Than almost a whole season of the "just as gritty" SEAL TEAM.
Proving there is absolutely no need for this gratuitous offensive language. Those who dont mind = dont miss it. And those who do = can watch and enjoy.
Real shame, the writer was so determined to be potty mouthed, as a cheap excuse to try to make his character look rough.
At the expense of clever writing, and 100% watcher appeal..
The Code (2019)
NO SPOILERS.. But the end of Ep 3... What nonsense.
I am not nor have I ever been in the military. So things that others picked up on specifically relating to the "reality" of representing the corps, I didn't notice.
HOWEVER... I do have a brain, and know you dont flush your whole life away..
Episode 1, was great, episode 2 was good, episode was utterly ridiculous.
AGAIN NO SPOILERS...
But the conclusion of the main story.- (not the Capt Abraham's plot.) -Is the most asinine, unrealistic garbage I can rem watching for years.
And the conversation between the two high ranking military females, and the decision of the one, is so stupid, its an insult to anyone, be they military or civilians intelligence.
I simply could not watch a fourth episode.
What a shame, even with 50% of the marine corps (in this show) being female. (Nothing against females at all.) But for realities sake it was just silly, but even this didn't matter, as it was going quite well until this nonsense.
Lets just leave it this way...
"As if she would do that!"
Alita: Battle Angel (2019)
I REALLY hope they make a sequel. A total blast! Loved it.
Absolutely FANTASTIC movie.
Alita is everything you would want her to be, beautiful, sweet, sassy, deadly, but also extremely liable.
All of the cast were perfect. The effects, are simply amazing.
As are the sets, costumes, design of everything. And a superb story.
A real.. REAL SCI-FI extravaganza.
Alita has everything that makes a brilliant movie. Drama, a little light humour, sorrow, twist and turns, and a TON of action.
Aquaman (2018)
Blew me out of the water!! (No spoilers.)
I was not expecting this movie to be a patch on the what it delivered.
It literally has everything. And is VERY close to the comic book, and animated canon. (apart from Aquaman's hair.) Which like Sam Jackson Nick Fury, and Supes not have red underpants on his costume, is actually much better than the source material.
Apart from that pretty much everything is on there, from Mera being able to control water, to-- to-- to-- So many things fans will so.. "Oh thats awesome!" ... (I dont want to give stuff away.)
Its ridiculously action packed, with insane CGI effects, funny, tender, and just goes from strength to strength.
IMO its one of THE BEST super hero movies by any studio so far.
I'm not even a big fan of Kidman or Heard, and even I have to admit they were both superb in their roles.
There are also hardly any expletives, either religious, or cussing. And its not gory, even though it has many... many fight scenes.
Superbly directed, with incredible set pieces, costumes score, etc.
Utterly brilliant.
Highly recommended to young and old.
Decline and Fall (2017)
Weird, with a VERY disapointing ending. (apart from that observation, no spoilers)
The good...
The acting, and casting was very good, and the sets costumes etc, all top notch.
The Bad...
But it is one of those stories that leaves threads unfulfilled.
And characters that you want to see what happened to them extremely irritatingly untold, and incomplete.
Also some "happenings" are frankly just stupid. And distasteful, just for the sake of it.
And as aforementioned, a VERY weird, and disappointing. (in every sense) ending.
