Intruder (1989)
Complete trash
Incompetent writing and storytelling. A couple of gore effects were fine, but the movie was utter nonsense. The ending dragged appallingly at the end clearly due to having too little film and needing to reach as close to 1 hour 30 minutes as possible.
Most of the acting is terrible, the characters are unlikeable, and totally not relatable. I guessed the ending within the first couple murders. But the very end is eye rollingly painful to watch.
A complete waste of time to watch. I wouldn't normally suggest a movie be completely avoided but this pile of garbage should just be deleted and the director should be jailed.
Obi-Wan Kenobi: Part IV (2022)
To help all the reviewers stuck on "why did she interrogate Leia?"
Look - I am not a huge fan of this show. It is not the best but it is entertaining enough.
But to respond to the many dumbfounded people asking,
"Why does Reva bother to interrogate Leia at all if her plan was to track Kenobi when he rescues her? Just lock her up and wait for him."
It is simple: She needs Kenobi and his accomplices to believe she needed Leia to find out where their base is. If Leia relays the story that she was tortured, interrogated etc then they will believe she has no other plan and knows nothing (presumably). I am not saying this is the best writing ever or execution in the production but it does make sense. The lack of forsight from the people on this site is astounding. When judging writing and creating stories, you need to be able to think ahead and problem solve.
I just imagine these dumdums watching something like Fight Club and shutting it off as soon as they realize he is Tyler Durden because it "just doesnt make sense! I saw him fighting him and im not a dumdum!" then continues to watch star wars cartoons believing they have more than half of a brain.
There is a constant complaint this is a show for children: Star Wars is primarily for children. I am sorry that you are naive enough to believe that the silly space wizard adventures are completely serious stories. And there is nothing distinctly more childish in this show than in the movies. Also most of you weirdos watched multiple Star Wars cartoons which are the epitome of childish not just because of the animation, but clearly very clearly for children. Yes it can have good writing and be for children, but the "childish" aspect is still there.
If you are going to judge a show so harshly at least have a good point. Some points are valid. I feel Reva is boring, not particularly well acted, lacks motivation (although the forsight thing is key here as there may be a devlopment as to why she is so hell bent to catch Obi-Wan in the next 2 episodes)... It also is weird to me that no one seems to search anyone in custody as Leia had a giant droid in her pocket (but again Reva knew she has the droid on her and planned to use it to allow her to track them so it ended up explaining itself).
But the complaints about her not being "scary"... I agree she is not scary. But neither is Darth Vader. No one in Star Wars is scary. If you are scared of characters in Star Wars you need to focus on potty training for the time being. Adults are totally allowed to enjoy media intended for youth... that is what Star Wars is. Fight coreography has been terrible (with exceptions) since A New Hope... I too caught the helmet slap in this episode and rolled my eyes, but not nearly as much as I rolled my eyes at that awful light saber fight in A New Hope. There is a suspension of disbelief that is required when watching Fantasy shows... you need to get onboard.
The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
At least there are strawberries?
CONTAINS SPOILERS
****************************
Trinity and Neo are arbitrarily resurrected in order to somehow control the matrix while being denied happiness by Doogie Howser who is now in charge I guess.
But that is not saying much. It is so convoluted, slow, tedious, and honestly stupid that you will be begging for it to end.
For a bit of meta/4th wall destruction - Neo is a game designer who designed a game called Binary (a trilogy of games!) where his past (from the first trilogy of movies) is still in his dreams and foggy memories and put into the game as storyline. The characters in the story are constantly questioning why sequels and trilogies are made and are unecessary, and I could not agree more by the end of this movie.
During this romp the annoying French guy from the 2nd and 3rd films pulls a Statler and Waldorf, heckling Neo from above and doing absolutely nothing else and without consequence. This is going on while Neo and gang fight some other people that don't matter - but this is where Neo is confronted with Agent Smith again who wants to stop Neo so he can get what he wants... somehow.
Morpheus has many uneventful and needless scenes, and the origin of his younger avatar is such a convoluted and ridiculous mess that you will hate them for not inviting Fishburne back as an aged half bionic man in Zion.
But Zion died because they don't like machines even though they used advanced machines the entire time in the first trilogy. AI machines are now being used as scientists and whatnot in Io which replaced good ol Zion.
One could say they just don't like AI - but it seems in Io all this got them was strawberries and (presumably) blueberries that the synthentient scientists helped them create (Synthient? Sorry - I stabbed my frontal lobe with an Apple TV remote to forget much of this movie afterward so please forgive me). But Zion is stupid for wasting the potential future of candied fruits and berries for the very "irrational" fear that sentient machines would be a bad thing in the universe of this film.
Wrapping up as to not spoil everything - This film puts the audience into a position to feel the entire first trilogy did not change anything save for Io which now has strawberries and sentient synthetic lab workers - FOR THE WIN! The sacrifice that Neo and Trinity made was basically for nothing and the whole war with the machines solved nothing, unless it is positing that the initial prophecy and story was only the beginning and now the real ending to the pophecy is to come in this next trilogy. At least until the next trilogy that is.
Star Trek: Lower Decks: Envoys (2020)
Not very funny but I am still giving it a chance
The cast is amazing. You cannot get a better cast for a modern comedy. So I am giving it more leeway because of this.
Something a lot of Star Trek fans don't get for whatever reason is: CBS is trying to branch out Star Trek. The brand would be dead in the water if they don't try to spread out its relevance. This show is trying to attract a newer more youthful audience by hiring the Rick and Morty guy. I grew up in the TNG period so yes to me that show is "real trek". I hated DS9 and still do to this day as did many trek fans when it came out. It still is the furthest from Roddenberry's vision in my opinion. The stories were sh** and the performances by 90% of the cast were so cheesy and ludicrous it is insane to me anyone watched that pile of feces. But i get it appeals to a segment (a large segment) of trek fans today. And that is fine because it brings them joy.
Worst case scenario is Lower Decks brings in a younger audience to help prolong the memory and history of star trek. It does not change your beloved show of choice. It is simply bringing more people into the circle.
Pike's show is coming out at some point which will be much more like TOS. Discovery was hated by half of the fans although it absolutely did have very trek like stories in the episodes. The movies actually have way more star trek elements than they are given credit for. Look at them objectively and not through your sad and pathetic fanboy eyes.
Let others have a taste of star trek through their preferred method of entertainment. If you don't like this show then do not watch it because a lot of young people actually do like it as well as some older. I personally do not find Rick and Morty interesting nor has any clip I've seen made me laugh but I understand a lot of people enjoy it. Who cares? How does that change your favorite star trek series or film in any way?
I do agree Tawny Newsome's character is overbearing and slightly annoying while being too much of a bully. It has to dial her back quickly but it is obviously a part of her arc to be more caring and less nihilistic eventually. And Tawny is an amazing comedic actress who is actually a huge trek fan. Don't watch it if you don't want to... i have reasons to stop now too but i trust it will grow on me. But I kinda do wish if they did a cool animated series that it did actually involve the bridge crew rather than lower deck types... maybe someday? Or a remake of the animated original series would be really cool.
I Am Here.... Now (2009)
An objectively terrible film.
This man should be arrested. Apparently it is too short to submit. So he should be arrested and sentenced to at least 10 years in prison.
