John Henry (2020)
Watch anything else
I thought that maybe I was missing a link in the story about crews' characters name being a big deal seeing as it's said with conviction alot, but it's just from an old folk song. It's not a good film. Trying way too hard to emulate Tarantino. Acting is awful. Predictable story. It felt like the start of the film was lining Crews up to be a badass but he doesn't really do much outside of some awkward shuffle dance while buying tampons. Do not come into this expecting a brilliant action film with Terry Crews using his strength and muscles for a super awesome John Wick revenge style reason. Just don't watch it at all to be honest.
All Hallows' Eve (2013)
Brilliant. It's what horror films are missing.
Gruesome, Gorey and with actual monster/Demons. This is what modern horror should be like, not all just suspense with things that you can't see or possessions. The storyline is great and simple with real effort being in the mini films which are mini films from the directors past. Art the Clown should become a modern horror icon as he is completely unhinged and evil. Absolutely loved this and anything to do with Art.
Bonehill Road (2017)
So bad it's good
In this day and age werewolf films are rare. This one though, although laughably bad was worth watching. If you look past the complete continuity errors of everyone's bruises and cuts, the rubber and plastic of the werewolves, the attack with the frying pan and the insanity of the actor who plays Coen then you will find a gem of bad acting worth watching. My favourite part is at the end, the flashback scene only 5 minutes after the mom dies and the fact there are no childhood memories. Oh and the fact that the survivors are just kinda fine with the sacrifice of their daughter/mother. Watch it with mild expectations and you'll have a laugh.
The Grinn (2017)
Don't waste your electricity watching this
The concept was okay. Done with better backing it could have been great. The actor playing Vance hopefully doesn't act as a full time job and has a career to fall back on. The actress playing Vera seemed very stale and unimpressive. Diana was acted possibly the best here but that doesn't mean good. The set up for the ending just seemed to drag on and this film could have been half an hour shorter and marketed as a student indy film and would have been better. The best acting comes from the baby who had no real acting skill, so it was an even playing field.
Truth or Dare (2018)
Only reason to watch is if you were dared to.
The plot had promise but that's about where the good stuff ends. The characters are unlikeable and unrelatable. The goofy face of the Truth or Daremon (amalgam of dare and demon, not in the film but my own witty cynicism) is dumb and how people surrounding the players who refused don't see it is dumb. Typical college kids who look like they're in their 30's go to Mexico and get tricked into this deadly game by a stranger at a bar. The end result of the film just shows how self centered the characters are and lazily copy the superior ending of The Ring.
