Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)
Exactly nothing special about this one, actually the opposite!
I've seen the rating of this movie and I've thought that this must be another one of those chinese movies which are really good, but it seems I've been wrong. The main idea of the movie it's very interesting, although the idea of a multiverse it's getting more common and common nowadays. The problem with this movie stays in the fact that it's mainly a comedy, but it's not really my type of humour. The quality of the comedy is very low and it's too damn exagerrated, like what is supposed to be so funny about a girl using two d****s as weapons? It's rather depressing because nowadays almost anything has to be sexualised.
Assassin's Creed: Valhalla (2020)
Not as great as Origins, but definitely much better than Odyssey!
Assassin's Creed Valhalla it's the most complex Assassin's Creed game and probably the most complex game I've ever played. Excepting the fact that it can't really still be called an Assassin's Creed game, it's surely a good standalone RPG game nonetheless. I've felt that it is much more Assassin's Creed oriented than Odyssey and here I am talking about it's more advanced parkour system, it's stealth system, which is very good and it's clear connection to Assassin's Creed Origins' Bayek and to some old assassins who used to roam the green pastures of England, in the past, during the presence of the Roman Empire. I've also liked how the concept of Assassin's Creed game has been introduced in this one and I am talking about Bayek and Hytham and their main mission to purge off England of the infectious grip of the Order of the Ancients, which is probably going to evolve in what we know nowadays as the templars.
Apart from this Assassin's Creed's stuff, the game it has a really good, stable and long story. During the entire game, you must focus both on the creation of strong alliances throughout England and the construction and development of your own settlement. There a lot of things, mysteries and challenges to do in this game and if you are not a fan of RPG games, then you might not have the required patience to stay with it until the final end. The whole map of England is huge, but there are also another several new maps which are included in the game, like Vinland and those from the asgardian arc. The gameplay, the brutality of the fights, the soundtrack and the level of customizability of the character and the items that you have, are also one the qualities of this game.
With all of these said, Assassin's Creed Valhalla it's a great RPG game with various Assassin's Creed elements in it. The story is very long, but interesting and it has a lot of stuff to do in it. I don't really know If it's longer than its predecessors, but it's long enough to keep you hooked for a really long time. The game it's worth it.
Spider-Man (2002)
Truly emotional and original!
Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy it's going to be my favourite one. It has a sad and emotional storyline, great special effects for their time, great acting and nice action. This trilogy it's also a little bit darker and more realistic than the actual Spider-Man trilogy, starring Tom Holland as Peter Parker. It's maybe the third or fourth time that I am watching this one and I have to say that it has such an enormous sentimental value, because it's one of the trilogies that I have grew up with.
WandaVision (2021)
It should have been a little bit more action!
"WandaVision" begins very slow... You don't really know what is happening in the show and you doesn't even know when the action is taking place, because the only clue that you have is the fact that you know that this TV series is happening sometime after the "Avengers: Endgame". Anyway, as soon as the episodes unfold, you find out the truth and everything starts to makes sense.
This show it's not bad, but it's not great either! It has some very funny and emotional moments, but I guess that it lacks its action and more precisely, you don't get to see any action until the last episodes. Even the main antagonist it's not really too threatening, because somehow, the show creates the idea of predictability and you know that however strong the villain is, in the end the protagonist would always win.
"WandaVision" it's not bad and it should not ruin your time, especially because I guess that it's very important for the future MCU's projects. I suggest you to watch the prior MCU's movies before watching this, all of them, if you have the time and the mood, but if you lack the patience, I guess that the movies "Captain America: The First Avenger", "Captain America: The Winter Soldier", "Avengers: Age of Ultron", "Captain America: Civil War", "Avengers: Inifnity War" and "Avengers: Endgame", should be enough, in order to understand what is happening during this show! Don't forget about the after-credits scenes.
Avengers: Endgame (2019)
Too many plot holes, but good enough nonetheless!
As much as I would like to rate this higher, simply I can't. "Avengers: Endgame" could have been a perfect MCU movie, but it has too way many plot holes and unanswered questions. I understand that it's possible that some of the questions will be answered in the TV series, but even so, there are a lot of storywise irregularities! I think that the whole plot has been presented too fast-paced, but the plot's main subject is really both interesting and solid. The biggest plot hole is about Captain America's return in the past, because the movie doesn't show what has really happened while he was in the past, using the quantum realm technology. How did he return the stones? Where did he return them? What enemies and obstacles encountered and most important of all, why is he old? It's even the same Captain America, from the actual timeline, or it's another one, from a parallel universe? I guess we will never find out, because the movie should have been even longer, with at least an additional hour, in order to make us understand, what has really happened and how.
Apart from the whole pile of plot holes and undesired mysteries, the movie is good enough and it has some very great visual and special effects, combined with a lot of suspenseful and emotional scenes. I don't think that it's better than "Avengers: Infinity War", because the former has a not so solid plot, but it didn't make me to wonder how certain characters acted in a specific way and why certain events occurred at a one specific time.
"Avengers: Endgame" it's worth watching and it's definitely a lot better than some of the other movies in the entire MCU, but it's definitely not the best movie either. I would suggest you to chronologically watch the entire MCU movie franchise, before watching this one and to search on the internet for the answers to your questions, because you won't find any in here.
Thor: Ragnarok (2017)
Very funny and entertaining!
I don't think that "Thor: Ragnarok" it's the best movie in the whole MCU Thor's franchise, but it's definitely the funniest. It's probably even funnier than the both parts of "The Guardians of the Galaxy". Usually I don't like the idea to insert to many funny scenes and jokes in a movie that it's supposed to be serious, but "Thor: Ragnarok" took care of this aspect in a very good and decent manner. The humor is not over-exageratted and a lot of jokes are on point.
As for the other aspects of the movie, like the storyline, the action and the soundtrack, I could only say that even those are not bad either. The movie has some good and memorable action and suspenseful scenes, which are combined with some very good choices of soundtrack, as you can see in the beginning of the movie, when Thor's fighting Surtur and later in the movie, during the first appearance of Hella, when Thor's Hammer, Mjollnir, is destroyed by her.
If you want to have a very funny, full of color and lighter experience ("Thor: The Dark World" and even the first movie, are darker than this one), which is combined with great action scenes, a decent storyline and badass soundtrack, then "Thor: Ragnarok" it's definitely for you.
Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)
I think that it's better than the first movie!
Even If it has a slow beginning and I've thought myself that I am not going to like it, personally it seems that this movie it's even better than its predecessor. Both "Avengers" are very good movies, not excellent, but both have plenty of action, great acting and nice special effects, only exception being the fact that this one felt a little bit more emotional than the first one. Also, the villain of this one seems to be much more interesting than the villain in the first movie, which is Thor's brother, Loki and his army of Chitauri. Ultron seems to be more threatening, because it's an artificial intelligence digital being, which has the constant ability to evolve and adapt. Even I've rated them both with 8, this movie deserves a rating of 8,5. Both are worth watching!
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017)
Not at all disappointing!
"Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume II" it's a very entertaining movie to watch. It seems to be a little bit better than the first "Guardians of the Galaxy", because this one has some specific elements that aren't in the first one. Both parts have a good storyline, great special effects and a nice soundtrack, but the bad guy in the first one is very pathetic... Ronan looked like a really badass antagonist and I've expected him to be really strong, especially because he had the control of an Infinity Stone, but there was no fight with him at the end of the movie and this is why I've rated higher the second part. Apart from this aspect, the both parts are good movies that are worth watching, without any doubts.
Thor: The Dark World (2013)
Definitely one of the best MCU movies ever produced!
This is the second time that I've watched "Thor: The Dark World" and I am very confident when I say that this movie is definitely one of the best MCU solos that have been ever made. I've heard that there are a lot of people who didn't like this movie, or who believe that the other parts of "Thor" are better, but I think that this one is the best.
Aside from the fact that this one is overall darker, "Thor: The Dark World" has a very good acting, great special effects and CGI and an unexpected great soundtrack. Ok, maybe the storyline it's not as solid as with other MCU movies, but for me Malekith it seems like a really scary and threatening villain and somehow it reminds me of the dark elves of "The Elder Scrolls Online", which made the movie to seem even more interesting, because of this tiny resemblance.
"Thor: The Dark World" it's a successful MCU movie. It definitely won't ruin your time, or your mood.
Dexter: New Blood (2021)
It's almost as good as the original "Dexter"!
At the moment that I've learnt that it's going to be released a new "Dexter" TV show, I've been feeling excited and worried at the same time, in equal measure. A few years ago I've watched the original "Dexter" and I can say that was one of the best TV series I've ever saw and because of this I was excited about the reboot. On the other hand, I've been a little bit worried because I know there are a lot of reboots, which proves the fact that most of the time, a reboot it's not really a good decision. In my mind, "Dexter: New Blood" could have really been a bad TV series, especially because the original TV series is a masterpiece.
When I've started watching the show, I've been pleasantly suprised about the fact that it's the same kind of show that I've been aware of, but this time, a little bit colder and maybe, a little bit darker that the original TV series. It seems to me that the producers has kept the original vibe, because otherwise I would have really missed all the suspense, the constant Dexter's monologue and even the original themesong. I think it's fair to say that a reboot should keep the original key aspects of the rebooted show and I consider that "Dexter: New Blood" really kept those little, but important aspects, in check. This is a good thing and this is why this show deserves a high rating.
Anyway, this show is not as good as the original. Yes, it has the same charm, it's even better sometimes, but I would have prefered another ending, one in which Dexter doesn't really have to die. It's a little bit upsetting that they've decided to bring back the legendary serial killer named Dexter and that it shows you only a glimpse of what the original Dexter has been, but it takes this from you, because you really see him die and you know that it can't never exist another one. Anyway, there are other aspects that didn't make any sense, like the fact that Harrison never really understood his father and decided to kill him instead. Throughout the whole season the show makes you to believe that Harrison it's going to be the next Dexter, but in the final episode it seems that he didn't really understand the fact that what Dexter has been doing is not necessary a bad thing.
In conclusion, "Dexter: New Blood" it's a very good TV show, it's worth watching and most importantly, it has the same core elements that has made the original "Dexter" such a masterpiece. The ending is a little bit disappointing, but I think that is a matter of perspective. Even that Dexter died, it could not necessary mean that it's the end of this franchise and the end of the "Dark Passenger". I hope that we will see more of it and maybe through the perspective of Harrison, which has been born in blood, just like his father Dexter.
Enola Holmes (2020)
Boring or entertaining...?
"Enola Holmes" it's an entertaining movie to watch, but it's a little bit boring during some moments. Anyway, the movie gives you a positive vibe and the actors, the acting, the visual effects and the soundtrack are those elements that made me give it a rating of 8. On the other hand, the storyline it's not so interesting, or it's not depicted as it should be.
The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
A Matrix movie, that is not about The Matrix...
"The Matrix Resurrections" it's a Matrix movie and it's not about The Matrix, as the title suggests. The entire movie is about the lost love between Neo and Trinity, which is now called "Tiffany". I guess what this movie lacks the most is the focus on the main idea that guaranteed the success of the first trilogy in the first place and that is "The Matrix". The movie feels strange... Of course, it's about a virtual simulation that is called "The Matrix", but it doesn't create the same aura of mistery that has been created in the first trilogy.
I don't know... Probably the main idea of this movie is a good one, especially because has been made by one of the original producers of "The Matrix", but it is how you put it into perspective that matters most and the movie failed to do this. I didn't understand too much from it, because I think that there is nothing to understand. There are a lot of senseless things that happen and you don't even get an explanation for them, or you don't even know why something is happening, when is happening.
The level of acting is high enough, the special effects are also good, but even the first trilogy had some badass special effects for their time and what matters most is the way how the storyline is told and this is what this movie lacks. It has a foggy beginning, because you don't exactly understand how the events that occured at the ending of the original trilogy, are connected with those that takes place now and besides of this, the movie isn't entertaining enough... I think that it deserves a rating of 5.
The Boys (2019)
It's exactly the opposite of your usual superhero show!
I've had big expectations about this show, because I thought that is going to be exactly that kind of show, in which the good guys (the superheroes) fight the bad guys (the villains) and of course, they win. I couldn't have been more wrong, especially because "The Boys" it's not about a desperate attempt of superheroes to save the world from evil, instead this show takes a much more realistic approach, about what is going to happen if superheroes had really existed.
I'm saying that I had big expectations in the beginning, because I thought that it would be the same usual show with superheroes and villain, that is most likely to find everywhere. In the first couple of episodes I've been a little bit disappointed, or rather shocked, because like I've already said, "The Boys" describes what the MCU never did. Of course, the movies and shows from Marvel are destined to other public's category, but this show is tough. It has all you could not expect from a TV series with superheroes. It has violence, gore, nudity, astonishing CGI effects and a very unpredictable and solid storyline. In the end it seems that this one delivered what I didn't expect it to and I am pleased with that. The show is definitely worth watching.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021)
A very well-made Marvel movie that deserves a lot of praise!
"Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings" is one of the best productions of Marvel Studios. I had very big expectations for this movie and it didn't disappoint, mostly because it's based on asian people and martial arts and I am a very big fan of this genre. Only the idea to make a Marvel's movie which is based on martial arts is very interesting, even If there are already some comics on which this movie is based on.
The movie has all you could expect from a movie made of Marvel, but the special effects and the CGI are the strongest points of this one. I even regret it that I didn't watch it in a cinema, because it's clear that the movie has been made to put into the light the enormous ammount of special effects, on a big screen. I've also been impressed by the acting and even the storyline it's not bad. It's clear enough that is has been put a lot of effort in the well-making of this movie and it seems to me that they really achieved what they've wanted to.
"Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings" it's a movie that shines through it's CGI, acting and storytelling.
Into the Badlands (2015)
I didn't expect it to be so great!
At first I was a little bit reluctant, I must say, but it seems I couldn't have been more wrong. "Into the Badlands" is one of the best TV series I've ever watched, especially because it's based on martial arts. I don't consider it a great show, just because I had low expectations in the beginning, but rather because it has all you could expect from a TV show. Of course, every one is different, but I've always been fascinated by the movies or shows that includes martial arts and this one surely didn't disappoint.
The first season doesn't say too much and it seems to be the most dull of all three, maybe because there are a lot of questions marks, but the following ones, as the story unfolds, are getting more and more interesting. One thing that is very special about this show is that you can't really make the difference between the good and the evil, as the line between those two notions is very thin. There are some characters that makes you believe that they are the bad guys in the first two seasons, but you actually find out in the third season that they are not. Another interesting thing in regards to this show is the fact that it makes you believe that every character is the main character of the story, which is very good, because you get to develop strong feelings for every one of them.
Despite the fact that is has been cancelled and the main story can't be really considered concluded, "Into the Badlands" is a show worth watching if you are passionate about martial arts, great special effects, gore, interesting and mysterious storyline, good soundtrack, incredibly good acting and graphics.
Snakehead (2021)
It could have been so much better!
The movie disappointed me a little bit. I expected it to be a lot better, because it really has a good and solid plot. For me the movie seems fast-paced and not at all polished. It seems that the director and the production team didn't have the patience, the budget, or both, to make something really good and interesting.
I expected it to have a lot more action and be less predictable. The main plot is interesting, but it also depends how do you make use of it, how you put into the light the events that are linked to that plot and "Snakehead" didn't really manage that. Even If the plot is interesting, the movie is nothing but basic, fast-paced and predictable. It had potential.
Mayor Grom. Chumnoy Doktor (2021)
Unexpectedly good!
I've watched a lot of superhero movies until now, but this one is superior to a lot... It's not your typical superhero movie, where the protagonist wears a cape, flies and has supernatural powers, rather it's more reality-oriented. Through this movie has been intended that the reality to be shown exactly as it is, not like it should be... Real life has flaws too, not only qualities.
You have everything you want in this one... I am really convinced that the production team has put all its effort to make of this movie, one hell of a masterpiece and they really succeeded. You have a good storyline, with some plot twists here and there, you have unexpectedly great GGI effects, good acting and a badass intro and outro.
As I've noticed, at some point in the future there is going to be a part two and I look forward to it. This movie is very good, but I am giving it a 9, because for me the action has been built a little bit slower, which means that I've found it a little bit boring until the half of the movie... But the rest has been exactly how it should be!
Line of Duty (2012)
"Definitaly" one of the best police-based TV shows I've ever seen!
At a first glance "Line of Duty" doesn't seem like a top-end police-based TV series. In the beginning I expected it to be mostly average, but even before the ending of the first season, I've been quickly captivated by it's ambition to details, it's realism and it's shocking moments. I must admit that the show doesn't have many scenes that involves action, like shootings or car chases, there are only a few of these, but those moments are made very good. It's a TV show that it's based on details, on the ambition that you must be willing to put much work into something, in order to have a great result. "Line of Duty" it's a "living" example of that. Of course, it has its flaws, like any TV series that are out there, but I haven't been able to find any, which is a good thing.
Nobody (2021)
An unexpectedly good action movie!
The movie deserves a 10. Absolutely, no doubt about it. Right from the beginning, precisely just right from the first scenes presented in the movie, you simply just feel that this is going to be a masterpiece and it will immediately hook up your interest.
The movie is what a realistic action movie should really be. There are no those kings of fights in which the protagonist is fighting a bunch of other guys, it beats them, but he doesn't even has a scratch. No, not at all. The movie is ultra realistic and the production took it's time to pay very close attention the details, because most of the time, those are what makes the difference. In a movie like this, even if it's based on a lot of fighting and action, the details are still very important.
The plot of the movie it's not very complex (I don't even really see why it should be), but it's long enough and easy to understand!
The last aspect I've been very amazed by it, it's the soundtrack, not to mention, again, the attention to details regarding the songs. For me, the soundtrack in a movie or a TV show, it's very important and sometimes, even more important than the story itself. Every moment has it's own piece of music, which has been carefully chosen, in order to make you get more immersed in the atmosphere. Great choice of soundtrack.
Overall, the movie is a must-watch, especially if you are a fan of action movies, like John Wick (which is very similar to this one). The movie is a real deal and there are really slim chances for you to get bored while watching it. Congratulations to the production team, for bringing us such a masterpiece of a movie. I can't wait to watch the next part, If it ever gets to that.
Exam (2009)
Very good mystery movie!
Right from the beginning I've been hooked by the movie. The action and the plot are simplistic, but entertaining and interesting enough, to create that atmosphere which you would normally need in such a movie. There has been only one part of the movie that was a little bit too boring to me and there have been some things and actions that didn't make sense to me, but apart of those 2 aspects, the movie is great and the ending is unexpected, as it should normally be in a movie which is about mistery and suspense.
Mayhem (2017)
It's worth watching!
I am not really a fan of those kind of movies, but I've liked it just enough. The movie is good, not incredible, but is definitely worth watching. I've liked all the action, the gore, the music, the anarchy created in it, but a rating of 8, should be enough. It's worth watching if you wish to entertain yourself and it has some scenes which are really funny.
Gattaca (1997)
Short movie, but incredibly good!
This movie is extremely good. I didn't expect to like it so much. The truth is that I don't remember when was the last time that I've watched such a masterpiece. The movie is kinda short, but every scene and every dialogue, makes sense. It's not boring at all and it's not too long either, with additional scenes, just for the complexity of the movie. The movie is what it should be. It has feeling, it has atmosphere, it has everything you would like to find in a good movie. The end made me cry and this aspect alone, should say a lot about the quality of the movie.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)
This movie doesn't deserve all the hate...
I really don't get why people keep to complain so much about this movie. I've seen a lot of negative reviews about this one, but I don't really think that is what it deserves. Of course, the movie is not the best movie with superheroes, but it's not bad either. In my opinion the movie is good and it should receive a little bit more credit.
Probably the worst moment of this movie is the fight between Batman and Superman, followed by the death of the Superman at the end of the movie. However, I would like to say that the fight between them was only a circumstantial one, not really one which sprung of hate, or that kind of fight where one superhero represents the forces of good and the other being the evil... No. I think that the main concept of the fight was the fact that the really bad people (Lex Luthor in this case) don't need weapons, or some big muscles and a scary voice, to do harm. All began with some setup of both Superman and Batman and subsequently the kidnapping of both the girlfriend and the mother of Superman. This teaches us that the harm could be done in various ways and that even the most complete superheroes have weaknesses.
As usual, the special effects have been at their best. I've watched a lot of DC movies, some even for 2-3 times and I must say that I've never been disappointed by the special effects. The story is great, the final fight is great and the ending is really sad. The movie is good, not amazing, but good enough for me to justify the fact that it doesn't really deserves all the hate.
For anyone that didn't seen this movie, I am telling you that you should watch it. The movie it takes 3 hours of your time, but they are worth it, especially if you are a DCEU fan.
Boss Level (2020)
Like a movie directed by Cristopher Nolan, but a lot easier to understand!
The movie is much better than I expected. The movie is just a continous line of action combined with several moments of comedy and sometimes even combined with emotional moments. The way the story is told is enjoyable and it doesn't make you to get lost in the details.
The acting is decent, but I feel that it should have been worked a little more at the special effects. The ending is not really disappointing, but I would have prefered to have a clear answer to the question "does Roy die?". Anyway, maybe it is something that I've missed, maybe in the movie was a clue that could tell me if he is going to die or not. Probably the production team wanted this to be a mistery and make space for the assumptions.
Anyway, the movie is not bad, but not great either. I like very much the fact that it treats the theme of time, as Cristopher Nolan does with his movies, but in this case you have the chance to actually understand the plot.
Westworld (2016)
The first 2 seasons are the best, the rest is almost a mess!
I really enjoyed the first 2 seasons, especially the second one, which I consider it to be even better than the first, but the third season is almost a mess. I understand that the overall plot is a little bit confusing, especially during the second season and I can overlook this, but I can't get past the third season, which is a total cliche. The third season is still confusing, but pointless and it involves a robot who is fighting to destroy the whole real world, with the hope to let it reborn and be free. What is really frustrating is that the real world is really advanced, technology-wise, but a simple robot is able to kill hundreds of soldiers, who are blind. I mean, what are chances to win If you are alone against hundreds of real men? It seems that in the third season you have a 100% success rate.
I consider that the first 2 seasons are very good, but the third one is mediocre at most. I've liked the setting of the third season, because the world is so advanced and it gave me a cyberpunk like vibe, but the very confusing and pointless plot combined with the ammount of cliches makes it to be the worst season.
