Saw X (2023)
One and only SAW never disappoints
I won't be going into details about the plot, story, killings, etc... I just wanna say congratulations to everyone involved, production, crew, actors, stunts... You people did an extraordinary job, bringing that small piece of Jigsaw history to life. I am more than curious about your next move.
Detective Hofmann I thought you were not in this one, but yet, you appeared at the exact time on the right place.
Ps. I'd like to be a part of the franchise, and I wish if the production could give me a chance to write the next one.... :) Saw XI or any other saw spin-off. It would me my honor.........
Sleepy Hollow (2013)
The Horseman of Death
Very interesting, captivating and engaging plot. It does remind me a lot of "Lucifer" with that connection with "detective or lieutenant".
Primary, I thought it would be an expanded version of the movie of the same name from 1999, but after two seasons for now, I am happy it actually isn't. Somehow it looks like the continuation to that story where Ichabod Crane comes back one more time to resolve the mystery created around each horseman, and with the help of his "lieutenant" face new deadly challenges in order to achieve piece.
Great acting, time travel moments and an excellent story. 🥂🥂🥂🥂🥂
Leatherface (2017)
Interesting prequel
As the headline says, very interesting story with one unexpected twist in the third act. I really expected Budd to be The Leatherface, based on his look and outfit. But it was quite obvious it was Jackson.
The Black Phone (2021)
Not enough story.
At the very first place, I wanna say Ethan was brilliant in the role of The Grabber. Unfortunately, that's all that's good. Quite boring mostly one location movie, with references from other movies. The reason I rated it eight of ten is because of the yellow coat, clown and the ghost kids like in IT.
Since I recently had my foot in the industry, I understand the budget and everything, but I still wish there was a bit more story to show.
Saw (2004)
One Hell of a Twisted Mind
This is just a beginning of the franchise that will have many twists and turns as the story unfolds. I won't be giving reviews for each of them.
The most important thing in all of this is that John Kramer does not kill anyone with his hands. He just want to put them to the test of endurance and surviving and to check if they are worthy of the life they've been given.
And regarding the whole franchise, when I saw the last one, I had a similar feeling as if I had watched one season of the TV series and I wanted more. All the details are intertwined with each other, evidence appear from nowhere and it then shows up that the first and the last movie has a very strong connection (reappearance of Dr. Gordon, revisiting the story).
One word - Pure Horror/Psychological Masterpiece.
Dreamcatcher (2003)
S.S.A.D.
I read this book I think ten years ago. During the pandemic and then two days ago I watched and re-watched the movie adaptation, and saw how well it was executed, based on the book. We all know that Stephen King has his unique way of storytelling, This story was one of them. And it is very hard to adapt his words, expressions and descriptions.
Overall experience was quite satisfying although I wanted some more gore at the end. But that's just me :)
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008)
A Life Running Backwards
I really don't know how I could have missed this one since it was released in 2008. Excellent storytelling, great acting. One huge shout out to the make-up and VFX team who did and extraordinary job with Brad and Kate, especially with Brad and his face motion capture. He and the old version of him really look alike.
Awesome job :)
It Chapter Two (2019)
Pure Resemblance
And just like that, Andy, Barbara and Bill are riding again. First of all, I never thought you guys could pick all he actors who actually look so much alike their younger self. You exceeded my expectations. The story itself reveals some details from Derry's past and leaves the audience engaged and wishing to see the third movie, even thou the film ends where the book ends.
Compared to the first film, this one is more gory and bloody, Pennywise returns angrier and eager for the revenge and all he wants is to kill Losers one by one. Since all of the Losers know about it, they do not want to go alone to confront him, except for "Stuttering Bill"
The whole movie was great from my point of view and I really look forward to the director's supercut and to the third chapter, preferably prequel (with me attached to it :) ) Just dreaming about it :)
It (2017)
The Perfect Grin
I've wanted to do a review for this movie for a long time now. Since I am the child of the 90s, to be honest, Tim Curry's Pennywise was more of a funny than scary. On the other hand, Bill Skarsgard's version has that hidden horror in it. He played the role so damn good. I really don't think anyone could bring it better to life.
Regarding the story, above everything else, it is a story of friendship and children's bonding together. Pennywise is nothing more than their reason to be united and more stronger.
The script was good. A lot of scenes did not make into the final cut. And for Andy and Barbara Muschietti; you guys did an extraordinary job. As a future colleague, I can say I am very proud of your work. Just keep rocking :)
Unbound Evil (2022)
A New-Age Horror
I must be honest, when I saw the movie, I thought it would be more gore and bloody and I really expected that. However, it shortly changed my mind and I was blown away by the story, especially with one creepy character Pater Erastus, "sent from God" but looks primordially evil.
Regarding the actors and their characters, they really differ from each other, in a simple and unique way combined into one unity. Also, I have to mention the ending; I expected a bit more of terror, blood, fear etc... but since it looks like a "moment before Apocalypse " movie, that part was somehow hidden in the last few scenes.
Great job! Proud of you Vjekoslav Katusin and Konstantin Georgiou. Your effort and creativity always surprises me. Keep rocking this creepy cradle of yours! It'll be stronger with every next move :)))
Red Notice (2021)
RED NOTICE / My P.O.V.
What can I say? Such a great trio leading. I think that it is not their everlasting wish to possess the third egg that gave them wings through the story. They differ so much from each other, and that's what makes them unique as a group.
The story itself shows an incredible and adventurous mind of Rawson Marshall, the screenwriter and his ability to bring it up to the screen in such a powerful way. But it couldn't be possible without Ryan, Dwayne and Gal. They rocked and brought their characters to life the best.
And just like as Ryan (Nolan Booth) struggles with the word "teamwork", that's exactly what they are. A TEAM.
One huge congrats :)
Greetings from Serbia :)
C.L.E.A.N. (2020)
Diving Deep into the Tortured Human Mind
When I heard about this movie and read its logline/tagline, I never thought I'd like it this much. I can basically find myself in each of the characters, except for Claire. :)
The title itself points to some kind of rehab center or a hospital, the place where all kinds of addict go. But deep inside, or better said behind that vivid curtain there is something much more darker than we thought. There lays an evil that sucks the life out of C.L.E.A.N 's patients, making them to suffer and forcing them to revisit their worst nightmares from their lives and childhood. WHY??? Only because Lucifer wants more tormented souls in his doomed Hell.
Since I am a screenwriter, I have to admit that I am I need to read the script for this masterpiece. Konstantin Georgiou did an extraordinary job.
If we can say something about acting, Costas Mandylor was awesome in portraying a desperate father who sold his soul to the Devil in exchange for his daughter's life. Imer as Ruru Tawern gives some small but funny moment to this strange atmosphere. Mateo Kliba gives an additional hidden horror behind a cute and lost face. Generally speaking, all of them were awesome and I am very proud that I had a chance to meet some of them. Such an extraordinary human beings. Just to let you all know that I want the sequel :)
Great job, Vjekoslav Katusin. Keep rocking and making more excellent movies. :)
