Shookum Hills (2021)
Good one!
If you like caves and creatures, this one's for you.
Because of the many bad reviews I wondered at what minute the movie turned to be awful. And then it was over.
I had a lot of fun following this group. Even the creatures aren't that bad as mentioned in some reviews. Quite the opposite: In one shot from above they reminded me of a group of spiders. Very organically.
And yes there are some things you have to overlook. But this not a documentary about the World War II. It's a cave-creature-horrormovie. And it is filmed quite well. So stop giving 1 star reviews when you're expactations are to high.
After the Lethargy (2018)
Why?
What I fundamentally don't understand is: A film costs money. Even if it's a low-budget film, and especially then, I think everyone is interested in making the most of the little money they have.
And a film production doesn't just consist of the director. There are many other professionals from the film industry at work. And I don't believe in the saying that too many cooks spoil the broth. There are ALWAYS many chefs working in a star kitchen and the food is pretty good. Maybe not everyone likes it, but you see a certain structure, you see professionalism and: you can eat it.
The most interesting thing about this film was the DVD menu. Then the film starts and you ask yourself: Who is going to eat this? And so it continues. If you lack a sense of dialogue and narrative structure, can't identify capable actors or create clichéd scenes, then why do you want to make a film? What is the motivation? And as a producer, do I just want to get rid of money or do I want the film to sell? Can't the producer say something about that? The first five minutes are enough to immediately change the director or script.
I have been working in the film and television sector for years and am familiar with some constraints and unfavorable conditions, but even the films made by the trainees (not film students!) were more professional than this film. (Sorry, Mr. Carreté. But I invested money and time and the film is from 2018. I just expect a little more quality, for things that don't cost money.)
Who reads the script and thinks: This is what I'm spending my money on, the world needs to see this movie! - Please enlighten me.
Jeepers Creepers: Reborn (2022)
It's not that bad (for about 40 Minutes)
It's hard to make a good film. It's even harder to make a sequel to an originally good film. You need a very big ego or a lot of enthusiasm to face it. I'm assuming the latter and if a global corona pandemic makes filming more difficult, you shouldn't be surprised about the result. And certainly not about the many one-star reviews from deeply disappointed Creeper fans.
It's not a bad film, I've seen much worse (e.g. Terrified or Underground) but it's not good either. The green screen scenes are bad, overall the lighting is way too bright and yes, the Creeper looks different, which isn't bad, but unfortunately it's not really scary either, more like a drunk trucker who lost at mud wrestling. But if the setting isn't right, sometimes the original characters can turn things around a bit because you identify with them. Unfortunately it doesn't work here either.
The beginning with the seniors is quite original and I had fun. The introduction of the main characters is also successful. But the film loses its drive at the latest with the Voodoo witch. And the actual story about the Creeper barely gets going. Speaking of driving. Why does the Creeper have a new car? Oh well, it's been 23 years again. But why does he have it again a little later? The film still doesn't deserve a one star rating. I would at least give the film a 4 because it entertained me for around 40 minutes.
Aterrados (2017)
disjointed, confused and poorly acted
Yes, it was a psychological horror film because it was disjointed, confused and badly acted - absolute psychological horror. The music is ok and the monsters aren't bad, but the dialogue? I don't know where to start, but almost every line is illogical or makes no sense at all. I paraphrase: "We have to get the body out of the house!" - "But how, everyone sees it!" - A few moments later they wrapped the body in a blanket and put it in a freezer. The police officer with a hearing aid, some illness, suffers a heart attack. What does he do afterwards? Jumps in his car and smokes a cigarette...
Perhaps inexplicably, the film appeals to a group of non-horror film viewers who are overwhelmed by this confused nonsense and mistake the feeling for horror. :) Sorry, I don't want to insinuate anything here, but don't pay for this crap.
Mrs. Davis (2023)
A.I. written script?
If you want to see a really fun and weird series watch "Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency". I read, the authors had so many ideas. Right, but really bad ones. Good actors, good camerawork, everything looks fine. The rest doesn't work. Maybe not only the episode titles were written by a.i. - Maybe the complete series. Absurdity is not automatically funny or interesting, it needs the right context. But for some it is funny to hear simple gibberish, but without the right context it's just silly. Watch the two seasons Dirk Gently and you will see the difference. But it was nice to see Betty Gilpin again.

Love it!
It's great but I was very disturbed by the look of Michael Eklund/Martin. It's the same look as in Wynonna Earp?! What's that about?
Wynonna Earp (2016)
Ridiculous, bad acting, giant plot holes - but I like it....
I've watched the first episode only for ten minutes. Maybe it was the really bad cgi or the bad acting, I stopped watching. Half a year later, I've tried again and it's still the same: wodden dialogues, more bad acting (except Greg Bryk, he was brillant), unbelievable storylines.. but I'm still watching. It's episode 11 now and I'm happy to see the second season. What am I? A bad person, what's wrong with me...
Edit: Watching Second Season... it get's worse. It's like an accident, I have to watch!
