Little Dorrit (2008)
Perfect 10 - Gold Medal
They hit the nail on the head with this.
Perfect casting (with the exception of Maggy... maybe).
The scene towards the end with Young Chivery pouring his heart out to Arthur Clennam is incredible actibg. You're crying with him practically.
I've read the book and the actors did such a great job portraying the real characters Dickens wrote about.
This is my favorite period drama of all time.
I have no idea why this has an average rating of 8.2 and not a 10.
Yes... they maybe veered from the book a tiny bit in places but keep in mind they're trying to squash a 800+ page book into 7 episodes.
Mansfield Park (2007)
Not good. Very disappointing.
I wish there wasa GOOD Mansfield Park movie out there, but there is not.
I've read the book twice and enjoyed it but this movie didn't spark any joy. The casting was all wrong. Jane Austen would be pained in her grave to see this story portrated in such a way.
BBC - PLEASE DO AN UPDATED VERSION OF THIS FILM.
Emma (2009)
Perfect casting
I've seen several adaptions of Emma and have read the book 3 times and this is my absolute favorite. They did such a good job casting this film. I absolutely love Michael Gambon as Emma's nervous/hypochondriac father. Romola Garai & Johnny Miller have great chemistry as Emma and Mr. Knightley. Rupert Evans (??) gets Frank Churchill's personality spot on. LovE this.
