Living for the Dead (2023)
Actually seems pretty entertaining
Wow, 600 words?? Streaming TV is so so lean right now, you can see how the platforms are buying/gathering shows from anywhere they can. Sometimes that's a good thing, sometimes it's garbage( or somewhere in between). I gave this one a try and am 2 episodes in. I find it pretty entertaining ( although believing is pretty iffy). So this is about "professional" paranormal investigators of various branches. Why they're all queer is a wonder, but no problem. What seems bizarre at this early viewing time, is why do they all seem to harbor various levels of surprise, FEAR, almost run away screaming, all the gamut ... If they are trained in this, look for this, etc? A little cute, but makes one wonder about this professional badge they profess. I'll keep looking.
A Man Called Otto (2022)
The original.....
Original book was lovely, original Swedish movie was lovely. I like Tom Hanks, but a remake seems just rude and "American". I wish I hadn't watched. It wasn't bad, just arrogantly not needed. I guess it will happen hundreds of time in the future. I think it's a good idea to leave a good Swedish book and movie alone, there are lots of stories in the world. Sorry, you have to drone on here to comply with imdb rules. Wonder why they want to write much more than necessary. Wonder Wonder
Wonder Wonder Wonder Wonder. I do wonder. Succinct is much easier to get to the point. I really do wonder wonder wonder.
Tom Jones (2023)
Didn't quite make it through the first episode.
I can't say I'm familiar with the original or the book, but certainly heard of it. I have to say the characters were pretty unlikeable... Maybe that's what the book portrays. Males and females alike were snippy, immature, unrealistic ... Far too modern for the story. I would have to say it felt like watching a Disney adaptation, and not a good one.
I'm sad. Time of year to go hunting a good little series to fill network voids. Uh-uh, give this a miss. And 600 character mandatory responses here just make us inane and stupid at times. I didn't like it much. I didn't like it much. Not my cup of tea, so they say, definitely not worthy of my time. There ya go.
Joyride (2022)
These reviews are just harsh (some) and all over the place. 😊
It's not the best movie I ever watched but I found it enjoyable and worthwhile ... And believable. Ms. Coleman is 49 and in the movie made reference to her age and she was surprised it happened. 60? That's pretty reaching dear other commenter.
Motherhood is scary and confusing and you want to run sometimes... Also with her childhood trauma. The young boy had some experience, so he helped her. Not ordinary, but I can see it. Ms. Coleman is a long time and seasoned, awarded actress. I think it's marvelous to see such as her in smaller, more everyday normal kind of movies. Hurray, it was enjoyable. "Believable" would be different for every one of us. Maybe less judgmental is a great idea. Good, good job.
Accused (2023)
I keep watching, but maybe no more.
I liked the premier. They've actually had some good, known stars. But somewhere in the mix, it always feels a mature and forced. I really can't figure out exactly why, but it's just a bit off and not top notch.
I'm confused. Maybe the stories are old and too used, but there's never that many new stories out there. The actor would be expected to deliver good performances. But they all seem a bit forced and just not realistic or something one could relate to.
Feels like a very sub par story and especially acting deliverance.
Why do these imdb reviews have to be soooooo long. All comments are valid but you have this set number of characters required, which makes for a lot of baloney thrown in. Boo. Not a great show.
Conversations with Friends (2022)
Immature people (age irrelevant)
I love British TV and film. I love the slow and thoughtful. I like the long glances and pauses and development.
But this story, oh my gosh it's too messed up to endure. The main younger girl looked maybe 18 and acted more like 16. She was 21. The man was so much older and yet so prone to his own personality and sad situation. We've got here near 20 years of difference and that's just a lot of kinds of wrong.
Just sad people floundering. It didn't feel like different kinds of love... Maybe many kinds of stupid. Sometimes it's just wrong and this glamorizes it all. Old and immature, no safe sex. All kinds of wrong.
Under the Banner of Heaven (2022)
Such a muddy convoluted story
I've got to put a word in on this. Phhh, wow. I spent a large (most of) my life in the LDS culture. This show is just so, so muddy in its story that it kind of sickens me. All religions have their issues, all people have their issues, but this is just seemingly all upside down and backwards. I learned a lot about what the series was actually about from reading posts here on IMDB, because the story just isn't very forthright. Generally, this seems about huge problems in the Fundamentalist LDS branches that have developed over time. Most of the mainstream LDS people in Utah have no knowledge, no experience, no nothing with this belief system or where, how and why they practice what they practice. But they've got it all mixed up with mainstream Mormondom that it's just really hard to figure things out. I have no idea why they're sprinkling in church history blips here and there, Joseph Smith, horrific acts that occurred back 150+ years. Not that some of that isn't true, but what's it got to do with this story?? They're spreading falsehoods, half truths, innuendos for shock value, without any proper context, regardless of real truth or not. The story is average (not much new at all here), the acting is okay, but the overall feeling is just so, so, so wrong. It seems to be saying this is how Mormons live. The truth is it's light years away from the very large amount of people that do live it. Fundamentalism is pretty tiny. It's not much of an issue, especially in places like Salt Lake City and larger LDS community places. I guess that doesn't matter to most people. But I feel it's real wrong to a large religious group and it's not fair to spread such inaccurate situations that people will definitely misconstrue. So who cares here? Probably nobody. I watched the first episodes but I think it's time to stop. This isn't any good for much of anything but sensationalism. Let's not even get into what LDS people wear under the clothes. How utterly disrespectful and pointless.....
Lucy and Desi (2022)
I loved this one.
Sure, nothing much too new here, but it had a really lovely and memory invoking feel. I was born about the time their show started. Grew up on all of it. I didn't like Being the Ricardos at all. It felt dark and sad and just not pleasant. It seemed to make them both not nice folks and even their love for each other was tainted.
Thanks Amy Poehler for putting together a real tribute to them. I appreciate it.
Love Off the Grid (2022)
Biggest collection of immature and unrealistic humans ever. Phew. Uh-uh...

The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window (2022)
Just silly.
Just silly. Not smart enough to be all the things it tries to be. Thankfully the episodes are short. (I'm sure this is a commentary on the attention span of modern watchers). Just embarrassingly silly. And I don't have 150 words to write here. I already wasted the time watching this! .......?.........................................
After Life (2019)
Hard to describe.... Rethink
I thought I mostly liked it before, not sure now. The subject matter is important. It's not easy, but so nearly universal... Important. I just felt a gigantic disconnect when the humor and the language digressed to such ridiculously bottomless levels. I'm not a child, I know the words. But can't see much humor in this, no matter the depth of the grief and/or depression. It's just very, very, very low class and pointless. Excuse me, I need to go heave... I feel a bit scarred.
Next day thoughts: Overall (especially the ending) it's a wonderful lesson on life and love and getting through. The language and some scenes were pretty horrific. I'd skip right through anything with Brian in it. There are no words for how base is his part... And why it's even necessary. So fast forward him (and ignore some Mr Gervais language often) and it is a very good show.
Passport to Love (2021)
Unbelievably naive folks
Might speak to modern love failures. All these women are expecting "commitment" with 2 weeks. In what world is that good, smart, or remotely workable? It's TV, want to hook people. It's OK for lots of laughs. Embarrassing look for American females.
Colin in Black and White (2021)
I'm grateful for education on most any level or source, but ...
I watched every bit of it. I learned a lot, thank the program for perspectives and history that needs to be relearned, correctly. However, I couldn't often see the real Colin on the screen, and feel much past a huge Kaepernick Pity Party, with little real world basis for what he proposes to represent. I'm feeling kind of embarrassed from his place of privilege, that's all that shines out.
I'm glad I watched for what I could learn. But so much negative emotions, such poor me personal perspective that had nothing to do with race or injustice. And poor Mr and Mrs Kaepernick hearing how second choice he was. Shaking my head.
The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City (2020)
Yeeeeaaaaahhhhhh.....
Let's get botox shot into our armpits, cuz we just can't be sweating inappropriately. Need I say more? ... Cmon people.
Destination Wedding (2018)
Wow, the divergence of opinion.
I was shocked by so many very high ratings... Then the ones and twos started flowing in. Sorry Keanu... What a flowing stream of robotic words. Never felt a bit of reality. My head hurts. Intelligent movie, script? About like reading the dictionary very quickly. Phew... I give up. Click.
When Nature Calls (2021)
The animals should sue.
Nothing funny. Just stupid. Let's take magnificent nature and ruin it. Sheesh.
Life Sentence (2018)
Never have I ever
Seen do many people make so many bad stupid choices at every turn. It's very tiresome watching all the idiocy going on. Yeah, she's cute but sure shouldn't be married. Poor everybody.
The Kominsky Method (2018)
Mediocre to tedious to bad
Amazing the 10 reviews on here. Its not that funny. The language is tedious and tiresome. Sorry, I find people folks who just can't talk without profanity every few words just aren't thinking real swiftly. Oh, just didn't like it and so many annoying, unlikeable people. I was hoping.
The Sister (2020)
Americans and Brits 😊
Probably an oversimplification, but it always looks similar. Large preponderance of Americans dislike these British Mysteries/Crime shows. They are slow-paced, require thinking and patience. I enjoy most immensely (I'm American). I'm not saying this is the highest rated I've ever watched, but it kept my interest, I enjoyed it. Patience, peeps, take some time. 😊
Stowaway (2021)
Medium...
Maybe. I like slow paced, methodical, thinking drama. But this one was just slow (that can be okay), but incomprehensible. Some great actors in here, but seemed so miscast in the parts. Toni Collette is one of the best... she wasn't believable at all in this role. Just felt incomplete and made little sense. I wonder who figured Anna Kendrick would fit the part .... uh, no. Darn ... I was hoping.
Firefly Lane (2021)
These reviews are amazing... And confusing
Lots of 10s, then lots of LOW scores. I found it kind of yuck. They sure do a lot of dumb things for best friends. Kathryn Heigl is herself... Fill of herself, not likeable on any level. It just doesn't ring true or good for me. So many bad decisions for both. This isn't worthwhile time spending. Nope. I quit it.
Nurses (2020)
Everybody's hungry for new shows.
But probably still good ones, please. Even if these folks were decent nurses, most of them are just boring or unlikable. Kind of cringy to watch. I think I'll pass.
Chicago Med (2015)
Worst
NBC .... PLEEEEAAAASSSSE fix the music. It's disturbingly monotonous, like a bad 1930s movie. Makes me want to punch somebody. I came back to try it again, and I can't deal with this show. Sooooo bad.
Earlier review: Can we rate a zero? If you had to go to this hospital, just have someone shoot you first. The music makes me truly want to throw my remote at the tv constantly. The doctors are all egotistical and just run roughshod over patients or other doctors. I am amazed its made it this far. Such a bad, disturbing show. Shame on everybody making it.
A Killer Uncaged (2020)
In general, these kind of shows are pointless for a healthy mind
Yes, I watched a lot of it ... mostly incredulous such things are found as "entertainment". I didn't end up believing most of it, but in the bigger picture why would I have any right to think one way or the other. Maybe the justice system is WAY screwed up (yeah, very likely), but for average humans to be voyeuristically watching and getting entertainment out of it is very, very strange. I'm sure I'm in the minority but, again, why so much of this on all the venues to entertain people? It seems really wrong to me. I guess there are far too many true crime enthusiastis to stop it, but please, we should think about our fellow human beings and wrong or right, why would good people watch unfortunate ones do what they do? Just watching will never change one iota what goes on in the justice realm. It's just feeding bad thoughts in ourselves. I will not do that again.
Surviving Confession (2019)
Shaking my head over these reviews.
I have no problem with the subject matter. I am a "thinking" person. But the acting in this seemed generally so amateurish, it seemed some strange church production. Really... Overall the subject was good and important. Some people called it a dark comedy? It was just a bad job... So sorry.
