Saka no Tochu no Ie (2019)
Frustrating (and revolting ?)
Not very subtle, they rub our faces in to make sure we understand the similarities between the 2 protagonists. But it's ok.
It's hard to accept that Japanese patriarchy. Come on women ! Stand up for yourself and tell those men how dumb they are. My mother said...
Although a bit long, I did enjoy the show. I was often wondering, did I do that, could I do this better ?
But mostly I resented the verdict. 10 years instead of 12 thanks to mitigating circumstances ? All that demonstration for nothing ? I thought she would get 2 years max or nothing at all.
This show is a joke, a lie, hypocritical.
Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
A mix
It felt slightly disjointed.
The movie seems similar to a Best Of album.
They took all the best scenes they had and cramed them in that package.
They took the best out of the first Top Gun and included it.
The movie is often unrealistic. The movie is a giant Tom Cruise advertising. He had to be In in the end, although he knew better. The MI flair is too much.
The caracters are too glam to be true, too flattering.
But I do like many pieces, I do like the music at the beginning, I do like Tom's coolness, I liked many of the stunts.
To me the pieces don't add up nicely, but the movie is rather good if you like Tom and Top Gun.
Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)
I didn't care
I struggled through the movie, a few times I wanted to leave.
It's long.
The acting is rather good but nothing matters.
Like watching birds fly except birds are pretty.
A few surprises. I heard people list all spiderman actors, saying Andrew was irrelevant. To me Andrew was good, with Emma they made a terrific duo, one that mattered.
I probably won't resist the next Doctor Strange either, let's hope it's better. That the comedic and romantic elements don't feel artificial.
Titane (2021)
Hugly Nonsense
That was hard to watch, maybe too close to me.
I thought about leaving the cinema, it's long.
I kept expecting some great development.
It didn't make sense to me while watching it.
You just don't care after a while.
Boîte noire (2021)
Thin inflated plot
I was disapointed,
the story feels artificial, the twists seem forced. Twists for the sake of twists.
This is a piece of work rather than a work of art.
This morning I was asking myself, why that (thin) love scene?
To me the answer is, it's like the rest, forced.
And it's long.
But, of course, by actual Netflix standards this movie is good.
The Suicide Squad (2021)
Could be worse
One or two nice sequences,
I even laughed once,
Anybody notice the tiny bits of Horizon Zero Dawn score ?
The Green Knight (2021)
Feels like a disjointed greatest hits album
There might be a deeper meaning to this,
But it's buried under 2 hours of beautiful and sonorous boredom.
I'm gonna take a bet that there isn't a deeper meaning hence the greatest hits album.
I've watched a lot of such fairytails in my youth, I've been spooked more than once. That's what I'd be looking for, some deep cord striken.
Pretentious came to my mind.
Black Widow (2021)
Styropor
Looks like something, feels like something but it's nothing.
They lacked substance so they inflated every possible little encounter.
The beginning was ok though, I did believe for, say 15mn.
Then it was boring. I didn't care (or identify) with any of the characters.
The stunts and fights at first, are impressive, they have punch.
But soon it's other the top, unbelievable.
To me the jokes fell flat (you'll know)
They like to show her bottom which makes sense.
It's watchable if you've got nothing better to do.
Kreuzweg (2014)
Painful to watch
The movie is well done but, for me, very hard to watch.
It's hard to believe parents can be so allround stupid.
It's also hard to believe priests can be or are so wrong about humanity.
The movie is frustrating to extremes, makes me angry.
Freaky (2020)
first boring than (a little) fun
The beginning was the usual stupid slasher.
The second half did surprise me. I guess it will surprise you.
Chaos Walking (2021)
Better than some others
I thought it was ok for tv.
Some good ideas.
Good actors.
Boss Level (2020)
Fast food
Ok for what it's worth it's well done.
That's it.
I just rewatched Groundhog day.
It's still charming, funny, smart.
This isn't and it's fast paced so you don't notice.
The Dry (2020)
Style over substance
The beginning is seducing.
Actors are charming.
Mood is intersting.
That's it.
The ending is cheap and unbelievable.
So cheap they need to explain it.
Holidate (2020)
Anybody notice Ryan in the shop ?
Emma is gorgeous (maybe too gorgeous).
"Sorry your review is too short", so...
As others wrote it before, it won't be the best nor the worst movie to ever grace your screen.
It's a enjoyable.
Avengers: Endgame (2019)
Zombie ?
Did anyone consider how weird it would be having half the worlds population reappearing in a second after 5 years ?
Thanos does have a point. Earth would be healthier and nicer with only half its humans.
Infinity War was so good because it had the balls to go where it's headed. Balls like never before in such a movie were heroes can die 10 ten times without ever dying at all.
I did think this was too good to be true. They'll probably land a cheap trick and drown that whisky.
I Am Mother (2019)
Don't waste your time.
I totally agree with charlesg (except for the last comment, there are really people giving this 10 Star)
That girl was super boring and didn't act just the slightest as someone who has been raised by a robot for the past 20 years. So much potential wasted here. Do you really think this girl would even think about disrespecting her "mother" after literally knowing no one else for like EVER?!
And why would an AI even put up with such a primitive human, AIs can calculate Billions of stuffs per second, ah dont get me started here. Any "logical" thinking AI wouldnt waste their time trying to teach a human.
They could have thrown tons of silly stuff in this movie, you know, like someone who has been raised by a robot! and knows nothing else. Why would she even wear clothes or behave or have morals or yada yada yada. Sorry, but i skipped forward all the time and still was bored, i think most of the 10 Star ratings here are bots.
Bird Box (2018)
Minimal, well done and effective but is it Tragic ?
Seems to me a metaphor about actual's Ecological situation :
Nearly everybody leeds a normal satifying and careless lifestyle.
More and more scientists warn against many fast changes (biodiversity, climate, nuclear and plastic waste...)
In response many feel helpless. Probably sad and depressed for a while.
Many doubt and deny the negative scenarios.
Finally we refuse to see the truth and ignore or silence the scientists...
WEIT. Die Geschichte von einem Weg um die Welt (2017)
A lovely way of life
It gives a glimpse of many different cultures. Seems very authentic. Authentic places, the way I like, where people live. Lots of smiles. Above all, her glorious smile :) . Lots of beautiful faces. Many fine and surprising cinematografic ideas. Many laughs. Simplicity, courage, love, intelligence...
Hikari (2017)
Intelligent, sensitive but flawed ?
Some interesting insights into being blind and hence being human. Some nice développements and cinematography.
But why does the pretty young girl fall for the handsome older guy, again ?
It felt like sugar coated medicin to me.
Ava (2017)
Une surprise !
I found it bold in many ways. I'm not sure of having already seen something like this. Violence boldness, artistic boldness, hippie boldness, yes, but every day boldness ? boldness to accept one's weakness ? Boldness to accept my weakness ? I found it surprising in many ways but it goes with it. It's funny, crazy, sexy, cool, true. I do not want to spoil any surprises so I won't say much more. I don't know if it's a great movie, but for me it is a memorable movie as I do not often see.
