Sint (2010)
Sinterklaas tradition with this cult horror classic
Every year on Sinterklaas (which I haven't celebrated in years) I snuggle up with a hot cocoa, some chocolate letters and marzipan and watch this really really bad movie as a cult comedy...the references are so 2010! The acting is bad! The plot is holey (see what I did there) and the rest is history. Love what they did with the limited budget they had especially the rooftop scene and the awful looking horse. Set in my favourite dutch town the setting is familiar, as are the actors. Revisiting all the things you forgot about Sinterklaas as a child and tuning in on some fake legends, this is Dutch lore at it's best. Gather some friends, get this film on and have a good Sinterklaas evening together!
Hawaii Five-0: Ua Hopu (Caught) (2012)
Wo Fat fight scenes!
Mark Dacascos. In a suit. In the jungle. Doing fight scenes. My 10 stars are just for that.
Steve goes out of his way to keep Wo Fat safe, since he turns out not to be the only one looking for the elusive criminal mastermind.
Emma. (2020)
Not the one for me
Although beautifully shot and directed, not my Emma. I'll stick with 2009s version. Jeremy and gwyneth had way more chemistry and, to me, beauty. But, that is in the eye of the beholder of course. And 2009s miss bates.... I miss her too. Miranda hart is just too cool for school!
No Time to Die (2021)
Not very original and not traditional either
This was quite a disappointment. As an avid Bond fan, I really looked forward to this. And waited, like everyone else. Lets say the only positive things are (for me at least): the cars, ana de armas and the use of satchmo's classic. I found this one even worse than quantum of solace. And that's saying something! Looking forward to the next Bond.
Together Forever Tea (2021)
So cute and great chemistry
A lovely tale on tea and besides the standard harlequin plot it also was a tale of lost lives, loves and regrets. The main characters have great chemistry. The supporting actors and actresses are solid and quite funny. The actor who plays Nigel has a terrific voice. He really made this film more interesting. Grab a bag of popcorn and, if needed, some tissues, and enjoy!
Onze jongens (2016)
Dutch mix of the full monty x magic mike
Movie in which the storyline is a mix of mm and the full monty. The dancing is quite impressive, the male physique abundant and there is just enough story in it to make it interesting. I had fun watching it, and that is what you expect with a movie like this! Jim is getting better with age, and Juvat is a treat. Have fun ladies, and don't bring your guys unless they are open to pick up some dance moves ;-)!
Veronica Mars: Weapons of Class Destruction (2005)
Logan to the rescue
After slowly building Logan finally shows his true colours. And ends up with a very surprising thank you from our heroine!
The Fate of the Furious (2017)
Great action but it's the smaller scenes that steal the show for me.
Just what can you can expect...but with some surprises. I think they did a good job following the demise of Brian which marred the F7 movie which will always be remember as Paul W's last. By now i guess everyone who wanted to see F8 has seen it, and is (like me) eagerly awaiting F9, so all the highlights and crazy improbable stunts are now known. It's the little things in this film for me. Helen M faking emotions in a screen stealing moment with her son, and than a smile of victory. Reminiscent of her role in RED! Charlize T getting more and more irritated hacking "her" sub, and delivering ice cold lines better than she did in Snow White and The huntsman. Jason S smiling during the 'save the baby'-sequence. Elation on Letty's face when Dom comes back to the fold. The Roman selfie...and the lack of snow tires on his Lamborghini.
I like basically all the comic relief in an otherwise grim toned instalment. Boring? No. Over the top? Definitely. But that is what's to be expected. Don't expect Shakespeare. Expect action and the fast and furious franchise delivers!
Lucifer: Til Death Do Us Part (2018)
Laugh out loud with two evangelists
Mark and luke go undercover. Jerry B finally delivers a proper fight sequence up to par with his movies. And cain as reluctant partner is hilarious. Both Toms are amazing in this series.
