Carrier (2019)
Great start, but falters as the season goes on...
I listened to a previous show by QCode, "The Edge of Sleep." It was very satisfying. But here, the plot falls apart, and the sound effects can't compensate (they felt unbalanced and too soft). Not just me: I recall just reading a review by someone stating they were a truck driver who couldn't figure out what was going on half the time. That made them want to ditch. Someone suggested a narrator, I just think more context is needed. I need to keep turning the volume up and down with the louder-than-usual ads and yelling of a character.
Limetown (2015)
Engaging, but a mixed bag
The first season was incredibly immersive due to its delivery: put together like an investigative journalist story right out of NPR. The characters were entertaining, the dialogue was good and the idea that it was a radio program helped form a unique investment in the story.
However, in second season, the radio show format was ditched and a new protagonist was introduced for a larger-scale story. While the characters and mystery still had some substance, I felt it was unsatisfying (especially the ending)
