Robin Hood (2018)
I gave it 2 because it was at least entertaining but..
Historically inaccurate. I can't go into detail without spoilers but let's just say that a LORD was never a common soldier during the crusades. Lots of items that wouldn't have existed in that time and seriously unrealistic combat scenes for the time as well.
If you want realism or adherence to the actual legend this is NOT a good Robin Hood adaptation... it's pretty awful in fact. If you're just looking for a historically inaccurate medieval action flick? It's.... bad... but watchable.
I turned it off halfway through in disgust.
Can someone make an ACTUAL remake of Robin Hood and stop with these awful 'interpretations' that are nowhere near the mark?
The Outpost (2018)
Solid once you give it a chance
The show has a rough start. The first episode is noticeably inferior to the rest of the episodes but that's forgivable. The show tells a believable fantasy story with an engaging and interesting main character. The rest of the cast are solid as well, characters are relatable and interesting without being 'super heroes'. The show has a good pace, interesting and entertaining and the plot moves nicely without feeling rushed or delayed.
Easily one of the better fantasy series on TV these days. A lot of people try to compare it to Game of Thrones but it's an entirely different feel for a fantasy series. That is not a bad thing. Game of Thrones is great but it's nice to see a fantasy show with heroes that don't die every episode as well :)
The acting is solid and the choices of actors to play the various characters was superb as well. Some of the script lines are a bit rough but that improves as the season progresses. By the 3rd episode you'll be binging :)
Charmed (2018)
Solid and fun
See a lot of really negative reviews with some pretty hefty misinformation. The show is cute, similar but not the same as the original, which is fine. Have watched the first two episodes and have found them to be fun episodes to watch with interesting interaction. I think the pilot over did the personalities a bit but the 2nd (1st?) episode did much better. It's really too early to tell how the actors on this show will grow into their characters. The first couple episodes of the original were a bit rocky themselves so folks need to give it a minute before jumping to conclusions.
Was it amazing? No... but it is a good show with decent, if not great, acting and good special effects and, so far, interesting episodes. My only complaint is that they kind of jumped into 'big bads' a bit too fast and should have given it more time to grow. But overall it was good. Definitely better than a lot of other shows I've watched recently.
Runaways (2017)
Massively over rated. No way does this deserve it's 7+ IMDb rating
Poor acting, really bad story. Boring... it's taken them 5 episodes to get exactly nowhere with the plot so far. Also.. the characters in this show are Stupid... and I do mean stupid with a capital S... characters. Seriously... Nobody is this clueless.
The entire theory of the show seems to be that the bad guys are bad guys because everyone on the planet is so dumb that they haven't noticed the idiotic stunts they've pulled. The show also seems bent on portraying the kids as mentally challenged too. Sure one of them has some tech savvy but, seriously... some of the 'mistakes' they made are 3rd grader nonsense, not high school.
Not believable at all. And I'm pretty forgiving of most marvel titles. I've liked a lot of them just fine. This one is just... awful.
Not sure how the critics are rating this so high. It's absolutely NOT that great a show... it's not even that good a show... it's borderline awful.
Watch it if you have some time to kill and nothing else decent is on... that's about the only advice I can give.
Underworld: Blood Wars (2016)
Excellent movie, I don't understand the 5.8 rating on here at all.
This was a very good addition to the franchise. It did a great job of tying up a lot of loose ends in the plot from the previous installment and, as always, the story/adventure was quite good with some excellent acting all around. No, it's not a romcom, nor is it a romdram and it's not meant to be either of those. This is a combat/adventure movie with some mild political intrigue thrown in as a backdrop to the war between the Werewolves (lycans) and the Vampires.
It's not sparkly vampires and fluffy werewolves from twilight. These are your classic badguys in a war with one another. The story was great, the acting was pretty solid as well and... Kate was amazing as always.
Great movie, far better than the 5.8 average it's sporting right now.
