It Chapter Two (2019)
A Different Take...Not Necessarily Better But Pretty Good Nonetheless.
No, this is not proofread, I wrote this right after walking out of the theatre what did you expect.
I honestly don't know whether to love or hate this movie. To start off with the negative - the background story of what Pennywise really, actually, is, is convoluted, cliche and, by the end of the film, doesn't make much sense. It's as if the screenwriters were so sure they were going to make money off of the sequel that they had no problem with adding a lazy plot device, ie, ask the Indian, and that they put no extra work into layering out the details of said lazy plot device.
They turn my main man Mike into a liar, a literal parody of the "crazy guy in the attic," tried to convince me that Bill's big problem with "bad endings" is more important than exploring the Richie/Eddie thing that, let's be honest, we were all pretty sure something was happening in the original TV movie, or even the short climax of Bev and Tom (that one guy you see for like three seconds, you know, enough to realize he's a bad guy, but not necessarily a great actor) and their abusive marriage.
The actors were great, don't get me wrong. Even when they shredded Mike's character or made Stanley seem like more than just a man who was terrified, they represent the character's they're supposed. It's just not the character's you might remember from the classic novel. Wasn't the fact that Mike was the literal lighthouse in the sea, and the fact that Stanley was just a terrified man, not make the books, not only more realistic, but more enjoyable. (I mean we all like to think we would be Mike or Bill, defending the Universe, but in reality we're definitely Eddie, who was scared , or Stan who was content with death over facing the "Eater of Worlds."
On to the positive, the actors are THE highlight of this movie.
Jessica Chastain is a Bev Annette O'Toole can be proud of. She's terrified of It, yet does her best to be more than just the "damsel in distress," it definitely helps that she's gorgeous, plays a layered character and delivers in her performance. James McAvoy can just find one part he doesn't shine in to give the rest of us hope and Bill Hader is witty, sarcastic and everything Will Tozier should be. Jay Ryan is gorgeous, and a great actor, and yet, somehow, seems to have a fat, scaredy-cat kid, hiding under all of that layered perfection. James Ransone, I had no idea who this guy was, but I'm amazed he's not doing more movies and being an A-Lister. He plays his part well and I actually felt emotion, real emotion, when he died, people reading this, it was intense. Isaiah Mustafa is good, but definitely the weak one, in this six-way. Andy Bean is another actor that I just want to watch more of. His few minutes on screen, and his voice-over, (spoiler: there are so many voiceovers omg there are just so many voiceovers and just those have to be like 30-45 min of the sound and editing time), are just fantastic. Bill Skarsgard can just stay a few million miles away from me, by the way, I don't know what it was but this guy freaked me out so much. It was probably his very presence, but I immediately wanted to run away when I saw his face. If anyone has a career in horror or suspense it's this guy.
I approve of this movie, I really do, I love when Directors take the gems of my childhood and don't rip them to shreds but I just feel like the plot and the entire movie could have been so much more. I give it an 8 out of 10. The actors save this lazy plot and the directors should probably thank them for that.
Queer Eye (2018)
Why Be Sad About The Current State Of America When You Could Watch Queer Eyes
I've never watched a show before that has made me cry, learn about the importance of beard grooming and made me want to believe in humanity again. That was until I watch Queer Eye. The critics are right in saying that this is what the world needs right now. From fashion tips to encouraging words from mature, wise, funny, amazing gay men, this is what we've all been waiting for.
I (almost) would like to describe this show as an ointment for sadness and tears. I watch an episode as often as possible because of the hope it gives me.
I have never rated a movie about an eight but this show deserves, earned, a ten!
Me Before You (2016)
Me Before You
This movie is beautifully heartbreaking - with amazing performances by the quirky Emilia Clark and the devilishly handsome Sam Claflin and a soundtrack that fully represents the real love and pain of an amazing couple. This movie is one of those that you'll watch over and over and cry about for days.
The entire cast and directors deserve a huge round of applause for the emotional story they put to screen and you'll fall in love with this amazing romance over and over again.
And yes, the ending will leave you breathless.
Coraline (2009)
Incredibly creepy and thought provoking - still haunting after nine years
Incredibly creepy and thought provoking this movie is still haunting even after nine years. Although the story of "you already had what you needed" is common in today's world, the list of deep and haunting characters make up for any stereotypical storylines you might have seen. From the wise, sarcastic, scardy cat, to the witch-like, not-so-nice mother there is a myriad of characters to be marvel at. The real hero of the tale is, of course, Coraline and Dakota Fanning. This film was just a hint of Fanning's incredible talent for adventure and suspense.

Sometimes in April (2005)
Hauntingly Gripping
If there is one movie every person should see it is "Sometimes in April."
Hauntingly gripping this movie spans the one hundred day genocide of tens of thousands of innocent people that ripped the small African country of Rwanda in half. This movie tells the many different stories that spanned that one hundred days and how racial violence so quickly, yet so precisely, led to the death of thousands of people. This movie shows the real pain that the victims experienced in those days, including the innocent women and children. This movie also shows how the annihilation of the Tutsi's was not an accident or random acts of violence but something that was prepared for. This movie is also highlighted by it's cast who portray the pain of the victims of the tragedy and help highlight the bitterness, fear and pain that continues to plague the country even years later. And the violence of the movie only shows the rampant pain and sacrifice.
The Conjuring (2013)
A husband and wife team, who fight the ghosts and demons we thought only exist in nightmares
The Conjuring is quite simply one of the best movies you will ever watch. The superb acting of Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson help bring the story of a husband and wife team, who fight the ghosts and demons we thought only existed in nightmares, to life. The acting of Patrick Wilson seems to grows in leaps and bounds where he becomes a normal man who only wants cares for his wife and defending a large family from demons. The cast of young girls who make up this movie are not only skillful for child actors but For actors - they have amazing talent and it's almost startling how great they do. But the real hero of the show has to be Vera Farmiga. A superb actress she highlights the perils of Lorraine Warren while also bringing hope and gentleness in an otherwise perilous and frightening film. I can not believe how much I loved this movie and I really encourage you to watch it and delve into the lives of Ed & Lorraine Warren.
Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments (2016)
I Sympathize With Book Fans But....
Look the idea of a good movie or tv show that can accurately display the pure awesomeness that is the Mortal Instruments is something that is just simply impossible. However, as a stand alone, this series has a lot of good ideas. If you are a die hard fan then you might want to check out some of Cassandra Clares next book but if you love glitter, warlocks, mysteries and the red-est hair ever then check this series out it's a real interesting show that although no Shameless or Stranger Things will keep you entertained.
Lights Out (2016)
Scares, thrills, awesome acting & strange red lighting
Alright, so I'll admit going into this film I was a skeptical of the idea of a ghost haunting a family. I mean how many times have we seen awesome trailers that turned out to be Major let downs. "Lights Out", however, is one of those revolutionary pieces of film that should have inspired other film makers to force the boundaries of conventional horror films. One of the most innovative and outstanding pieces of work in this film is the character, Diana. Formless, and only visible in the dark, Diana is what we as children feared. However, her suffering as a child with a severe skin condition also allows you to have pity for this strange creature. But besides the pity and fear there is something about this character, and this movie as a whole, that will convince you to be afraid of the dark.
Wish Upon (2017)
Clichés & Chinese Demons
The horror movie genre has certainly overplayed its "surprising twist" ending to its max. However, before I get to the obvious cliché of this film and how what COULD have been an amazing movie about the perils of wishing and Chinese demons I have to give kudos to the cast. Although Joey King's acting will leave you a bit confused at times, the talents of "Wish Upon's" supporting cast help elevate this movie from God Awful to Worth A Watch. Particularly, actors Ki Hong Lee, Ryan Phillipe and actress Sydney Park. The movie, however, does not hold its promise as a cautionary tell. In fact, one of the most damning parts of this film is that it simply did not push past the boundaries of horror films, even with such an amazing idea. Even the twist at the end is an obvious cliché. While watching this movie all I was thinking about as the film ended was how there was no way there would be a happy ending. And that is what makes this film a "5" because when your audience expects, nay, knows how it is going to end then you have obviously failed already.
47 Meters Down (2017)
I Just Saw This Movie
Although it is a pleasing to see Mandy Moore push through the boundaries of a "chick flick" actor - this movie does not hold its promise of being a "fight for survival." There are only a few moments within the movie that allow the viewer to be on the edge of their seat the rest of the time you will be left wondering if there will ever be another shark movie not seen as cliché, especially if compared to Jaws or Open Water. Although a specific scene in the film will leave you in complete relief its later reveal will only serve to frustrate and underwhelm you. Its fast pace and the skillful acting of Moore & Claire Holt will allow you to enjoy this movie but it won't convince you to leave the water for good.
