Roman Empire (2016)
Why the hell are all the long shots 144p and the close ups 4k?
Ok, so after watching season one and starting season 2, I have a few nitpicks.
Even though the story of the first season was amazing. Of course, it did help that it might be the most interesting emperor of all time, and despite all the bad things I'm gonna write here, the sets of the actual important story elements looked and were quite good.
So, firstly, I must say, the battles they show in the beginning of S2, with scesar, were very inaccurate. Romans fought in organised lines and formations.definitely not in a large battle, without shields in a huge chaos of 1on1 fights. I mean, it's the minimum. You get experts, which aren't so insightful to be frank, and sell this to me as a almost science docu and get that wrong? Idk.
So yeah. Like I said in the title, for some reason all the long shots are weirdly bad In a way that just doesn't make any sense, In any context.
I mean, the regular scens look great, but you just feel your watching two different productions.
One made in India on Redmi 6a and the other, well, an actual film studio. It's confusing and got me really un immersed in scenes switching back and forth. There is litterly no reason. Put a stock photo instead. Anything. It's not complicated .You can get much better phootage in the 50s.
I don't get it.
On My Block (2018)
Starts awful, real awful. However it does get much much much better.
The first 3 episodes I suffered. The comedy was bad and the story was awful. However after the 3rd episode the story really kicked in. It became interesting, real interesting. The comedy however was so-so. in the 2nd season there was 0 story, but the comedy was just AMAZING! Jamal knocked it out of the park! So did Chivo And Juanita of course 😉. Something that I don't think was done on purpose, but Monse and Ruby are just really bad people, real bad people. I hate them. They are awful. Also the acting is horrible, except for Chivo and Jamal.
A very bad and slow start, sure. but they elevated it to something really special. 8/10 for me.
Mr. Nobody (2009)
This movie is a must watch , just be mentally prepared for a storm of emotions
This is the most immersive movie ever. When nobody is in love with his 15 year old step sister i really felt in love , I was living it. Of course this isn't the only example, when he had to choose between his parents I felt like I had to choose I felt so bad and torn apart. In every other story I also had such strong feelings these where just the strongest in my opinion.
I felt I was violated I have never felt so involved and present in a movie, I had so much simpathy with each and every character. I am going to think about this movie constantly for the next couple days.
It's a must watch!
