The Good Doctor: Quarantine Part Two (2019)
Season 2, Episode 11

No resolution
5 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
That wasn't resolved. At all. We only Know the CDC shows up because we see a truck in the background. But, there's no resolution. What was the disease? It is contagious according to episode 10, sooooo how did the cdc test every one who was in the quarantine, for an unknown virus, and decided that everyone can just go on the same day, quarantine is lifted for no reason other than the episode is over. So let's move on to another plot line without resolving this one.

That asian kid is so annoying. The dad is a trauma surgeon and he complains "you didn't show up to my baseball game". So? Get over it. It's not dramatic at all.

The writing was bad on this one.

Wildly underrated
17 February 2023
People who didn't rate it too well are people who didn't either watch the show until the end or don't have much of a sense of humour.

It's pure Katherine Tate, at her best.

It'd been a while since we saw Tate play a bunch of characters, and a first to have them all in one show.

Great idea for a story, good cast, good jokes, fun moments, touching moments and an incredibly surprising ending. Hopefully Netflix won't ruin it with a second season. Sometimes things are best left as is.

Not sure that 600 words should be the minimum to write a review. Sometimes a few words describe best what you want to convey.

It's time imdb removes this required characters nonsense please. Or make it like 100. Not six hundred. Please guys. .

Nothing new at all
16 February 2023
What we thought we'd see was Titanic's wreck. Instead, they repeat things we know already. Everything the voice over guy (whose voice doesn't belong in a documentary) says are things we've known since the late 90s. James Cameron has given us hours of incredible footage, these guys show us 4 minutes of the bow, some close up of some metal, and then it's all footage of either the guy in the sub, b rolls, reaction shots, cgi stuff.

The wreck looks exactly the same as it did in 1991. These guys keep saying "oh it's corroded!" Really Sherlock? It's a shipwreck.

The search for Guggenheim state room made me laugh. Who cares. There's a guy who's supposedly a descendant of the G man, and he's like "oh it's cool I'm standing where he last stood".

Boring.

"This is it, this is the state room right there" turn camera to: a piece of metal on the floor.

Boring.

All of it, boring.

Simply the Kardashians

I don't understand the length people go to to hate these women. They actually come on here and mass under rate the show just out of spite. When I don't like something I don't watch it, I don't even think about it. No wonder Khloe is becoming a recluse and is afraid of crowds.

I love these women, I first started watching KUWTK the day after I decided to quit drinking (I was quite ill from alcoholism), I was at my lowest, and that day I thought "I'm gonna see what all the fuss is about, keep me thinking about something else".

Over the next 12 months almost to the day I binge watched all 286 episodes. Somehow, especially Kim and Khloe, these women have helped me find the strength to get out of bed in the morning and seek health, and exercise, and find the will to work hard and be my best self. They accompanied me via their show through my first year of recovery, through a lot of laughters and a lot of tears, and they'll forever have a special place in my recovery and my heart.

So haters be hating, but I am so happy they're back, this show is just comforting to have, it's like having neighbours, they're just there doing their thing.

Though I skip through Kourtney usually, makes me uncomfortable watching people do it in front of the cameras.

Incredibly bad
12 February 2023
Wasted potential.

Season 1 was fun, it was out of the ordinary, even though the actress who plays Sabrina chews the scenary like a panda chews on bamboo to survive. She is terrible. The character of the cousin what's his name, the one with the terrible fake English accent. Gosh every time he spoke I wanted to smack the potato out of his mouth. Terrible character, and extremely bad acting.

Having said that, season one was indeed promising!

Then season 2 just dropped the ball. I still watched it, even watched the 3rd one I think. I'm not sure. I blanked it all out.

Suddenly they kept singing for some reason, the first time was masquerade from phantom lolz then more musical numbers.

I BLAME BUFFY for all the good shows that suddenly ruin everything by having musical episodes. STOP IT IMMEDIATELY.

Then everything became absolute nonsense. I stopped half way through an episode I couldn't tell you which season.

You know Netflix, there is nothing wrong with having a ONE season show! Also you know Netflix, there's nothing wrong with hiring good writers. This world is full of excellent writers wanting tv work, why hire terrible ones?

They're the same age!
12 February 2023
How! How can Jon and his mother and his father be the same age? Why wouldn't they choose a cast that makes sense?

Swoosie Kurtz and Kevin Tighe are barely 8 years older than Terry Oquinn, not even. So they all look exactly the same age. Of all the things in this show that made zero sense, this has to be the worst so far, and I'm not even done with season 1.

Slapping on a terrible party city wig doesn't make Terry's 52 year old wrinkles go away at all.

At times I wonder why I watch this series at all. I watched it years and years ago until almost half way through season 5, thinking it was good and years later I thought "hmmm let's rewatch it and check out the ending" even though we all know it. But now I am wondering if it's worth the trouble. I'm even wondering how I could have found that show any good. It's really bad.

Office Space (1999)
5/10
Middle of the road
10 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
So this movie has two plots in it, which cancel each other. First it's about a man who for no reason stops caring about his job and no longer shows up and does other random silly things, for which he gets a promotion.

Then half way through the film, we drop this plot to have the man and two other employees start embezzling. The man's promotion plays no role in that.

Over night they get 300k dollars, and they panic and wonder how to launder it. This goes nowhere because in a muttered throw away line in the first half, Milton burns the office down. End of film.

In the end they wonder if the money burned with the building, which makes no sense since that money was digitally in a bank account, one of the guys actually holds the bank card to it and checks the account. So why would the money disappear in a fire?

I feel like either plot line should have been focused on which could have made for a fun movie. Lost opportunity.

Jen Aniston appears in it but plays no particular role in either plot, which makes me think in 1999 her name on the cast list was just to have a big name, and in 99 Friends was still at its peak.

Terrible writing. Despicable characters
6 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
There is so much that doesn't make sense. Like a suitcase that was underwater for weeks and yet when they open it, everything inside is dry, even the papers. A jet engine that is detached from the plane and yet is still running, and explodes up in flames, not knowing where the fuel came from, waiting around for weeks to look around the island for water, when clearly anyone with common sense knows a jungle will have plenty of fresh water, planting a herb and veggies garden with seeds appearing from nowhere (since no one ever really leaves the beach), John Lock being a survivalist even though he's never done anything remotely survivally in his life, dialogues that make zero sense, the main character Jack with a God complex, for zero reason, people having random skills for no real reason, for example that guy who knows everything about natural cave ins because he was a builder? A French woman who sends a distress signal in french, even though her when we meet her later speaks a flawless English? Why would she do that? To narrow down her chances of being helped by anyone picking up that signal? The list is long and I haven't finished season 1 yet.

I watched it years ago, I think up until season 5, when it was reaaaally dragging, and never watched the end. Recently I thought "why not?". But Gosh it's so bad. People seem to know things for no reason. I keep asking my TV out loud "how do you know that?".

If you don't mind illogical dialogues and characters you couldn't care less about, then it's fun ish.

That's Mariah for you
22 January 2023
Her fans who think she can do no wrong will rate it 10 out of 10.

I think with Apple budget plus Carey's purse, they could have done something incredible with the stages. Unfortunately you can tell this was done within perhaps a couple of days and a load of green screens.

In addition, it lacks perhaps a message of hope, especially after mentioning the "difficult year it's been" a couple of times (referencing covid).

Having said that, it's pure Mariah. It's self loving, it's cheesy, in fact it's the kind of Mariah cheesiness that made me laugh out loud, at how ridiculous it all was! But in an honestly funny way.

This woman is just here, she's around, she does her thing, she minds her own business, and millions love her for that.

Amazing vocals, especially if you pay attention to the melisma prowess.

I'll watch it every year.

Black Is King (2020)
1/10
Recycled garbage
5 October 2022
I have called myself a huge Beyoncé fan for 2 decades if not more, I used to drink up every thing she touched, and sometimes I wondered if I wasn't one of those people who refuse to see mediocrity in the artist they worship.

Until this... When Beyoncé came out with her self titled visual album (you know, the one with drunk in love), she broke the internet. Then lemonade came out and it was a little more artsy, with a different message, spoken words and people just standing there were outshined by the grandeur of the costumes and the world loved it.

Watching black is king made me feel like I was just watching another lemonade, but flat and set in a different place. It's more people just standing there in ridiculous costumes, whilst Beyoncé speaks about how kings were great and celestial, for some reason. We all know monarchy is oppressive especially in history.

And doesn't she dance anymore? Is that it? I was expecting some incredible choreography from her, which is what she is known for. But she just stood there while others danced around her.

This is a huge vanity project, showing off how much money anyone is ready to throw at her just to slap her name on it. Because, as the down ratings for my comment will prove, Beyoncé now is just a marketing tool. It's a trade mark. And fans just like what she does just cause.

The pretend links to the lion king is another example of Beyoncé milking the heck out of things she does. She's done it with dream girls, did it with "at last" that I can't stand anymore because of her, and now the lion king. One voice over role in that film and she now owns the lion king and just cannot stop shoving lion king things down our throats.

Extremely disappointed.

Hocus Pocus 2 (2022)

Meh.
1 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
It takes 30 minutes for the sisters to finally come back, in a 1h35 movie.

The intro was terrible, the acting was appalling, the kids acting as the sisters as kids were dreadful. The rumbas were better actors.

For some reason, the children were being banished from the town for swearing, they're 10 year olds without parents for some reason, and in the middle of the expulsion the town's people go berserk because of a spider...

The first witch is wearing makeup and clothes clearly from 2020 when they're in the 1650s (we're just hoping for a bit of effort of any kind, even make up).

The actors supposed to be 16 are clearly in their late 20s, one of the kids looks 30.

Then they're back ... The first thing they do is look into the camera and sing a song... Literally the very first Thing is a song.

SJP was having the time of her life. It was a delight to see her so into it. Bette Middler never disappoints of course. The sisters themselves are a delight, great acting and that's really what we wanted from that film. Though I was hoping they'd Interact with Alexa instead of running from it.

Suddenly Billie the zombie has a cockney accent.

The writing is poor, though it's obviously made for kids, not for kids from the 90s who were looking forward to a remake. But that's the issue these days with Netflix and Disney et al. Talentless writing. The sisters not having a moment with Alexa is proof that no good writer was in that room.

The side story is boring, and the point of that boring plot was some woke after school special about diversity. I'm all for it but in that movie it was just out of place for just one line towards the end.

I ended up rooting for the sisters to kill everyone in town and prosper. Unfortunately somehow the book decided to betray its owner because it has a mind of its own for some reason and now there are new witches in town. I smell a franchise.

Overall I'm glad we got to see Middler SJP amd Najimy together again and they deserve every penny they make but if you're gonna show your kids a hocus Pocus film, show them the 90s one.

Her name is bambi?
27 August 2022
In the list of the best episodes of this show, this one is in the top 5.

Seeing Scully at home doing her routine outside of investigate work is well thought of, her cleverness is well written, and their interactions are fun and funny.

We see the horny side of Mulder which is fun too, and bambi is a character that should have reappeared throughout the entire series.

This episode is proof that a silly plot can be really well written and this is one of the first episodes that showed us that the XFiles knew how to make fun of itself.

Note for those who don't have the dvd box set: when scully arrives at the supermarket and the cars crash, this wasn't actually scripted, you can see it in Gillian Anderson 's face.

Great classic
27 August 2022
One of the best episodes in the entire show, sets the bar really high for one of the best seasons of the series. 25 years later this is still a classic, every time I walk in a forest that's the first thing I think about. This episode is one of the reasons why xfiles is a great show.

Gillian Anderson singing joy to the world is a bonus.

I wish there had been a follow up episode, or this was made into a movie.

I don't know what else to write but imdb wants a 600 words review. So this is me ad libbing to reach the word count. Jeremiah was a bullfrog, he was a good friend of mine. Honestly imdb reduce the mandatory word count to 300 please. Sometimes a few words make for a great review.

Meh
25 August 2022
This doesn't feel like a pilot episode, more like a mid season filler.

Half the music including the very first notes we hear and the last are actual scores from GOT, which are clearly bait. The end scene also calls out to GOT when it's simply not needed, another bait.

The sex and violence seemed unnecessary and misplaced. Half the episode is about the tourney.

Matt Smith takes me out of the world by having such a familiar face, though his arrogant acting successfully makes you hate Daemon Targaryen from the first.

The CGI is a bit much, including the colour palette. Feels like an early 2000s film.

I've read the book this story is from, and for those who haven't, if the show becomes as exciting as the story then do watch it, but I feel like the conquest of the seven kingdoms and the arrival of the Targaryens in Westeros would have been way more exciting.

I'm really sad it ended. Laugh out loud sitcoms are hard to find. It's clever and roasty and everything you need for a great laugh.

I don't know why this is rated so low, it should have lasted longer but Whitney said it herself she was stopped in her writing by censors.

Feel good movie
10 January 2022
It's a classic feel good Christmas romantic comedy with a twist. Emilia Clarke is funny, the whole thing was good enough honestly it deserves a better rating! People are too cynical, I don't know what they want out of their TVs. This film is perfectly good.

3 January 2022
Even though the story is incredibly poignant and very much on point when it comes to discussing the real issues such as women's battle against abuse, this short film is quite fun! It has great colour schemes especially the bar scene, has a couple of funny jokes in there. Well done! The French subtitles were perfect.

25 December 2021
Jimmy Carr is one of the funniest people. I loved almost everything about it. Some moments were a little meh, but I think the worst worst worst thing about it, and this is what Netflix is doing to all stand ups now apparently, is that camera in the stand up face just running around. The guy is being circled by a camera, it's awful! They did that for Jack Whitehall too stop it Netflix! NOW!

I have not laughed so much in a while, I don't know why this doesn't have a higher rate! I think it's probably because people are getting more and more dissatisfied with everything. Honestly this was such a riot, so many one liners I will re use in my day to day.

Samuel L. Jackson has some of the best lines.

Highly recommended.

23 December 2021
The lead is very clearly well passed his 40s and yet he has a roommate and calls him his "best friend", like a kid would say. Adults playing kids. Also in the middle of a date the guy takes his phone out and looks at pictures he receives. Rude.

And what's with the plot which has an overbearing mom and family in general more concerned about this guy's love life than anything else? Trying to break up a new romance to build one without any chemistry?

Seriously there's no loving tension between them until the plot asks for it.

Kathy Najimi did her best. Thank God for Jennifer Coolidge.
