The Lair (2022)
Poor
It's hard to believe that Neil Marshall directed the likes of Dog Soldiers and The Descent and can then produce this.
The acting and script were sub par and all the affected accents were unconvincing at best, the special effects weren't special...in fact, the only stand out thing about this film were Charlotte Kirk's implants.
The monster costumes weren't great either and what with the secondary 'tongues'? The way it was introduced It seemed to be an important thing but after the initial hacking off on the tongues it was never really touched upon again.
Why was everyone so gung ho to blow themselves up in order to be the hero when there were much easier ways of taking down the monsters?
Very forgettable and not worth ninety minutes of your precious time.
Love and Monsters (2020)
Great film
I admit the title nearly put me off...however, I got over myself and was then treated to a fantastic comedy adventure which o have recommended to anyone and everyone who'll listen.
Perfect balance of action, comedy and sentiment and one I've watched a few times now...watch it now, thank me later.
Scare Me (2020)
Good fun
Not sure why there are ratings of ten and not sure why there are ratings of one as it deserves neither.
I really enjoyed this film, it's not really a horror (although there's a jump or two) but it is funny, it is engaging and the acting is top notch. If you're not totally dead inside, like some of these reviewers, then in sure you enjoy it.
Bill & Ted Face the Music (2020)
Oh dear
I loved the first two and had low expectations for this film but it was worse than expected. I originally scored it a four with the extra point for nostalgia...then decided it didn't deserve it.
Keanu is far too rigid to play Ted these days...the charm of the originals is nowhere to be found, there's not even a good soundtrack to save it, it's just a bad film...if 2020 was a film it'd be this.
Fear, Inc. (2016)
Fun film
Think The Game but with horror fans. I really enjoyed it.
War of the Worlds (2019)
Nothing happens
....and then there's more of it. I truly hope this doesn't get the second series it's been set up for.
Valentine (2001)
Good film but...
Dorothy needs to close her mouth more...this annoyed me far more than it should've and I couldn't stop shouting at the TV.
Polar (2019)
could've been really good
....but they cast Matt Lucas as the bad guy. All the scenes with Mads are great, any with the hit squad or Matt Lucas are dreadful and take any credibility away from this film. Such a shame, a decent bad guy would've made this a good film. I can't express just how much this film is ruined by having Matt Lucas in it.
Patient Zero (2018)
Oh dear
After seeing the cast I thought this could be quite good, those actors wouldn't all sign up to a terrible film would they? What's that? They would? Oh...that's a shame.
It probably would've worked a little better if the mostly English cast didn't all put on American accents...but that's just one of the issues in this film. If I could go back in time ninety minutes I'd tell myself to go and watch some extreme paint drying videos on YouTube instead as this would be far more entertaining. Avoid, avoid, avoid.
