Midnight Cowboy (1969)
Everybody's Talking at Me
SImply said, This is an astonishing story about people who don't live up to other's standards,Joe from Texas goes to New York after his Girl has been raped. He thinks he's gonna make it on his good looks with women, but really only male hustlers go to 53rd and 3rd and make it with men. He hooks up with another outcast Ratso Rizzo' Played brilliantly by Dustin Hoffman. After Joe realizes he's not going to make it alone , Ratzo is not a good manager he should have gone to 53 and 3 a painful but loving relationship begins. Just talking about this movie makes me cry, and the scenes wwith Andy's Warhol's party make me sick as he used so many people( Andy) But the end is a friendship and love between 2 men that isn't really sexual. Watch for yourself.
Of Human Bondage (1934)
Every Time I had to Kiss you I had To Wipe My Mouth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This movie saddened me and Ms. Davis's performance was great. Leslie Howard's addiction to her saddened me as he took her back time and time again. I don't care if Bette was a little overdone. SHe practiced for this role for a LONG time and she played the tacky trashy Mildred to the hilt. I almost felt sorry for her as her downfall (death) happened. But my real sorrow went for Leslie Howard who was a Fabulous actor and played his part with excellence. The other remakes were pretty well but this was the BEST. My opinion of course. Good film. It's almost a drama/horror film. This was only a part of the original book by Somerset Maugham's wonderful work. But it really hit me right in the gut, like a movie should . It shows how one's man's addiction to a heartless woman(or man) can wreck your life. As in ( we hurt the one's we care about) See it. Too bad the production code came into Hollywood That very year by the phony Will B. Hayes
Andy Warhol and his Clan (1970)
Andy Warhol ,While being a wonderful artist
On Andy: While being a progressive and innovative and excellent artist, was also a voyeuristic exploitive, man,who exploited others to his own gain and did it well. An excellent example was Edie Sedgwick. A fragile but beautiful socialite who should have gone straight to Vogue and stayed there, took a wrong turn and met ANdy Warhol, who made her The "Girl of 1965". SHe starred in his amateurish films for about 2 years and went downhil from there due to her addiction to speed as were others at "The Factory" when they had a disagreement about her being paid for her movies (which he made a fine living off of) she left the factory. One comment he actually made was "I wish we could make a movie with Edie committing suicide" He also had another "superstar"thrown down the stairs (ANdrea Feldman) who later took a fatal jump out the window. He was a vapid unfeeling man with I'm sure his own personal demons. Is it any wonder someone shot him? His works are very interesting but that's an artist for you.
