Edmond (2005)
A middle-aged man attempts to fight back against his soul-numbing bland existence. He does this by visiting various seedy pick-up and strip venues in an attempt to "get laid".
This movie is an adapted screenplay of a David Mamet play. It is pointless and senseless. It has two very violent but not entirely graphic scenes that are uncomfortable to watch. It has an all-star cast of cameos and stars William H. Macy - who is excellent in the role. This movie appears to be an obvious attempt to dissect the blandness and numbness of the life of an average white collar "everyman". It is very poorly done. It is obvious that the movie was a play at one time. Its point may be to demonstrate the desperation of a man's soul as he realizes that life is "hard". The movie is awful (in the bad way sense)and in many ways predictable. Its saving grace (if it really has one) is that some of William Macy's dialogue brings up the type of topics you might talk about with your college friends after 5 or six hours of drinking, when the talk turns to life and philosophy. I am sure your friends have better analyses than this movie.

Very Strange but somehow engrossing
This movie holds your attention for some reason. However, let me warn you it is very strange. 1.) What mother would leave her child with a stranger she JUST met while the mother goes shopping? 2.) What mother would leave her baby hundreds of yards away ALONE on a beach while the mother gets oral sex from a gay man in a gay assignation wooded lot? 3.) Nice bodies on the two women - ugly face on the backpacker though. 4.) What is the story for the backpacker? The short conversation between the backpacker and the mother about the birth process for the mother is "revealing" but does not seem to really develop the backpacker's rationale. 5.) The ending would seem logical for a suspense/horror film if there had been more background earlier in the film. 6.) This film could be considered a "short" due to its low level of character development - but the film is almost one hour.
