Genuine post modern masterpiece
21 April 2023
It feels wrong to write this off as a 'parody film' when it is genuinely an amazing comedy/drama superhero postmodern FILM, its a real film. When you hear 'parody film' you might think of 'Scary Movie' or 'Disaster Movie' but this film uses other material in such a transformative way that it does actually become original stuff.

The film is moving, its funny, its charming and smart and its a real shame that WB threatened litigation against a genuine work of art.

This film is obviously most enjoyable if you know the batman mythos/and or know the aspects of the queer experience, but I think this film would still work even if Batman was not a real thing and was only invented for this movie.

I would say to anyone who has an opportunity to see this movie, to take that opportunity cos it might be your only one.

Generic zombie action film
20 August 2020
The nuance of Train to Busan is gone in the sequel unfortunately. The characters are all pretty standard in this case and the plot is predictable and cliched unfortunately, not to say its objectively bad but its been done and seen a million times. This film has some good action scenes though and while its very much a genre film to a fault, the tension is great in action scenes.

This film is a fun action flick to entertain you for the entire 116 minutes, but dont expect any originiality or thought-provocation in the film.

Misunderstood

"Evangelion is like a puzzle, you know. Any person can see it and give his/her own answer. In other words, we're offering viewers to think by themselves, so that each person can imagine his/her own world. We will never offer the answers, even in the theatrical version. As for many Evangelion viewers, they may expect us to provide the 'all-about Eva' manuals, but there is no such thing. Don't expect to get answers by someone. Don't expect to be catered to all the time. We all have to find our own answers." - Hideaki Anno

End of Evangelion released on July 19th, 1997 in Japan Evangelion 3.33 released on November 17th, 2012 in Japan.

The story of 3.33 begins 14 years after 2.22's conclusion. Ultimately, the plot does not matter. The story was never meant to be about the lore, or the EVAs, or the Angels. The story is one of Japanese society, and those who reject society and seek ways to escape their lives. 2.22 was an idealised version of the original series by the fans, and in Eva's irony, Eva's characters have become caricatures on which Otaku and Hikikomori can escape reality, Rei in particular. 3.33 is Anno talking to the audience.
