Tom Swift (2022)
Why ...... why?
I can understand updating and sexxing up the storyline to make it more attractive to current young audiences, and CW's Riverdale is an excellent example at how well they managed that.
But this time CW went too far and forgot that story .... is not just the most important thing but the only thing.
Tom Swift is Black ... and gay. And likes to weld bare chested. He talks a little Gangsta and so does the family's taste in houses, cars, fashion and .... swag. Ok maybe it's supposed to be camp ... but if it is, it's not funny. People die on an exploding spacecraft sent to Saturn and a security guard gets his neck snapped.
I will not be watching another episode. I was simply too embarrassed for all the people involved in the production. It is nearly unforgivably bad.
Love at First Dance (2018)
A movie about dancing that knows nothing about dancing
As the main plot device of the story, the writers of this script clearly know less than nothing about dancing.
There is no music playing during any of the dance scenes. How is Hope supposed to teaching dancing without music? It defies ... comprehension and belief.
Hope attempts to teach dancing by wading into a fountain in Central Park. How is this supposed to work? Maybe by weakly replicating a scene from Dirty Dancing? BUT the reason why Swayze and Grey were dancing in the lake was to practice catching her without injury. Geessh!
Midway (2019)
Midway is better than the pro critics proclaim.
The critics are right in that the movie is a little shallow in terms of plot and character development ... but the need to fill in the story of events leading to Midway in order to educate a 21st audience meant there is too little screen time to accomplish address those deficiencies. The end result is still a rousing drama despite knowing the forgone conclusions. The only things that detracted me were the little jabs against the Japanese demanded by the Chinese producers of the movie, so transparently added to the story line to further the real grievances the Chinese people still have against Japanese aggression. But really, the war is long over and those guilty of atrocities are long dead or surely will be.
The Weapon Hunter (2015)
I hope there is a Season 3 !!!!!
I have to respond to the two negative reviews here. I think Paul has done an amazing thing, not being a historian or a TV personality he managed to pitch and have a TV show produced and broadcast for two season. His passion for his subject matter is authentic and sets his show apart from others.
BTW, he is not some gun lovin' redneck, he is in fact Canadian! Which a simple Wiki search or observing the Canada Telefilm funding emblem at the end credits would have easily revealed.
