Charly (2002)
The perfect watch for GAM
I cannot wait to hear the God Awful Movies podcast and their breakdown of this movie. It's a perfect one for July "Mormon" month, and I am so glad they chose it. I watched it specifically to be prepared for the next episode. Title character is an artist, and is converted after seeing a picture of Jesus dying (quite cleanly) on the cross. She then says to Sam (Utah) that she has read the book of Mormon and in spite of being an intellectual, she believes it and can't stop "the feeling" she gets from praying. Then Sam calls her "used goods" (even though he knew from the outset she was "practically engaged"). And after much reflection, decides to forgive HER. Then a bunch of shenanigans and they eventually marry, have a kid, and she kicks the bucket.
Friends: The One with the Invitation (1998)
Take a day off
I hate when the cast members essentially phone in their parts so they can roll the tape from previous episodes to fill a supposed current episode.
I did notice Rachel's last name on the invitation was spelled Greene.
Friends: The One with All the Cheesecakes (2001)
The one with all the cheesecakes
Rachel and Chandler fight over who gets to eat the most of entire cheesecakes that get delivered to their door. This is how women the world over wish they could show affection for such a decadent dessert, but only Rachel can pull it off.
I loved the story with Joey and Phoebe. He's a very good friend for her, and gave her a free pass with David.
The Monica cousin wedding was horrible.
Dying for a Baby (2019)
Very cheesy and far fetched
I enjoy watching bad movies, and this more than satisfies the bad. Every character is over the top.
The 40 Year Old Virgin (2005)
I didn't expect to like it
I'm kind of a prude with my movie tastes. I tend to not like toilet humor. The "setup" for the movie took over half of the movie. It could have been accomplished in 20 minutes. We get it. His buddies are trying every trick in the book to get him to have meaningless sex... His personal life is the punchline of the work place.... and his awkwardness at trying to talk the talk and fit into that culture was good for cheap laughs.
The part of the movie that got interesting was where he meets Trish, who genuinely seems to like him. His children genuinely like him and they make a connection. His shyness to admit he's never had sex, of course makes for a good issue for him to get over, and I really liked the way Trish's daughter was genuine and respectful of him.
What gave the movie redeeming value, is that his girlfriend was very encouraging to him, and respected his morals.
Grey's Anatomy: Song Beneath the Song (2011)
Nice idea, poor delivery
I had a hard time appreciating the voices of the actors or the dialogue of the story, when it all comes in one cacophonous pile of goo. It's too bad, but I agree with the other negative reviews here.
Grey's Anatomy: That's Me Trying (2010)
Sandra Oh's acting
I've really been riveted to this season and I particularly appreciate the writers and the actors who demonstrate that the aftereffects of a horrendous event don't just disappear after a couple of encouraging words. It is really believable to me that Cristina is far from being "over it".
Workin' Moms (2017)
It was too crude for my taste
I am sure I am likely not the target audience, but I found the 2 episodes I watched very disgusting.
Blackfish (2013)
I remember Tilikum RIP
I was a child who lived in BC when Tilikum performed at SeaLand. I remember the news of the death of that young trainer very well. And then a few years ago the other trainer at Seaworld. I've always been fascinated with the beauty of Orcas and never thought they belonged in captivity.
I just saw this documentary on Netflix and I'm glad that it was not afraid to get emotional over the heartache that is the outcome of having wild huge sea mammals in captivity, separated from their pod culture.
