Boring, overlong, cartoony characters
17 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The film was somehow overlong and boring. Everything seemed to repeat itself over and over again. Scenes stretch like chewing gum. The old masters like Scorsese and Spielberg seem to have recently lost their sense of timing: This film should have been two hours long and not three. And last but not least, DeNiro and diCaprio: both stretch the corners of their mouths downwards from the start, like in a cartoon. The love for his children remains pure assertion. Nothing came across for me. No family life or anything like that. For me, Jesse Plempons was the highlight of the film. Since there was never really any tension, I wish they had made a film from the detectives' point of view. Now it was nothing half and nothing whole: not exciting enough but not really informative either (the background to the crimes remains unclear). Fairly entertaining.

Dawn, that flic was hollow
2 October 2023
I was very surprise as the film turned out to be a very hollow matter. Why did they stretch the "Hello Barbie"-"Hello Barbie" joke all over the movie. Running gag? This film was so boring, the jokes so unadventurous, the characters so flat. The film was the look and feel of a 20 minute-TV-show stretched to infinity. Ryan Gosling was cool, but in the wrong movie. Margot Robbie is beautiful. That's it. She squeezed exactly one characteristic out of the puppet. After watching the film a would have assumed it would make 20 bio at the box office. What was I wrong.

A very painful movie experience. God save us all if there's a barbie cinematic universe on the horizon.

Sorry, no!
21 October 2022
This film was terrible in so many ways. The story felt flat and repetitive and the plot was similar to so many movies before. Why this kind of story again?

Oil, greed, christianity.

Paul Dano's parody of a preacher felt so far from everything that made sense in this film. He was so bad. Daniel was okay but had a hard job to handle the boring outline of the film.

I remember coming out of the movies in 2007 in Berlin and couldn't believe that this mess was for real. Never came out of the movies this disappointed again. Hated it literally.

Jonny's music was nice but didn't save the movie for me.

I guess without the hype back then I wouldn't care much about this celluloid disaster, but after the good critics I did feel cheated in a big way.

it was okay

Warning: Spoilers
I was underwhelmed a bit by the sheer amount of fighting, hacking, slashing, jumping, beating and stabbing. At moments it felt like a lord of the rings ripp off with the mighty power of the 6 stones (one ring to rule them all). And over all didn't the big master plan of thanos make any sense: whipe out half the population of everywhere will make what better, exactly? So what's left are some funny moments, some childish gags, mixed cg (thanos looked great in the close ups, but when rendered full scale his lip movements looked that fake like Dr. Manhattan's from the watchmen film). So we are half way through saving the world again. What comes next?

Worst film ever!!!
10 August 2007
I've just seen this awful movie and I'd like to say it's such a waste of time. The story is so uninteresting that the good acting doesn't matter anyway. The whole movie you're waiting to see something surprisingly - no way! The worst thing: the fact that it's made out of stereotypes and clichés makes it even worse than TV-trash with just something like storyline or charming characters. Somehow it makes me angry having seen this, so this comment… such a dumb piece of film! For the fact this is a Bavarian film, the heavy dialect seems just to suggest, that you are watching an authentic movie. What a fake! The little boy is acting well, there are funny scenes in it, but the whole time there are elements that are feeling so fake, that you ask yourself what kind of intellectual twist they were having in mind. Even the good photography helps feeling more bored - has do be well made, but it's not. One of my bottom #5, definitely!! Even worse than… no idea.
