Working Girl (1990)
4/10
Strictly for Sandra Bullock completists only
5 September 2015
I watched a bunch of episodes of this, somewhat below average, sitcom out of curiosity. Now, I enjoy Bullocks acting and looks no matter what she's in. I found this sitcom pretty bad. It's a combination of bad acting, being outdated, and lame, unfunny jokes. I didn't even chuckle once. It's also pretty forgettable. I've only seen four episodes and can't, for the life of me, remember anything about them. Bullock's talent was obviously already wasted here as she shines brighter than the rest of the cast. On the other hand, I didn't feel like I wasted time watching this. It just wasn't funny in the least bit. Probably why it was canceled! If you're a DIE HARD Sandra Bullock fan, check it out if you have the chance. Otherwise...stay away.

The Final Heist (1991 TV Movie)
7/10
First-rate thriller with a troubled star.
3 January 2015
This rare French-Canadian heist thriller stars Jan-Michael Vincent as a top-notch art thief with dreams of retirement with his five year old daughter. When she is kidnapped by an unknown party, he has 48 hours to steal a Van Gogh for her ransom.

During this time, Jan-Michael Vincent's career and personal life were just beginning to crumble. Having done B grade films like Hit List and Xtro 2, his drunken performances, though amusing and funny, killed what could have been great films....at least for Hit List. Nothing could save Xtro 2. His performance is The Final Heist was terrific.

His wasted talent in the late 80s and early 90s is revived here. He looked youthful and was energetic. His scenes with Gabrielle Lazure were great and they play well off each other. The Final Heist is a very stylish thriller beautifully shot with rich use of color. Everything and everyone looks great. Even the feel of the movie. It didn't feel like it was made-for-TV.

You won't find this movie on DVD and is almost just as hard to find on VHS. However, if you look on youtube, you'll get lucky. If you're a JMV fan. Check this one out. You won't be disappointed!

Midnight Run for Your Life (1994 TV Movie)
6/10
As good as the original, but way too similar.
13 January 2007
"Midnight Run for Your Life" is the third and last "Midnight Run" adventure in a series of television movies. Christopher McDonald gives a great performance as Jack Walsh.

Chris McDonald gives Jack Walsh a new image than Robert De Niro. There's a lot of yelling and frustration, also he brings a little brain-less effect that gets him into trouble.

The movie focuses on Lorna Bellstratten (Melora Walters) who is a waitress that has a dream in show business. She is dating a Hollwood producer, Micheal Vega, who is really a drug-dealer and uses her to drop a bomb.

Lorna is on the run when the cops chase after her. She flees to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico where she hires a hit-man to kill her. This mission differs A LOT from the other movies. Lorna's father hired Eddie and Jack with the price of $10,000. Eddie wants to split the price 50/50 with Jack if he can track her down and bring her back to LA alive before anyone else gets to her.

But, there is no Marvin Dorfler to sabotage Walsh's efforts in this movie.

Walsh gets into a bigger problem when he reaches San Cabo Lucas. Vega sent his stupid henchmen, Hector and Benny, who are a lot like Joey and Tony from "Midnight Run", to chase after Walsh to find Lorna. The cops are also after her and so is the hit-man.

The story becomes more serious by the end of the movie. Also dramatic, when it ends on a beach. The script was written by Shaun Cassidy. The funny scenes are in the beginning and serious, closer to the end.

The movie features a more mellower Jack Walsh when he falls in love with Lorna("Jack...would you kiss me?"). A likeness of Walsh we haven't seen before, As for the music: it is way to silly to fit with the story. It didn't compliment the film like the first "Midnight Run." You won't find much information on this or any other "Midnight Run: Action Pack" movie. I was able to find a copy from a British video store. You might be able to find a bootleg somewhere...

All in all, this is a great movie.
