Living in NYC I often wondered the dynamic between the nannies I'd see of color pushing around strollers of what I'd assume to be wealthy little white kids. It's not indictment on the parents. They are busy professionals that it turns out don't have time to hang out with their kid. So someone like Sylvia was a major part of their lives without them knowing how deeply her influence was on their own son. Clearly the white guilt theme is running rampant here, but it was so funny.

Less Comedic take on Dead Set. It does it's own thing.

One of the takeaways from this show that was interesting was it seemed like two seasons rolled into one. The characters in the second half are no one you followed in the first half whether you liked them or not. It's a little jarring but way more economical than the 100 seasons of crap shows like the Walking Dead with no end in sight.

Black Mirror: Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too (2019) Season 5, Episode 3

A Humorous Episode but Still on Point

I felt like this episode salvaged the short season. Yes, it's not the typical super dark cynical version of Black Mirror. It still seemed to follow that similar strain of meta satire by actually casting a child actor/pop star playing a variation of themselves. The frightening near future tech is on point. There are actually people showing up at concerts these days watching a virtual anime character on stage. Imagine mining a reluctant star's mind in a coma to make future hits. It's like when people didn't think Tupac was really dead because he kept releasing new music.

If this was a tv series, might have had potential.

The pacing is slow as hell. I could imagine with the cast this could have been your mediocre USA Network type show like Psyche or oddly enough Burn Notice. It's not really good, but I would love to hear like director commentary on how this came about. It would give some insight into something that it seems most people have never heard about but has so many famous cast members.

I've only watched a couple episodes, but it is so dead on so far from my experience. Set in 2000, I would have been the older brother. My sister is literally named Maya, was into Sylvanian animals, etc. She once cut her hair stupid and I laughed and my mom cut it into an embarrassing way. my ojiichan died some years before but we were told he would watch over us at all times. So yeah, masturbating? Is he judging us? It's so wild to see such a specific character I can relate to that I have never seen in any tv show or movie.

So you have a hitman so incompetent he needs the cover of Halloween to pass his very public corpse carrying BS to fool people it's all part of a gag. So funny! He can't even pull that off without killing a bunch of other people. This is beyond lame. Please, don't watch this. You will regret it unless you're some masochist.

Someone must hate the filmmaker because there is no reason this short film should have an average of 2.0. Granted, it's a ridiculous marriage proposal but I think a lot of people can relate to some unrequited love in their life at some point. Phoebe, without even saying anything, does a great job of reflecting all those emotions.

Definitely Room for Improvement

There's something that is missing in this show that I can't quite pinpoint. THE MICK has definitely filled the void of not having IT'S ALWAYS SUNNY around by basically replicating the same template of having a handful of repugnant characters playing off each other.

This show is like Dennis being a douche with no equals to counter his awfulness. At times it just gets annoying how his character just keeps bragging about having a PhD from Harvard. The supporting characters come across as kind of weak. Patton Oswalt is a good foil to Howerton, but I don't think they've done enough with that yet. So far the students in his class, instead of all having kinds of personalities, for the most part come across as one blob of two dimensional uninteresting characters. Same thing can be said of the trio of teachers he's befriended. There's some differences reflected in the dialogue, but they feel one and the same.

PARKS & RECREATIONS took a while to get grounded and I fill like this show is still trying to find its footing.
