"Season Two: Episode Four" (#2.4)

As I re-watch ABC's American Crime on Hulu, it again occurred to me why this show did not last on ABC. Had this been an HBO original, I believe it would still be running today. It's true - ABC pushed the bounds of what could be shown on network television. This show was too heavy for its targeted audience on ABC, and therefore did not last. The directing style, the acting, the writing - it was all uncharacteristic of ABC, but that doesn't make it a bad show by any means. It was just at the wrong place at the wrong time.

This episode is truly hard to watch. The opening poem is perhaps the most poignant writing found in this entire series. It was like watching for the first time. I found myself glued to the television, in disbelief of what I was hearing. I have never heard such a painfully true representation of sexual assault. The delivery of this speech was impeccable. It only made it that much more painful to hear.

The overwhelming nature of American society holds the sentiment that males cannot be sexually assaulted, and this a view held at large.

This leads to my next point . . . Corruption. It is everywhere in season two of "American Crime." The exchange between Leslie and Dan . . . The correspondence between Leland's legal counsel and administrative faculty . . .

Eric grappling with the reality of his actions. The interaction with his father and his fight with his brother. The fear in his eyes when he succumbs to his suicidal ideations, and makes an attempt by overdose. The disgust in Coach Dan's eyes when he realizes that the event was premeditated.

The Leland administrative board speaking about the event with such disdain after learning that the event was premeditated, but not without knowing all of the details first, despite already carrying so much doubt about the accusations made against Eric.

There is so much about this episode that hits close to home. It goes to show that this show focuses not on the crime itself, but how everything unravels in the wake crime.

I give "American Crime" #2.4 a 9.7/10.

Black-ish: Mother Nature (2017) Season 4, Episode 2

This was such an important episode. It really was.

It's hard to choose a favorite character from this episode.

I really sympathized with Rainbow, but Jr. was also a favorite! Stepping up to the plate!

Then there was Diane writing the letters! And Pops having a tough time with the locks!

It was just a good episode all around. I loved it.

This was one of the best episodes of the show due to its honesty. It was truly beautiful. Thank you to the writes for representing such an important story.

I give "Mother Nature" an 8.9/10.

Black-ish: Blue Valentime (2018) Season 4, Episode 21

Phew. I'm not ok right now.

This was so tough to watch. I love Dre and Bo together, and it's so hard to watch them at odds. I'm pulling for them both to make amends.

I would sometimes think Bo was too good for Dre, but I always thought they made such a great family together. These two deserve so much happiness. I hope they work it out. Bo especially has been breaking my already fragile heart this season. This was especially true in episode #4.2. She's such a strong wife and mother.

I really credit the writers for taking on a more serious tone. This show has always dealt with more serious issues with such grace and candor, and everytime they do it, they get better at it. I think this just further proves it because they took it one step further and it brings the show to a whole other level.

I love Coldplay, too, so they just made two songs even more emotionally draining for me. The use of the songs was very effective. They were perfect choices because Coldplay made it even harder to watch.

I also want to congratulate the person who directed this beautiful episode. The way they reflected the conflict in changes in lighting and color was very well done.

This show is so good. It outdoes so many others in its genre time and time again. This episode was especially very well done. I'm so wowed with this episode. It was honest, true, and raw. It's not something you find in shows like these.

I give "Blue Valentime" a 9.0/10.

Rise: The Petition (2018) Season 1, Episode 8

Decent episode.

Loved seeing Michael & Sasha. They really do have a nice friendship.

The argument between Simon's parents was really tough to watch. I believe the same could be said for the argument between Lilette and her mother too. I'm starting to think every family on this show is broken. Wait. No. Scratch that. I'm starting to think this is how real life is. And I really appreciate how "Rise" is trying to depict that. Most of the time, it works. In these two examples, it definitely did.

Loved Robbie introducing hos mom to Mr. M. It was touching!

Last week, Gail told Maashous that he was part of the family. Now it already feels like he isn't. I really hope he can work it out with his mom.

I will be very surprised if Tracey takes the job only so she can have her prized position again, but I could be completely wrong. To say the least, I do expect it to be a source of conflict. It will be interesting to see how it unfolds.

I was a little bored with the whole storyline with the video being released, but I'm glad that, despite the synopsis, it wasn't the only thing this episode focused on. Furthermore, it felt like a "C-storyline" at best.

My only other complaint is that this episode was kind of disappointing in regards to developing Jeremy / Simon / Simon's "ex." I thought in the previous epiaode, we got a really nice balance, but here, it seemed to sacrifice some storylines just to develop others. We're almost at the end of the season -- here's why I find this problematic: I fear that some storylines are going to get a more complete ending, whereas others won't. I really hope this isn't the case.

I give "The Petition" a 6.1/10.

Station 19: Let It Burn (2018) Season 1, Episode 7

Wow! It's about time we get an excellent episode. I loved it. It was SO GOOD.

I absolutely ADORED the Grant / Travis storyline. OMG so sweet, you guys!

The main event at the strip mall was intense. Finally an interesting storyline there. I haven't been too engaged in the stories with this show, but if they keep it like this, it would be great. Because this shows promise now. And honestly, it's about time.

Enjoyed the storyline with Andy and her father also. Loved seeing Dr. Bailey.

I finally have more than one reason to watch this show. And that's what I have been looking for ever since it started -- another reason to watch besides Ben.

Nice work to the writers and actors.

I give "Let It Burn" a 7.3/10.

ER: Love's Labor Lost (1995) Season 1, Episode 19

This was one of the best episodes this season.

Great to focus on the story of one patient and it was so heartbreaking. A catalog of errors both in the OB-GYN team who seemed to offload the patient despite major complications in the pregnancy, but also with the relaxed overconfidence of the E.R. team until it all went dreadfully wrong.

I feel very sorry for Mark as I think this could be the case that stands in his way for E.R. attending next year.

Colleen Flynn who played the child's mother got nominated for a primetime Emmy for this episode. And she really deserved it.

Just an unbelievable episode. Wow. I really loved it.

I give "Love's Labor Lost" a 9.6/10.

House M.D.: Wilson's Heart (2008) Season 4, Episode 16

This episode ruined me. And so did the previous.

People say House doesn't care, and while he may hide behind wise cracks and criticisms and while he may use them as a "wall around the heart," that doesn't mean he doesn't care. He does. A lot. That might even mean he cares more than most.

In fact, he cares so much he would sacrifice his LIFE, and yet I still believe his friendship with Wilson will be the price to pay. While I acknowledge Wilson's feelings, I must also say that it is vital for Wilson to see how much House truly cares. He asked so much of House, it's only fair that he could at least see that this hurts him, too.

The use of flashbacks could have easily been a mess, but it wasn't. It was clever and only added to the powerful nature of this episode, as it helped piece the details together like House did. At times, we felt frustrated and perplexed, just like House did. It was emotionally taxing and draining, just as it should have been. It was powerful and a true work of art.

On other news, I cried, I was on the edge of my seat, and I was moved. This was one of television's best episodes. It was heartbreaking, really. This one will certainly forever hold a special place in my heart. I am amazed.

I give "Wilson's Heart" a 9.9/10.

Rise: We've All Got Our Junk (2018) Season 1, Episode 5

I'm also glad to see Vanessa standing up for herself. It's so great to see because it's a very real issue. I can appreciate this show representing this issue in society. This was likely the episode highlight.

I'm glad to see Simon's mom standing up for him.

I'm glad Simon came back. He's no doubt my favorite. Also loved that little moment between him and Jeremy at the end. They're so sweet.

Not at all invested in Tracey's storyline. To me, her character is one-dimensional.

Disappointed about not seeing much of Michael. Same thing with Maashous. I need to know more about these two! Like. Now. I've had enough of the whole Lilette/Robbie storyline. Let's move on now to the more dynamic characters. Thank you.

All in all, I guess it was good. I give "We've All Got Our Junk" a 7.4/10.

Grey's Anatomy: Beautiful Dreamer (2018) Season 14, Episode 19

Good episode.

I only fall in love with Meredith more and more. She is so wise and kind and truly concerned about the people around her. As we know, she has experienced more grief than most would deem fair, but I think it's only made her a better person.

It's sad that we have to say goodbye to yet another character this season. We lost Riggs and Sam and we all know April and Arizona are leaving. The amount of characters this show sheds is appalling. I know it's how it works in a hospital environment, but let's be honest: it's a little crazy. I've learned my lesson and that is not to get too attached to characters. It usually doesn't last.

On the other hand, despite me actually starting to *kind of* like Sam, it's at least good to know she'll be working next to Yang. I was so happy when I heard her name mentioned. And can we take a moment to appreciate that parallel with DeLuca/Sam and Cristina/Mer? One thing I continually love with this show: parallels. It's, at times, heartbreaking. And this was one of those times.

I give "Beautiful Dreamer" an 8.9/10.

Rise: This Will God Willing Get Better (2018) Season 1, Episode 7

Let's start by getting this out of the way: This was definitely the best episode yet, and I don't think I'm being too bold in saying that. This show finally found a perfect balance with their characters. Let's hope it stays that way. It has been a serious issue thus far.

We got a lovely story with Maashous. I teared up when Gordy's mom told him he's part if their family. That definitely was powerful.

We also got to see Michael, which is great because he hasn't been developed all that well until this episode, which took it the one necessary step further. I appreciate the storyline with Michael so much. It confronts the story with honesty and it's truly beautiful.

We also got more development with Simon and Jeremy's story, which is great considering last week was a huge disappointment in that department.

Loved that we got to see more of Lou also! I'm not at all surprised by Gordy not putting forth his best effort in rehabilitation, though. It's quite obvious and I'm also not buying that this information surprises Lou and Gail.

Thank goodness it wasn't just all Lillette and Robbie again because it was getting to be way too much for me.

The only thing I didn't like in this episode was Vanessa's tired and dual storyline. We've seen it so many times. It was nice that we got to see her stand up for herself in a few episodes back, but now we've resorted back to this boring cliché storyline.

Again, best episode yet. I am so happy that this show is finally finding a balance. Let's hope it stays that way.

"This Will God Willing Get Better" gets an 8.4/10 from me.

Grey's Anatomy: Bad Reputation (2018) Season 14, Episode 21

Pretty good episode. I enjoyed it.

It was so funny to see Olivia! She was very bold to day all that in front of Jo, but it was funny and definitely was interesting to see how it through Alex and Jo for a loop. I really wish Olivia would be back for more episodes as a recurring character just for the sake of witnessing these priceless interactions again. It was very entertaining.

I loved Amelia's storyline. I adored her in "Private Practice," so I always love when they reference her past story. This was one of those times.

Meredith was also great in this episode as per usual. She is so perfect! Ugh!

I enjoyed the overarching storyline with Harper Avery. It was really well-written. I appreciate the great storytelling and giving a very important story for us to watch.

I look forward to see what's going to happen with Alex when he goes to visit his mom on next week's episode.

I give "Bad Reputation" an 8.4/10.

The Goldbergs (2013–2023)

The Goldbergs: An Amusing Trip Down Memory Lane!

A middle class family set in the '80s. Ah, what a breath of fresh air!

"The Goldbergs" is one of my favorite sitcoms to this day. It's a great show to watch with your family or on your own. Though it's not entirely original in the sense that a lot of the episodes are remakes of social trends in the '80s, it's great for the purpose of nostalgia and for the sake of laughing until you cry.

The best part is that this show is based off the real lives of The Goldberg family, which leads me to another thing that I love about "The Goldbergs" . . . the old home footage! I love these little snippets they show at the end of each episode. It's cool to think the shenanigans and nonsensical fun actions we watch on the television were things that actually happened within the Goldberg family in the '80s!

I absolutely love Beverly and her overprotective mom personality. She's definitely a stand-out, as is Adam, as it's all in his perspective . . . But, now that I speak of characters, I have come to realize that I really love all the characters! They all have BIG and special personalities. If you don't love one, there's certainly another for you to love!

The later seasons are certainly losing their magic touch, but it's still worth a watch. The biggest problem is that some of the recent episodes feel a little derivative and formulaic (i.e., someone argues over something, they make up, they move on). The show started on the complete other end of the spectrum (in that it wasn't tediously formulaic), which was something that I especially enjoyed about the show, because when it started, it had ambition that was reminiscent of community. Needless to say that I will continue watching until the show concludes, because here, the good far outweighs the bad.

I really hope that more people can discover this show for the gem that it is. I find it underwatched and underrated. It deserves more praise, and I know as a fact that I am not the only one who thinks so! :o)

Even those who did not grow up in the '80s can find something to enjoy in this series. However, I will say, I think for those who did grow up in the era, this show will bring them back to their childhood, and I think they will love that. Watching it for the sake of nostalgia could be fun enough!

In short, this is a cute show with various '80s references. The family is cute and they'll make you laugh. It's colores, it's dynamic, and it's touching. There is a lot to love!

Don't let me speak for you, though! Give the show a try for yourself! Seriously, if you're not watching yet, what are you waiting for?! :o)

I give "The Goldbergs" an 8.3/10.

American Housewife (2016–2021)

American Housewife: Certainly Not as Good as Other Comedies Out There, But It Does What It's Supposed To--Make Me Laugh!

Let's get one thing out of the way: "American Housewife" certainly isn't the best comedy out there, especially when compared to other ABC comedies.

That said, it isn't bad. It's just . . . ok! It makes me laugh, which is what I set out to do when I watch a show like this.

What I do like is how it keeps it real, which is funny to see! It's fun and quirky but the characters also feel like ordinary people you'll see and encounter in day-to-day life. The basic storyline alone is relatable, and if that's what people are looking for, I don't think they'll be disappointed here.

The funny thing is, actually, it's normal people trying to assimilate in a richer, higher class, which can make the situation even more relatable and enjoyable for middle-class people, which will most likely be those who are watching this . . . like me! They stumble their way through the community, and it's quite fun to see what comes of it -- the funny remarks about those who are richer and, as what will be seen as here, maybe even "snobby."

The thing is, though, when compared to other comedies out there, something is just missing here. I'm not sure what the missing puzzle exactly is, but it's something that's much easier for other shows. Perhaps it's because this story has been done before and maybe even done better. But that's okay. The bigger picture: the show works! It makes me laugh.

All in all, it's quirky, it's relatable, it's funny. It does the trick. I give "American Housewife" a 7.3/10.

Rise: Bring Me Stanton (2018) Season 1, Episode 6

Ok! Here's the problem. I like this show, but time and time again it disappoints with LGBTQ+ storylines -- especially given how much they promote them. Why have them if they're not going to get as much attention as the others?! We got plenty of Lilette and Robbie. Again. But what else is new there.

Overall, good episode, I guess. They shoved Simon and Jeremy in the background, though, and that's what I mean about the LGBTQ+ storylines. They got one scene -- ONE SCENE -- despite how much the promo hyped it up. Kind of disappointing, really.

Good to see Michael, though. I want to see more of his storyline continued because we haven't yet. At first, I loved the gentle way they were developing the Michael story. They weren't making it a loud, in your face story because it's not. This is life, every day. When he got his little victory of changing in the men's room, I cried and celebrated right along with him. But, since then, nothing has really happened with his story.

Simon is so torn between what he is feeling and what he's been indoctrinated with his entire life. Obviously, the club is giving him the opportunity to finally explore the feelings he's always had, but I'm sad that he felt like he couldn't do the study night/"date" with Jeremy so he asked Annabelle out instead. In the end hearts will be hurt. I hope he can gain confidence and grow comfortable in his own skin.

The ending was great. Glad they got their set! The only problem, though, is stories are getting more attention than others. I still have the same questions I did when I started watching this show, which shouldn't be.

I give "Bring Me Stanton" a 7.2/10.

Killing Eve (2018–2022)

Killing Eve: A Satisfying, Oddly Hilarious Thriller

WOW! Wow, wow, wow! You guys are definitely going to want to give this show a try! It's so intriguing, refreshing, engaging, and oddly / darkly humorous. This series shows a lot of promise and I really hope it stays on this track, because if it does, it will definitely become a favorite.

Now that we have my initial impressions out of the way, here's what I will say:

I am so impressed with this show. I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting to like it, but, boy, does this first episode impress. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Something about this show has me oddly hooked Something about it leaves me wanting MORE! I love the music choices, the acting is superb, and so is the directing. All excellent.

Another thing: this show has some odd sense of humor and I LOVE it! I found myself laughing, and that was the last thing I expected.

Several times, I thought to myself: OMG why am I laughing at this right now? I'm a terrible human being!

Perhaps the best part of this is show's cast is seeing that Sandra Oh finally got the role she deserves. She kills all of her scenes -- just like everyone else -- but it's clear to see she sticks out from the rest of the cast. -I was so happy when she appeared on one my most favorite shows last year, "American Crime," but her appearance was less than a guest appearance. (I bet that was due to the budget cuts and reduced season length, which ultimately led to season 3's different set up that many hated but I personally loved.) For that reason, though, I was disappointed in not seeing her as much, but she still amazed me and did so great with Regina King. I've been missing "American Crime" so much, and I think this show can fill that void in some aspects. Oh is just amazing.

Speaking of Oh, I started watching this solely because she's in it. And I am so pleased it's actually an awesome show.

I'll surely be sticking around for this one. I'm even happier to know that there will be a season 2 because I'm interested in seeing where this is going.

I give "Killing Eve" an 8.5/10.

Station 19 (2018–2024)

Station 19: Let's Be Honest . . . It's Not Very Good

At first, here is what came to my mind: I just don't know about this show. It's a whole lot of potential but that's it. That's all. There's never more than that. Too much sex and not enough action, which wasn't what I was expecting. Both can be there, but there needs to be a balance of some sort.

And now, it's confirmed the only reason I am even bothering with this show is because Ben Warren is in it, as well as Miranda Bailey. At first, Ben was reason enough to keep watching, but now that we're more than halfway through the season, it's getting ridiculous. If Ben wasn't in this, I honestly think I'd steer clear and avoid it like the plague.

Before anything, I need to say this: the flashes that are shown before almost every commercial break are HIGHLY ridiculous and unnecessary and serve no purpose at all except to spoil everything before it happens. There is no point in watching if they're only going to show you everything before it happens. It's very, very frustrating, and it's reason enough for me to turn the show off. Each of these flash sequences get a frustrated groan and huge eyeroll from me.

Also, I'm not at all invested in the main characters because they really don't have much depth. I credit and praise Shondaland for representing strong, powerful women, but you won't be getting much of that here. Instead, the main character, Andy, is whiny and annoying. I don't have any problem at all with her being sexually free, but it's a bit too much for me. It can't just be about her sex life. I'm waiting to see more with Andy besides her father being sick and her becoming captain. It's ALL just a bit tired.

Next thing: the acting is honestly horrible. And so is the writing. I have never been so bored watching a television show. Ever. The stories just aren't there.

The only reason I am still watching is in hopes of it getting better. I'm going to finish the season and decide if I'll continue watching, should there be a second season. As of now, I am not at all invested in the characters or the story. If the show doesn't at least find its footing by the finale, I am definitely out of here.

I don't religiously follow "Chicago Fire," but what I can say is there is absolutely no competition between the two. NBC has nothing to worry about, because even after years, "Chicago Fire" is still better than this.

This show is just meh, meh, meh. There is nothing really good here. Just a lot of meh. The only thing I really truly like about this show is its connection to "Grey's Anatomy," and even saying that is a stretch.

I give "Station 19" a 5.2/10.

When We Rise (2017)

When We Rise: A Heartful History Lesson That Shines Light on Important Gay Rights Stories

There's so much to be said for this mini-series.

This mini-series is important. These topics are important. History is important. Equal rights are important. I had tears in my eyes throughout the whole show. This mini-series is absolutely stunning and powerful. Thank goodness we finally found a series that bypasses, destroys, and cancels the classic gay clichés aimed at simple relationships. Here, the largest one true pairing is between humans and justice.

This show is so human, addressing several important issues that must be discussed in society, like the rights of women, gays, straights, blacks, whites, and civilians. What a spectacular show.

This is so important for everyone to understand the battles that were fought to achieve the rights and freedom LGBTQ+ individuals have today, especially when it seems the hands of time are going in reverse as of right. Those who came before us fought to obtain these rights; now it's our turn to fight to keep those rights.

It takes a dose of courage, awareness, hope, and despair to enter the fight as do the heroes of this story. It can start with little things, every day, under any circumstances, to lead up to these moments. But little things put together, multiplied by a crowd of people, can do a lot. The show tells us 40 years of the struggle of the LGBT movement in 4 episodes. As a result, the shortcuts made are sometimes felt, but the crossed destinies of this handful of activists, and their struggle for a more just world, more than make us forget some flaws.

Many emotions and anger await you if you let yourself be tempted. You can expect shivers of emotion all over your body. A lot said with very few words with amazing music. It's a great chance to learn more about movements that changed the world.

Now it's time for some truth talk that this series will also cover:

No one gets to tell another person who they can love. Love is free but freedom to love seems to come with a price. Encourage your friends and family, gay or straight to watch this mini-series. It should be watched with eyes full of respect. Respect for all those people who died fighting for even a shred of equal rights. Rights that everyone should have, without discrimination of sex, race, or color. We are all human beings. That's the lesson here.

It's appalling that this story still holds relevance today. And to say that still today, LGBTQ+ individuals still have to face this violence. The society regresses in a sense, as if all this had been for nothing. There are still those who banish gays, those who mock those of color, those who refuse immigration, those who run missiles against nations to get their own dominion, those who fight for religious ideals, those who are fanatical and those who are anarchists. I'm glad there's this mini-series, because we have to open our eyes and we have to embrace the fact that people are different.

The important perspective this series will also confront is: For all homophobes, imagine if the world was reversed, and that the "normality" was to be gay, would you? Will you stumble your identity to fit into the "norm"? Imagine if "homophobia" (what a dreadful word) was replaced by "heterophobia", what would you do? It's cruel, is not it? There is no need to be gay to support the LGBTQ+ cause, just to be human.

Outside of my rant, I find the series well-built with a solid plot and good actors. The actors' performances are wonderful. Embodying the lives of the real life people who paved the way to the freedoms we have through the suffering of so many who did not live to see the victories.

I'd hate for people to miss this. I'll say it until I lose my voice: This show is VERY important. This is our history. We must remember it. Because all the people who have died just because of who they love. Because people still want to love in their own way without doing it in fear. Let it enter your heart and you will not regret it. Approach this series without prejudice, with the simple interest of informing you about important historical facts but in the form of mini-series. It will charm you. It's a beautiful representation of human diversity. It's sad how underrated this is.

Trial & Error (2017–2018)

Trial & Error: Quirky, Fun, Twisty-Turny, and Absolutely Freakin' Hilarious!

OMG!!! This show is so much fun.

I'm so looking forward to this show's return! It went on such a long hiatus. It's about time we have a date for season 2. Every episode was hilarious! I think "Trial & Error" definitely deserves a second season. I'm especially happy to hear Chenoweth is joining the cast! She's just great! She'll bring a whole new dynamic I think.

I watched the whole first season in one day because I was so hooked. The best part is I wasn't expecting to like it. I thought it'd be stupid and cheesy. Boy was I surprised! I was sooo very wrong because it's such a fun and smart comedy. It reminds me of "The Office" and of "Parks and Recreation." I so love these mockumentary style shows. With mentioning these, I do want to say that "Trial & Error" is different from these two in that it's a lot more about the people and their quirks than it is about a workplace.

Another thing that sets this show apart is the many plot twists and shocking moments, which to me feels very innovative; this is not just a sitcom, it's a serialized comedy.

Another unique factor is that there are some touches of dark comedy and absurdist humor that really give this show its own identity, which I absolutely adore.

So brilliantly cast because the cast does a very good job at delivering funny and heartfelt performances. I genuinely laughed a lot. I mean, Jayma Mays may be the weakest link and that is saying A LOT to me because she's great!

There's more than enough potential for this show to go on. Considering the executive producer wishes to make 7 seasons of this show, and I'm totally up for watching them all if they stay this much fun, remain this witty, and uphold this quality.

Oh, and, just for the record: Anne is my favorite! She freakin' rocks. I lose it every time she's on the screen. Ugh. Just love her!

If you haven't been watching this show you're totally missing out on something so funny, smart, and refreshing. You'll find yourself laughing so hard you cry. It's absolutely worth a watch, so what are you waiting for? :o)

Atypical (2017–2021)

Atypical: Heartwarming, Funny, Cute, and Insightful

I love this show so much. I think it's such a beautiful representation of people with autism. I've never watched anything like it, and the creators deserve recognition for their work! More and more television feels like cinema, but television has the capacity to allow you to connect with and develop a relationship with the characters. "Atypical" is a great example of this.

I love how Sam is trying to assimilate and just gain acceptance. It's an excellent story. (More on characters soon.)

I can't entirely argue whether or not the representation of autism is realistic or not, but it certainly is interesting and touching.

There aren't any stand-out actors, but they still do a great job with the material they are given. The characters are well-designed, though. Especially Sam. I absolutely love him to pieces and adore his character. The best part about the characters is that we get to see the different perspectives of the characters who deal with Sam and his autism.

The best thing is this show is funny, intelligent, and it has a nice touch of drama. It's just the right amount of drama -- not extreme -- which I love, love, love!

Also, the music is AWESOME! I have a playlist saved with all the music from the show. :o)

This show instantly became one of my favorites, due to its wit, its insight, and overall lighthearted, positive nature. (I'm not saying you won't cry at times, because I sure did.)

I would totally recommend. Seriously. You need to watch this series. I think it's so very important that we see stories about autism on our television. Plus the first season only has 8 30-minute episodes, so what are you waiting for?!

I'll patiently wait for season 2 to come. :o) I'm sure it'll be just as good if it is anything like the first. A show with this quality needs to be shared with the world.

The Sinner: A Thrilling Mystery That Connects the Dots Slowly . . . But Surely

Anyone who gives this show a shot can feel free joining me in blaring "Huggin & Kissin" by Big Black Delta. This song is sooo amazing, given the context. It gives me so many feelings, and thanks to this show, I discovered music that I didn't even knew I enjoyed. This show has great music for each of its moments. I say that often, but this is especially true. It will haunt you.

"The Sinner" is a true gem of a mini-series. When a seemingly ordinary woman murders a man on a beach for apparently no reason, time shows that it's not as simple as it seems.

The question here isn't who, how, when, or where . . . it's why. Why did she kill that man? What were her motives? Why does she claim she doesn't remember?

Jessica Biel, who portrays the character of Cora, will not disappoint. This is a riveting story that almost anyone can get into. This isn't your typical crime / police procedural drama. This series is more concerned about the effects of a crime and the story behind it, which makes it even more compelling.

This show is dark and gritty, and it should be. Biel does a superb job of contributing to that nature also.

Generally speaking, the best part of this show, aside from all mentioned, is that it has the ability to keep the story interesting over the course of 8 episodes. The season definitely could have thrived on 6 episodes, and it might have even made the story more tightly focused and even stronger, but given what we get, this is more than enough to leave a lasting impression.

This show is interesting and intriguing. It really is. Give it a shot! You might get attached!

AMAZING finale! AMAZING performances! Just breathtaking and really got my heart beating out of my chest. This season finale truly was spectacular. It was the moment that everyone was waiting for. I, like quite a few others, watched this whole season in one long, but enjoyable night. It was so worth it. This was the pay-off.

I mean, just, . . . no words. I absolutely was NOT expecting that. I'm so impressed! I am interested in seeing where season 2 will go, especially since this was initially a limited series.

Another thing here that I absolutely loved is women sticking together and women supporting women! We need more shows like this.

I hope that season 2 can uphold the first season's quality because I am just amazed. Bravo to all. My only worry is that . . . how are they going to follow this excellent season?!

Television is SO GOOD anymore, I tell ya! My list of favorites is getting quite long, but this one will always and forever have a special place in my heart and on my list of favorites.

I give "You Get What You Need" a 9.9/10.

And the Emmy for The Best Limited Series goes to . . . Big Little Lies!

I am so amazed with this show. It really is one of the best limited series out there. Absolutely amazing soundtrack, cast, storyline, and acting. This is exactly the show I didn't realize I needed. I can't thank HBO enough for the excellent storytelling here.

I am so happy that there is finally a series that can showcase Reese Witherspoon's talent, as well as everybody else's.

I was definitely surprised with Adam Scott's role. I didn't expect to enjoy it, but he did great.

Nicole Kidman is just absolutely fantastic! She is by far my favorite character. I am so attached. She is so strong and powerful and I am so glad that they get to represent her story and bring to light what happens behind closed doors. It's a story that everyone needs to see.

Alexander Skarsgård does great in his role as Perry Wright. Why? Because I absolutely hate his character. That's how you know you're watching something powerful. The story with Perry and Celeste is so very important, I just can't say that enough. I found myself crying my way through their scenes. In that regard, this show held NO punches.

I recommend this show to everybody aching for some great drama and storytelling! I don't think you'll regret it. Not to mention that this show will give you some killer songs to add to your playlists!

I dare you to watch and not fall in love. There is so much to enjoy and so much to be said for a show like this. It deserves all the praise it gets.

I give "Big Little Lies" an 8.9/10.

American Crime Story (2016– )

American Crime Story: Compelling and Worth the Time

Let me start by saying that I absolutely love this show. It's intense beyond belief. It's riveting. It's powerful.

Now let me say this: It's already obvious that this show's quality will largely depend on which season you are watching. Season 1 was darn near perfect. Season 2 was good, but not even close to how good Season 1 was.

In short, I say this television show is very much worth your time. Even if you just watch select seasons that interest you. I will also say that Season 1 is definitely must-watch television.

Given this IS an anthology series, you could totally get away with watching only the seasons that interest you, especially since it's clear that the quality largely will depend on the story.

Even if you aren't familiar with the cases, it's still excellent television. For much of the time, it will keep you on the edge of your seat. I can guarantee it.

If you are familiar with the case, but don't exactly see the sense in watching a something and already knowing how it ends, I say give it a try. You might be surprised. I was hesitant at first, but I was pleasantly surprised -- just like you might be! You won't know unless you try.

As a whole, I give "American Crime Story" an 8.5/10.

American Crime Story: Alone (2018) Season 2, Episode 9

To anyone reading this before starting season 2: start from the finale and work your way to the premiere. It might sound weird to do right now, but it will make so much more sense if you do this. Why? Because it will actually (and almost completely) be in chronological order. Just like it should have been.

I'm going to be honest: Season 2 was plain disappointing. It wasn't even close to how excellent season 1 was. It can't touch it. In short, this season pales in comparison to season 1.

Now that I've got that out of the way, allow to say that I still enjoyed season 2. It was good, but that's about it. It never really was great, besides a few moments here and there. The format was downright strange, clunky, and pointless and totally defeated the show's purpose, which was to illustrate the events as they happened in the real world. It held the story back from thriving, but despite that, it still wouldn't come close to the quality of season 1.

I will also say that the acting was superb. That was one of the few reasons I continued watching, but it was reason enough. Darren Criss did great in his role, which is sign of a great actor -- one who can be believed in multiple roles.

The thing about that, though, is the focus on Darren Criss was almost a bit too much. We BARELY gained insight into the Versace family. And when we did, it came far too late.

At times, it felt like this season should have instead been entitled "The Murders of Andrew Cunanan" or "Andrew Cunanan is a Psychopath," just to more accurately depict what this season was REALLY focusing on. While I understand that, in order to make it about Versace, it needed to be about his killer, too, in a way to help establish context; however, sometimes I completely forgot that this was even about Versace because all we saw was all the awful Andrew C. committed over the years.

The season finale, on the other hand, was great. Darn near perfect, actually. It's clear they really tried to wrap everything up, and they certainly get credit for the effort at the very least. Despite the string of boring episodes, it was well worth a watch to see this ending. It didn't nearly get my heart racing as much as the season 1 finale did, though. But still good. Just like the rest of this season.

Season 2 rating: 7.3/10.

American Crime Story: The Verdict (2016) Season 1, Episode 10

OMG. That was so intense. I honestly don't think my heart has ever raced that fast before. The whole time, I was out of breath. The whole. Darn. Time.

I was familiar with the case and was well aware of the outcome, but that doesn't change the fact. I was so glued. So attached. This was such an intense episode -- so much so that I'm still trying to recover.

I felt like I was right there in the courtroom. I somehow felt like I was a part of this. I somehow felt like the verdict was going to somehow affect me personally, even though I knew full well that it in absolutely no way would. It felt like that, though. It really did. This sense of urgency was so palpable, it's almost hard to begin to fathom.

I watch a lot of television. It can be really hard to impress me. But not here. This was a masterpiece of all sorts.

The same could be said for much of season 1. I was thoroughly impressed with the powerful performances from everybody involved. Season 1 of "American Crime Story" deserves all the praise it gets. This is excellent television right here.

One thing that I enjoyed, aside from the amazing cinematography, directing, and acting, was the extreme attention to detail. Everything was so close to reality. It was like a mirror of the true story. The cast was no exception. I swear it was like I was actually there with them, watching history unfold in it's making.

Very, very well done. I really don't think my vocabulary is extensive enough to express how unbelievably amazed I am with the first season!

If I could give the episode a score of an 11, I would. It was that good.
