Ragini MMS (2011)
ridiculous
i don't mind bollywood movies based on Hollywood inspirations but this movie lifts entire scenes, not just the story lines, from paranormal activity 1 & 2 + blair witch project.... right down to the white undershirt and shorts worn by the girl in paranormal activity.
and oh yea, the score is from the fifth element -- the track "koolen." i'm not sure to what extent eric serra and producers of the English films can file a lawsuit against ekta kapoor but its something definitely to consider because this is just insane. you can't have people stealing your movies and music. if India wants to join the first world club like china then they HAVE to police their most visible and influential film industry -- bollywood at the moment is out of control with plagiarism.
Krrish (2006)
wow
i have seen some real trash in my life but this has got to take the cake here. Virtually no storyline to speak of, actors who act like they're acting, improbable and completely illogical premise... even for a Bollywood movie.
never mind that there are severe continuity issues involved here, throughout the film i failed to understand just the extent or nature of "Krrish"s superpowers. one minute he's running with a horse and by the end of the movie he's a combination between NEO and Flash where he's literally dodging bullets.
apologetics of Indian cinema want to point out the budget involved. first of all... crouching tiger hidden dragon had a budget of $15... roughly the same vicinity considering the Roshans didn't fork out that extra cash since this is a father/son venture (dad did the music as well). house of flying daggers, another masterpiece from the Chinese, is also cost around $10 million. in both cases the special effects as well as acting and the general ambiance of the movie are ABOVE and BEYOND krrish, the producers of whom seem to content in ripping off 6/7 year old movies like matrix or crouching tiger. cheap shows on the sci-fi channels are more thrilling to the eye.
but the special effects are not why i gave it such a low rating. for starters, Priyanka Chopra should quit movies altogether. she's a model and thats apparent. damn we miss the likes of Madhuri Dixit who were real actresses at the very least even if they didn't have the 34-24-36 figure. Hritik Roshan shows why his ilk, all the sons of former bollywood superstars, are no match for the khans. i hope all that waxing and steroids have paid off. personally though id prefer a Bachchan in a superhero role because at least they look nominally Indian. Naseeruddin shah is completely out of place. Rekha's talents are also wasted.
overall, i hope u guys don't fork out the $10 per ticket we have to here in America to watch this garbage.
