Somebody (2022)
Missed the mark
I love my Korean dramas & crime/mystery shows. Like, I LOVE them. So even though I wasn't 100% sold on this show from the trailer, I gave it a shot.
It's just so all over the place. It made no sense to me. The real mystery is who greenlit this show & who is their target audience??? Maybe for fans of AHS, where acting is strong but plots are weak. The serial killer is very hot, I'll give them that, but there was little to no info about any of the characters. What accident was Gi-eun in? How did she & the Mok-won meet? What was the point of Mok-won's sexual preference being thrown in? Was Sum using AI to bait Yun-o?
Idk. Tbh I'm not a prude & steamy sex scenes are great...but the story itself wasn't fully fleshed out, the characters lacked depth, & the plot was implausible.
I'll give it 3 stars because the actors were great. But that's where it ends for me. Skip it & watch Money Heist Korea or Flower of Evil or Bad and Crazy or any of the other dozens of K-dramas on Netflix.
Bigfoot (2018)
Horrible
This was horrible. My son insisted upon watching it and I couldn't even understand what I was watching. The movie cover looks nothing like the actual animation of the film. In fact, the animation looked like a bad computer game from the early 2000's. The characters don't move, they just stand there with their mouths unmoving but still speaking. It's creepy. Don't watch this!!!!!
All I Want for Christmas Is You (2017)
Cute, but there are much better family-friendly films out there.
I gave it two stars because I liked the mixed race family element; you don't see that a lot in tv and movies. Especially for children. Being of mixed race and being in an interracial marriage, I was happy to show my four-year-old son families like ours.
But I was confused why Mariah didn't look of mixed race at all, and why she had long straight blond hair when her siblings had curly brown hair. I feel like it was a nod to Mariah and her vanity, which has no place in a kids movie. Also, Mariah is irritating as a narrator.
Overall, it was cute enough but I hope my son doesn't ask to watch it again. We've watched The Santa Clause 3 three times in two days and I'd rather watch that a fourth time than watch this again.
