It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: Celebrity Booze: The Ultimate Cash Grab (2023)
This season so far...
Is quintessential Always Sunny! And this episode is no different. It was especially a treat for me because Break Bad is one of my favorite shows of all time as is Sunny, so the faux crossover was *chefs kiss* I have absolutely loved this season so far it's been the best in a while and feels like old Sunny whereas the last couple seasons felt forced. As is related to this episode in particular, the best part comes towards the end. Bryan is such an incredible actor, as is Aaron, and they manage to shine here even as guest stars. The part of the episode that I enjoyed the most I replayed multiple times over, it brought back memories in a way of times past. Anyway, so far so great! Enjoy this episode, you'll know which part I'm referring to when it happens lol!
Evil Dead Rise (2023)
A horror fan's dream
I have no idea what's wrong with the people saying that this movie is bad or even subpar haha only thing I can think is that they're not true horror fans or can't handle some gore.
Anyway, now that that's out of the way, this is one of the best horror movies I've ever seen. Don't get me wrong, this isn't 'Hereditary' or 'The Conjuring' level scary, but it's still very good. It's got a great mix of everything you'd want in a horror movie and doesn't necessarily fit into one sub-genre of horror-which I think is a good thing.
Sometimes when a horror movie is made and they tell a story and fit it within one specific tone, it can get stale. Once you get through the first 20-25 minutes of the movie which sets the stage for what's about to take place, the movie never lets up until the credits roll which I think makes for a great horror movie.
I didn't bother renting this movie, I spent the extra $5 and bought it. I figured if it was anything like the 2013 remake, which I've watched countless times, that I'd do the same with this adaptation. Honestly, this movie might actually be better than the 2013 movie.
So wait until it gets dark out, grab some snacks, turn off all of the lights, and put this movie on and see how well you sleep-just remember that the human shaped figure that you keep seeing in the shadows is just your mind playing tricks on you...hopefully.
The Last of Us: Long, Long Time (2023)
One of the best episodes of tv I've ever seen
I'm not sure how I'll fill this 600 word summary, tbh. Nick Offerman was absolutely phenomenal in this episode and just an overall great surprise. I was feeling pretty iffy about the show up until this episode but this one really got me hooked. My wife and I finished this episode last night and now I can't wait to get home and watch more. I've never played the video game. I do wonder what people's perspectives who've played the game are compared to the movie.
Anyway, this episode in particular really makes you realize just how precious life is, as odd as that sounds regarding a show like this. I won't spoil it, you just need to see it for yourself. The last ~15-20min I was dead silent and locked into it, it's very emotional and gripping. This episode alone made me realize how lucky I am to have my wife by my side through life, and that's all I'll say. Enjoy.
You (2018)
*THIS RATING IS SPECIFICALLY FOR SZN 4!*
'You' seasons 1-3 are amazing! Don't get me wrong, I love the show szn's 1-3, 10/10.
However...
Season 4 part 1 absolutely sucks. I'm giving it a 3 instead of a 1 simply because the acting is still stellar and the cinematography is still very good. Outside of that though, the story is trash. They've shied so far away from what seasons 1-3 brought to the table that it feels like a totally different show.
Idk if it's just the setting in general or what but it's not good. Everything about season 4 feels very forced and like they're just trying to grind out another season. It feels very thoughtless and doesn't really bring seasons 1-3 background with it, at least not very well. If you've never watched seasons 1-3 you could probably start watching season 4 and not really have many questions about what's going on, and that's a serious problem.
I'm not sure how another half of a season is going to make me feel any differently but so far, so *not* good. Oof.
Nope (2022)
So disappointing...
I love Jordan Peele's work so much-just not this time. To be completely fair, the only thing enjoyable about the movie is the cinematography. Unfortunately, besides the cinematography, the movie is so very much meh. The story is stupid, boring at best. I got half way thru last night and contemplated not watching the rest but forced myself to this morning and now here I am. 'Get Out' was a masterpiece, 'Us' was very good but not quite as good as 'Get Out', this was...bad. All you need to know is that you'll read the quote at the start of the movie and then watch it play out in the form of an alien life form for 2 hours. It's sucks bc when I found out sometime last year that JP had a new project in the world I was, naturally, thrilled given his previous work and how much I liked it. Unfortunately, I'll be waiting for his next project likely to come in another couple years and just be hoping that he gets back to the levels of 'Get Out' or 'Us'.
Tl;dr don't waste your time, it's not up to par with Get Out or Us at all.
X (2022)
7.1? Who's getting paid to write the reviews/rate the movie here?
Are y'all serious?? Maybe you could be generous and say 3/10 for acting and production and that's it. Story is a 1/10, at best. I just watched the sam predictable slasher movie I've seen 1000 times before, there was nothing different that stood out in this one-besides how slow it burned til the last 40 or so minutes. What kind of a joke are the ratings/reviews including the critics reviews? I usually love A24 movies but wtf??? Don't waste your time...wtf did I really just watch?
Midnight Mass (2021)
Not necessarily a horror but it is a very, very good show
For starters, the acting is incredible. There's not one person casted in this show that didn't give an incredible performance, however, Hamish Linklater who plays "Father Paul"--wow...just wow. I'll be shocked if this man doesn't win an award for his acting in this show, truly amazing.
As far as the story itself goes, I think if you come from a catholic background the story will be easier to understand. As others have said this show is more of a religion based horror, if you will, especially considering it revolves around a catholic priest. Do you have to be religious in order for the show to make sense? No. Does it help understand some aspects of it? Yes.
I'd call this show a thriller rather than a horror. Maybe even a Drama. Regardless of how you decide to classify it, the show will drag you in and keep a strong hold on you. It's the first show I've seen in a while where I couldn't wait to see what happened next, though I do feel that's kind of the trick with limited series-having things wrapped up quick tends to lead to continued excitement and provides a sense of "bingeworthiness".
Anyway, 10/10 easily for storytelling and acting alone regardless of plot line.
He's All That (2021)
GTFOH
Just bc you have millions of followers on tik tok doesn't mean you actually have talent. This movie shouldn't have been remade anyway but since it was, there are far better candidates for the job long before her. Pathetic.
Till Death (2021)
You can watch the same movie for free on Netflix, it's called "Gerald's Game"
How this movie ever made it into production, I'll never know. It's "Gerald's Game" with Megan Fox and I'm so mad I didn't realize that to begin with and paid to rent it. I'm a moron. Don't be make the same mistake, not worth it.
What Lies Below (2020)
People at Netflix should be fired, avoid at all costs!!
The title says most of it. There's no much else to say, this movie is the stuff of high school kids on a slightly higher budget. Whoever gave this the green light at Netflix legit needs fired. The acting is trash and the story is worse. Avoid at all costs, I repeat, avoid at all costs. I've seen some terrible movies before and this is right up there with them. I woulda never take the time to write a 1 star review if it wasnt actually that bad. DO. NOT. WASTE. YOUR. TIME!
Tone-Deaf (2019)
One of the worst movies I've ever seen
Don't waste your time. There's nothing about this movie that's worth seeing, it's boring at best. They tried to do over the top scenes on a dollar tree budget and it showed. Not sure what else to write, this movie was hot garbage and for real don't waste your time.
El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie (2019)
For those w/ negative reviews, what's your problem here?
I really don't get it. At all. Walt got what he deserved, unfortunately. I LOVED Walt until he started doing terrible things to people because at the beginning of the movie he was such a nice man, but he turned into a d bag who got killed and rightfully so. In Walt's journey to becoming a terrible person, he dragged down Jesse who wasn't the best in the beginning but he wasn't a bad kid, you could see he was just lost. Walt made him kill people and do a lot of stuff he didn't want to do. Why doesn't Jesse deserve a happy ending? The story tied up all the loose ends imo. Did Jesse deserve to rot in prison? Hell no! He was imprisoned by Walt while they were together and then again by the Nazi d bags quite literally. Idk what you people want.
Adam Devine: Best Time of Our Lives (2019)
To all the people giving bad reviews, you're dumb
That's pretty much it. This was easily one of the funniest standup specials I've ever seen. Adam is hilarious, his jokes are original, his delivery is solid, and he's super energetic. Sorry to the people who didn't like this that must just be miserable at a baseline.
Tyrel (2018)
They should change the plot description to "a movie about nothing"
I had high hopes based on the actors that are in this alone, however, I was let down. They list it as a comedy but there's no funny parts. They list it as a drama yet there's no substance. The movie has no direction whatsoever and no real story. It's not unnerving, it's not tense, it's literally nothing. I feel like was trolled for an hour and a half just waiting for the movie to finally start. This truly is a movie about nothing except for guys hanging out and drinking and doing things that no one would ever do. What a waste of time.
BuzzFeed Unsolved: Supernatural (2016)
Very entertaining, love the skeptic vs believer aspect!
I was bored and I saw this come up on my Hulu suggestions a couple times. I love Ghost Adventures so I thought, why not. The show gives a good history on the places but not overly so that it's too much. I love the back and forth between the friends, skeptic vs believer aspect of the show it gives a good balance and makes for some actually very funny situations. A lot of these places they go to I've seen investigated before but this show makes it a little less intense and easier to watch. There's no "OH MY GOD DID YOU HEAR THAT?!" "OH MY GOD I WAS TOUCHED, ITS FREEZING" etc. The show is what it is and investigates these places pretty objectively. Entertaining at the very least!
Dry Blood (2017)
Not sure who they paid to write good reviews but DO NOT TRUST THEM!
Listen, I've seen A LOT of terrible movies in my 29 years of life, but this one is right up there with the worst of them. It's a B movie at best, the acting is absolutely atrocious, the writing is a joke...I feel like Ashton Kutcher is about to pop out from somewhere and tell me that I've been Punk'd. I'm not going to bother going into the details of the movie beyond the fact that it's impossibky to follow, it makes zero sense, and it's utterly incompetent. I haven't written a review in about 8 years but I felt like I had to...Don't waste your time.
