Kath & Kim (2002)
All time fave !!
I can't pacifically tell you what it is about this show that makes me love it so much, but I will never get tired of it. So many classic quotes, hidden umah, famous faces - I find something new every toim I turn it on.
I can watch it ovah and ovah, it is my go to show whenever I need cheering up and in these dark times, that's a lot. Even my children love it and quote it all the time. Perfect show for all ages.
Thank you to everyone involved in creating this iconic show, the Australian poiple are forever grateful. An absolute Australian treasure, one for the time capsule.
Anyhoo. I am off to Fountaingate toot suite.
Heartbreak High (2022)
Loved it!
I am from the OG Heartbreak High generation so I went into this without expectation, and I can honestly say I was captivated from the minute the first ep started. I absolutely loved it. It was inclusive without being sanctimonious or disingenuous, the actors are so AMAZINGLY talented and represented their characters with such accuracy. I loved seeing familiar faces from the original series including the high school that it was filmed at. The storyline is also relative to the issues faced by Gen Z'ers today. I really hope we see a second season soon because I really enjoyed the first. Well done to all involved. It was brilliant.
Gavin & Stacey (2007)
Absolutely LOVE this show.
I have watched this show at least 25 times and I will never get tired of it. I love all of the characters, they all bring that something special but if I had to choose a favourite, it would be Ness. I love her loyalty to Stacey, her humour and how she is unapologetically herself! I wish I had a friend like Ness.
As much as I wish there were more seasons, I can understand why the creators didn't want to ruin a good thing. It ended at just the right time. I do hope that another Christmas special is released so we can find out what happens with Smithy and Ness though. That was a real cliff hanger.
Darby and Joan (2022)
Loved it.
This show is a breath of fresh air, filled to the brim with treasured Aussie actors and actresses. I really enjoyed Brian Brown and Greta Scachi's chemistry. It is an easy and entertaining watch, with stunning scenery. Highly recommend.
Senior Year (2022)
Romy and Michele meets Suddenly 30
Not going to lie, I went into this movie with low expectations but I was pleasantly surprised. It's lighthearted, has some welcome nostalgia for those of us that were a similar age in the late 90s early 00s. I even genuinely laughed at some of the jokes - even if some were cheesy.
It was a welcome distraction from all the heaviness in the world and it took me back to a time when things were a little happier. I really enjoyed it.
The Little Mermaid Live! (2019)
I feel like Howard Ashman would have hated it.
This remake just didn't translate. There is no question that there are a lot of talented performers in it, but the only one that hit the mark was Queen Latifah. I held off watching it for as long as I could because I knew that it would do the original an injustice - and I was right.
