Gasoline Alley (2022)
Wow, couldnt even make it through the whole showing.
Awful, awful, awful, awful. Run away from this total cliche of a dumpster fire.
Hollywood at its most formulamatic worst.
Not a single thing in the hour or so I watched of this piece of trash was enjoyable, interesting, original, or attention worthy.
Save yourself the trouble, avoid this one at all costs.
Criminal Minds (2005)
Wow, what a contest to see who is the most wooden actor of all-time !!!!
My wife watches this show and I tease her constantly about how amazingly poor the whole series is in every way. But its perhaps the wooden acting of almost all the characters, its almost as if there was some magic provided by the producers, because all these guys cannot really be this bad.
The worst actor of all-time award goes to Joe "blowhard" Magntegna, never has more wood been inserted into a fast talking maniac.
Second prize goes to everyone else, but a very special shoutout to all the dumb wigs and bad hair by almost everyone.
Its amazing how low people will go to make a buck.
Greenland (2020)
AMERICAN ELITISM AND A WHOPPING DOLLUP OF WHITE SUPREMACY.
Wow, a bunch of rich white dudes are selected to avoid an "extinction event" !
Its a white rich family versus everyone else to ride out the storm of impending disaster.
People who distain the rich for being saved are seen as the unsavory losers of society. Hollywood has an extreme bias towards the white upper middle class who are the only ones who ever deserve to be heros.
A total waste of space of a moving with a bunch of silly running around. But , guess who is saved in the end ??????
The Little Things (2021)
AMERICAN CINEMA IS A BUST.
Very sad state of affairs in American movie making exemplified by "The Little Things". By creating such an over-boiled script the creators have ruined a fine idea.
What is it with the endless over writing of scripts that makes decent actors sounds like clowns ? The movie has a fine cast, but each scene has to wring out so much tension and drama as to ruin the whole affair.
It does not help when you have a under average director with a body of work more suited for the small time and not the gigantic Hollywood machine. Its getting to the point that every US release has to be under total suspicion of mediocrity.
Oh well, garbage in , garbage out, enjoy your garbage.
Aniksha (2020)
Amazing Short.
Just saw this online at VIFF. The short has everything one would want in a short, hopes , dreams , lust, despair. Beautifal lead actress is stuck between the old and the new in charming Maurituis Island. Her life has the compexities of all modern life rife with exploitation and choices. Really enjoyed this artful progressive film.
Berlin Syndrome (2017)
saving grace of film is it is not a US formula portrayal.
In reading the public reviews I find that people come in two basic modes.
#1 the group that compare everything to Spiderman and mega-budget productions who can only note that the film is "slow" or "boring". Climb back into your action film guys and keep up the useless video game obsessions.
#2. the female perspective that fawns over the female performance.
I thought the film was strong for its gender as it plays off the Stockholm Syndrome.
The saving grace of the whole affair is that our heroine is not a puritian and she certainly would have been if this was a US production. She is a good person with a very humane outlook on life, yet we are teased with her needed compliance and somewhat sympathetic treatment of her captor.
Both main actors give a strong natural performance which is most appreciated.
Loved the ending, its very real life, the man is shown his true colors to his students and his life deservedly falls apart.
No need for any explosions.
