Don't Worry Darling (2022)
This generations Jersey Girl.
In 2004, a film called Jersey Girl came and went without so much as a whimper. The issue was the drama surrounding the movie was bigger than the movie itself. Director Kevin Smith even said the film was an after thought. Don't Worry Darling suffers the same fate as Jersey Girl with the BTS drama becoming the focal point of the entire project. Much like Jersey Girl, DWD has a killer cast of A listers and an Indie darling director making the turn to mainstream. And both of these films could have risen above all of the gossip and lies and BS, if the creators had delivered a quality product. DWD is a lot of things, unfortunately "quality" is not one of them. Star Florence Pugh shines and dazzles in this movie and the cinematography is jaw dropping but the lame premise of the project and the dud of a third act is not enough to make this film anything more than dead on arrival. Maybe this will be a wake up call for Miss Wilde. ;-)
Obi-Wan Kenobi: Part V (2022)
Why the low scores
I am so tired of fake Star Wars fans who are so toxic and who are review bombing this show because of their racism and insecurities. They all give Star Wars fans a bad name and I wish they would all go away. None of them, I bet were even alive for any of the original trilogy. And as far as I'm concerned, if you were not born at least before by '83, you will never be a OG Star Wars fan. So just give it up. This episode was truly spectacular. It showed what OG fans have been wanting to see for over 40 years...the true power of the dark side. I loved every frame of film in this episode.
Masters of the Universe: Revelation (2021)
It's fun if...
...you weren't a fan of the original IP. I nerded out on a lot of stuff as a kid and I still do. However, the Masters line was not one of them. I have no dog in this fight so I wasn't upset by the direction this shows story took. I found it to be a fun story with pretty good animation and fantastic voice work. They are quick episodes and you can bang out part one or two in an afternoon. I guess that if you were a fan of the original cartoon and or toy line, you aren't going to like it but to each their own I suppose. But if your looking for a fun fantasy cartoon, give it a try. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
The Book of Boba Fett: Chapter 5: Return of the Mandalorian (2022)
This is the best Episode of Boba Fett or Mando
Some of the best Star Wars in existence is in this episode. The story is stellar. It really delves into the mythos of Mandalore and gives the world building a much more rich texture. The visuals, special effects and camera work are also sensational. Spoiler real quick...I kind of wish that the "special guest" didn't show up in this show (at least for the first season) as I would have wanted to see Boba stand on his own. However, it didn't bother me enough to give this episode any less than a perfect 10.
Dave Chappelle: The Closer (2021)
Loved it.
I was going to get to this eventually but the people at GLAAD are trying to take it down off of Netflix so I decided that I had to get it in quick before it goes away. They really want to take everyone's fun away huh? Anyway, Dave nails it like he has time and again. He won't go down as One of the greatest of all time. He is the greatest of all time. I'm sure this will win all the Emmy's too. Too bad it's the last one on Netflix. I'm sure he'll come out with more.
Tom Segura: Ball Hog (2020)
I love this guy.
This is not for people who are easily offended by jokes. Tommy Buns kills it in this special. I don't want to ruin any of the great bits in this, so just check it out. You're all under quarantine. You literally have nothing better to do.
Onward (2020)
Slow start but big finish!!
My goodness, this movie starts at a snail's pace. The first 15 minutes I thought I had made a horrible mistake seeing this movie. And then the hook comes in and the movie finally gets going with a huge payoff at the end. I throughly enjoyed this movie. Chris Pratt anchors this movie with a decent performance from Tom Holland. It's unfortunate that the only American accent he can do is a Queens accent. Overall, enjoyable. Definitely a recommendation
Punisher: War Zone (2008)
A Punisher Movie for Punisher Fans
The problem with this movie is that it relies heavily on the viewer being able to know and appreciate all of the ancillary characters it introduces at break neck speeds. Most of this movie is inside baseball and if you're not familiar with Punisher War Journal or the Garth Ennis Max run then you will have no idea what's happening. Fortunately for me...I am familiar with all of that and I absolutely love this movie. I've been obsessed with this movie since I first saw it during its first and probably only week of theatrical release and I couldn't believe what I was seeing when I was seeing it. If you are a pure Punisher fan, and you haven't seen this, what are you waiting for?
Spider-Man (2018)
One of the best video games based off original IP
I usually don't write reviews but this game was too good for me not to say something. The web swinging mechanics, combat mechanics, upgrade systems, voice acting, motion capture, and story is some of the best I've ever seen. This isn't just how you make a great Spiderman game, or a super hero game. This is how you make a great action game. This is one for the history books.
