The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse (2022)
Preaching
What a slow story, interspersed with lectures on what is best in life.
The most astounding aspect was that they all decided to stay together, knowing that they had differing lifespans, diets and overall needs.
What am I supposed to learn from this? Absolutely nothing. I cannot believe that this expected to be a classic, to be shown year after year. For what reason?
On the plus side, animation and drawing was excellent, but it was also excellent in The tiger who came to tea, and We're going on a bear hunt, which were equally bizarre concepts.
Maybe, being over 5 years old, I'm the wrong audience, but it's a big thumbs down from me.
Signed, Sealed, Delivered (2013)
Over 60s only
All WASP lead characters. No drugs, no disabled, no poor people? What kind of world is this series set in? One where it takes four people to deliver a letter, let alone to solve the weekly riddle? Do they not have individual case loads?
I can only assume that this series is pitched at those looking at a past through rose tinted glasses, and who ignore the reality of today, I.e, those who are over60, or non critical viewers wanting something to fall asleep to.
The premise is very good but the execution could have been done in a much more realistic way. As it is, I think that the one word to describe this is asinine.
Hit and Run (2021)
All the good work spoilt by bad lighting
An unusual and interesting storyline, with an unlikeable lead, and the possibility of a second series. If there is one, I hope that a different lighting director is used. There was darkness throughout, but particularly in the last episode.
Casablanca (1942)
Too much exposition
Very disappointed with this. Everybody has a back story, most of which is irrelevant and slows down the pace of the film. However, I am judging by today's standards, and can appreciate that at it's time, people would be engrossed, to get away from what was going on in the world. Surprised how much of the dialogue has become part of everyone's memory
Virgin River (2019)
Big secrets but who cares?
This is like a daytime soap. Every character seems to have a secret, but when the secret is discovered, I think "is that it? Why should I care?" I have no affection for any character as they are all self absorbed about their past. Let it go.
So why am I ploughing through every episode? That is the secret ingredient of this show
No te puedes esconder (2019)
Sexist?
All of the men are either bad or stupid, but the women are the victims and the heroines. Is there a subliminal message being put across?
