The Good Doctor: Seven Reasons (2018)
I think they handled this episode very well.
I understand that people were upset that assumptions were made due to the fact that one of the patients was Muslim. However, having all of the doctors treat her with perfect consideration would not have been realistic.
They did a great job of allowing her to tell her side of prejudicial treatment. It also makes sense that somebody with autism could misconstrue the facts and put it together the way Shawn did.
Taking away all portrayals of prejudicial or racial treatment from shows and movies is just as shortsighted and ignorant as taking away/rewriting all of the books that contain references or descriptions of slavery.
It is an ugly part of our history and an ugly part of our present. But that doesn't mean we can just make it go away and pretend it didn't happen. That won't help anything. What we should be doing is focusing on how far we have come and keep pushing forward. Let people see how change can happen.
Supernatural: Malleus Maleficarum (2008)
I liked this episode! But, when did we all become so dang sensitive???
Does anybody remember the phrase, "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me"? Generations of kids were raised hearing that phrase, and they all grew up to realize that people calling you names can't actually affect how you are.
Nowadays, if you say anything to anybody that could be perceived as negative, they become the victim, and you the hate-filled person!
It has gotten so bad that if you hear a television show or movie character, say something to another character, you actually react! What happened to all of us? Why are we all so weak that we have to internalize every single thing we hear?
We all have opinions. Some of them are positive, some are negative. It is ridiculously unrealistic to vilify people simply because their opinion is not good for every person or everything.
