Exhibit A (2007)
Nauseatingly tedious and extremely predictable
I am a fan of found footage movies but this isn't one of them. I found it to be tedious, so much so that I found the shaky camera thing that is the deal with this movies to be as incredibly irritating as the actors themselves, specifically the father.
While I realize that this genre involves the use of hand held cameras in a pseudo documentary style, there is often little rational as to why the actors would feel the need to document what they do. Specifically in this case. Why would the daughter and then the father feel the need to document the disintegration of their lives? Just not at all plausible to me.
I guess some like it but again it was a tedious bore for me and like my title says, I saw the end coming much too soon to make the film even remotely interesting.
The Poughkeepsie Tapes (2007)
This movie is sick, period!
I'm a big fan of horror but I fail to see the entertainment value in this gratuitous trash. Sure, we all know there is unspeakable evil in this world but is it entertaining to see it on display?
You choose what you expose yourself to and I can think of much better diversions thank you very much. I know there is evil in the world, I don't have to have it shoved down my throat. At least movies like Hostel have redeeming qualities whereas I fail to see any in this.
Do not watch this movie if your'e sensitive, it's not worth you're time.
If you have serial killer fantasies and like to see innocent people defiled, if it gives you a sense of power etc then it may be for you.
Steve Jobs (2015)
A human and moving drama about a flawed genius
This movie will likely not be for everyone. It contains no "action" so to speak of and is quite slow moving. Moving however it what it will be for many of us as we witness the dramatization of Jobs' role in Apple, his brilliance, stubborn ambition, and ultimately his role in forever changing the world as we know it by playing a major role in the technological revolution.
It is a portrait of a driven genius who is portrayed as a flawed human being who placed priority on his work and vision at the cost of his humanity. His relationship with co-workers, family and especially daughter is engrossing and will leave some with a heavy heart.
The movies appears to pull few punches in its' portrayal of Jobs and is highly recommended to those who appreciate a sincere portrait of a famous, iconic man, warts and all.
