Possession (1981)
Absolutely pathetic
It's just 2 hours of a woman screaming into a 1980s microphone. It's not clever, it's not 'arty', it's just really, really bad.
There's a scene in a subway where she literally starts breakdancing whilst screaming and then gives birth to a trifle by the looks of it.
Half of it is entirely incomprehensible. It's not her 'descent into madness' it's just a collection of scenes that progressively get more absurd.
The other half is completely pretentious and nonsensical. If you want to watch a film where people try to off themselves with an electric meat cutter however, this may be the film you've been looking for.
The Predator (2018)
Decent for what it is.
Once you understand it's not to be taken seriously it can be quite enjoyable.
Whilst I cannot recommend this film I did enjoy it in a weird 'so bad it's good' sort of way.
Sonic Forces (2017)
Doesn't deserve the stick
Gameplay is actually quite refined and enjoyable. What let's it down is the length of the levels. In my opinion, I think if the levels were between 4-6 minutes each that everyone would be calling this game sonics great return. I don't play sonic for a great story although it can help. I play for gameplay. I believe the gameplay is fine.
Loose Women (1999)
No the wonder MGTOW exists.
If this is what women actually conduct themselves then men are in their rightful place. There is no way on Earth anyone can take this show seriously.
Just watched an episode (unfortunately) and two of the panelists literally look like corpses. Talking nothing but total dross. Asking such important questions like 'should we have a new partner every decade?'
Who needs this? Like honestly man come on.
After (2019)
Absolute tripe
Probably the blandest film I've ever seen. I'd rather have a viral infection than watch this absolute load.
Split (2016)
Good acting, horrible everything else. (Spoiler free)
I give this a three, and that is being generous, because of the acting, and the acting alone. The whole story is a pointless mess, the story is thinner than Kate Moss and is utterly boring from start to finish, not to mention outright predictable. Probably what is the worst thing though, is that they use mental illness as a plot point to scare people, these people are not monsters and are not to be looked at like freaks, it is a severe condition which this film simply sticks the finger to. I've just about had enough of these modern 'thrillers' where the hell are the modern terminators, the blade runners, aliens, Indiana Jones? Hollywood has been sapped of any soul it once had and the whole industry is now just a cash cow, utter disgrace of a movie and wouldn't waste my money watching it! Utter rubbish.
The Karate Kid Part II (1986)
Don't normally write reviews
Its not like me to write a review but for this absolute classic I thought it would be necessary. For a long time this was my least favourite of the 3 films starring Daniel and Miyagi, but for quite some time it has been not just my favourite of the trilogy but my favourite film of all time, I love the setting, the story, the character development and especially to two main antagonists, Sato and Chozen. I believe you will find the trilogy much more enjoyable if you watch them in the order 1,3,2 rather than 1,2,3 as this film gives such a bigger send off than the third one ever did, the stakes are much higher in this one and the lessons learned are much more meaningful. I'm glad that I gave this one a chance because I didn't realise what I was missing, the soundtrack is something to behold. It's simply stunning, especially during Miyagis fathers funeral and Kumikos ritual dance at the end. Such a beautiful movie that should be watched by people of all ages. A story of redemption, love, forgiveness and empathy, a true classic. 10/10
Star Trek: Voyager (1995)
Something else
Whilst I agree that 7.7/10 is overall a great rating, the show is deserving of so much more. This was the first series of Trek I watched from front to back and it got me through a very difficult part of my life. Admittedly since watching DS9 I can accept that the characters are not as well developed as they could of been. But this doesn't detract from the fact that it is an excellent series with a perfect premise of bringing a rag tag crew together, and it does just that! Voyager all the way.
